My old 52 year old ass has seen Starset twice in the last year with my teens. Love this band. Now they gift me with a Type O cover. Bliss

This is actually a good cover of Type O Negative's classic song.
The original has that euphoric haunting feel to it, especially that alluring gothic voice pf Peter Steele(RIP).
Starset's version gave this song that epic space feel to it while they try their best to be respectful to the oiginal.

Very unexpected cover considering how different a sound Type O Negative is... the original is a gothic classic, but I like y'all's spin on it. You don't try to mimic Peter's version, and you play to your strengths. Solid work.

What?! I’m a huge Type O Negative fan, I was shocked when I heard this come up in the mix, I had no idea they’d done a cover. I still think the original is a timeless classic, I mean come on, it’s Peter Steele (RIP) and Type O, but it’s a great version and I applaud them for putting their own spin on it and they were able to keep it sexy.

I am working on listening to Starset's discography, I discovered this group about a year ago when I discovered Ra. Both bands are severely underappreciated with their musicianship and creativity. This song here with a true cover with their own make and style shows it. I want to see these guys live so very badly!!!
Cool thing is the singer from Ra actually helps Dustin write. He helped on the last 2 albums and he actually came up with the main riff from Manifest

This is by fair one of my favorite Type O Negative songs, and I am loving this cover. I love how you kept the piano in, and kept every word of the original song.
I showed my mother who loves Type O Negative and she really enjoyed the cover as well.

The Type O Negative version of this song was always one of my favorite songs from them. When I heard the intro and I knew what it was I was a bit worried that the vocals wouldn't hold up to that version...but well done. Seriously, well done and beautiful. Couldn't have been a better tribute.

I clicked on it and read the comments that this was a cover. So I immediately went to check out the original first. I think starset did an amazing job of covering this song.
This is how you cover a song. Not a remake - an attempt to recreate the original - but making it with your own sound and style. Type o covers usually tend to be more like "tributes" that don't make me want to find out more about the bands performing them. This is a good job.
... that being said, not mentioning Type O anywhere in the description or title is a very very c*nty thing to do.
Most times it's never mentioned whether something is a cover or not. That's just how it is.
But yeah I'd prefer if it was always said, at least in description.

Admittedly listened to the original version AFTER hearing this cover. The melody and lyrics are entrancing all around, but I definitely get more out of Starset's cover. Where the Type O version felt slightly more ominous, bordering on sinister, Starset's cover (to me) has a bit more clarity in the music and the vocals, and plays far more seductive and hypnotic. It's honestly one of my favourite songs by them - I was hooked from the moment it started playing - and I can't overstate enough how much I love the work both artists put into bringing it to life
First song I heard from these guys was Halo a couple months back. I can't believe I let this band just fly under my radar

On Halloween 2015, I was at a birthday party of a friend of mine. She was intelligent, beautiful, humorous and had a great character. We just had that click. On the 25th of November that year I got into a car crash and very nearly died. That same day she got a boyfriend, I was later told.
While lying in the hospital bed half dead and pumped full of morphine, I discovered this band. Throughout my recovery I listened to it. Now every time I listen to any of their songs, all those feelings associated with that period come back in full force. It might be the most bittersweet feeling ever. Thank you for making this music.
