I've had my '15 Challenger RT+ (5.7L Automatic) for about 2 months now, and I love it! However, I was somewhat disappointed that the sound of the old school muscle produced by the HEMI engine was being held back. So about a week ago I took my Challenger down to my local muffler shop, Mesa Muffler here in Arizona to get my mufflers and resonators deleted and replaced with 2.5" straight pipes-- shout out to them on doing a great job and for a good price of $240. Now my HEMI sounds like an old school HEMI. Man do my neighbors hate me now.

ithinkimbigal You will feel a very little loss in power, but it's hardly noticeable, if you notice it at all. It drones, but I love it. All in all I thought it was a nice $200 mod. I just ordered a K&N 71 Blackhawk series CAI, as well as SLP Exhaust System (Cat-back), and SLP Longtube headers.

i did the same thing but installed flowmaster 40 series on it in addition to JBA catless long tubes. sounds amazing and idle is relatively quiet still after warm up. (cold start is loud as shit!)

Dude I just showed my boss this because I've been stuck in between two exhaust that I want for my 15 RT Plus. He said and I quote 😳😳 "GOT DAMN THAT SOUNDS GOOD AS HELL! Sounds like he has a damn dragon coming out of his car!" Lol But I have made a decision thanks to your video. Just hearing your makes me want to rip my exhaust from underneath my shit! Lol What all did you do?.. I want my car to sound exactly like yours. So I can pull up beside my friends 5.0 and shock the shit out of him.

Sounds insane. Nice ride man! I've had a modded Miata now for a while that rips up in the corners, but i've been missing an American V8. Really considering trading it in towards one of these, ideally a scat pack. How do you like it as a daily?
I have a charger I wanted the challenger but needed the extra room for the kids. For a daily driver however it's just to much fun letting loose on the highway especially once you have an intake exhaust combo with a tune.

This video inspired me to make a catback system for my Charger(5.7 Hemi Police Charger in Canada so the exhaust had some really flaky areas, all the reason I needed to do this) but since I'd get pulled over here and it's my daily I put in Black Widow Venom 250's and made some custom 304SS exhaust tips as a throwback to the old mopars, costed me a total of about $100 in materials(not including th mufflers) and 10 hours of labour....with mufflers it was about $450 CAD so like $20 US. As long as you keep your stock cats, you should be okay here in AZ. I haven't gotten it tested yet, so I can't say with 100% certainty. But from what I've read from others that have done this in AZ, it's my understanding that you should pass.

did you notice any loss in low end torque? i have resonator deletes right now and am contemplating going muffler deletes as well (mid muffler) or keeping mufflers and going with a cat delete. (currently tuned)
clayton H No, in fact I felt as though I gained power. Eventually I ended up going LT headers, catless mids, and then same straight pipe set up just with an x pipe built in and new tips. Car got stupid fast.

Nick Bova Unfortunately I was never able to find out the brand of pipes they used if that's what you're asking. I wish I could be of more help. Maybe when I get back home at the end of the month, I can bring my car over and ask the shop I went to and get back to you on that.

Nick Greco When I posted this video I had Cats on, but since then I got them deleted in addition to long tube headers and bigger pipes. It's 1000x times louder.

James Harbour No not really man. Yes the PCM is locked. In a month or so I'm planning on getting the Diablo PCM and then getting the good ole diablo email tune.
What was your remedy for the O2 sensors?
Didn't have to do anything. That only happens when you either remove or replace the stock cats.
Any problems with the sensors or anything?
Blake Morrow Negative. You only run into that issue once you remove the stock cats (like I plan on doing very soon).

Out of all the ponies the challenger has the best sound, yet its looks is why i havent decided on it, im stuck thinking between another camaro, mustang or challenger.
I have a Challenger R/T 2016 and I've straight piped it without touching the cats, it sounds pissed off and angry and I love it, the problem is the drone, which isn't too loud, but its there and its starting to annoy me day by day. I'm planning to get a SLP muffler and install it on my pipes, but I'm split between SLP Loudmouth 1 and Loudmouth 2, LM1 is a basically more of a resonator then a muffler as I've been told and LM2 is basically muffler, but as SLP has stated LM2 will help reduce high frequency noise and in car resonance/drone, what would you suggest? I want the drone gone or drastically reduced, but don't wanna sacrifice the sound my straight pipe exhaust makes, a little bit sacrifice on loudness is ok, but don't wanna nerf it down.
What you can do is ask wherever you take it, to extend the mid mufflers a little bit to the back (in other words extending the pipe back so the mufflers are more in between the rear tires) and you should quiet down a good amount but not a lot. I did that with mine, I still have a nice loud growl and the drone was reduced a lot.

Another question. Did you need to get tuned after this or any check engine lights go off?
Unfortunately I didn't have time to go get a tuning that I wanted done, because I left for Basic Training like 2 weeks after I got this done to my exhaust. But I will get that done as soon as I get home around mid-October. And to answer your other question, I have not had any issues with the Check-Engine Light. That's really because I didn't mess with the catalytic converter at all (by installing high flow cats/headers for example)-- it's stock.
hey bro...I have a 2016 Challenger R/T plus myself and I deleted the mufflers and resonators and went straight pipe, did not touch the cats, It sounds just like your Challenger in this vid, but I'm getting a lot of drone driving around at slow speeds or even when I'm cruising on the highway, be it on cruise or not, the only solace I get is that when driving on sports mode or cruising on sports mode on cruise the drone is a little less, but the annoying drone is still there and its started to hurt my ears and gives me a headache which lasts for hours. Any advice on how to counter this drone or reduce it or get used to it??
Kunal Parmar My advice is to definitely add a mid-muffler. Doing that will eliminate majority if not all the drone. I would recommend Flowmaster, Borla, and maybe Magnaflow, Corsa if you can find a good deal. If that quiets it down too much you can always run Longtube Headers, maybe go catless w/mufflers still on.
Thanks for the advice bro, a few of my friends advised me the same, telling me not to panic and spend a lot on a complete new cat back system from borla, flowmaster or solo performance. I live in Dubai, so touching the cats is a big no-no around here, one of the guys from the performance workshop I got my straight pipe done from advised me to go with Borla Pro Xs in the middle, which would reduce the drone upto 80% but not eliminate it completely. But I am wondering if my exhaust would still sound as good as the straight pipe now or will adding the borla pro xs muffler considerable reduce the sound and that sweet thunderous growl you get from the straight pipes...people dont like dealing in flowmasters here in Dubai, its all Borla or Corsa or Gibson, I'm trying to find a good deal on magnaflow too, but mufflers here are 40 to 50% more expensive then it is in the states, they like to loot us here lol.

Kunal Parmar SLP’s are good. I haven’t heard what LM2 sounds like in person, but it’ll probably reduce your noise by 10-15%, but being single chambered and a straight through design with some fiberglass, and not completely hollow, that might be a good compromise

Kyle Cloud When I shot this video the setup was: Mid Muffler Delete, and a Resonator Delete (replaced with 2.5" straight pipes). You will pass your emissions test perfectly fine, as well as no CEL. I got this work done at Mesa Muffler.
If you want it really loud, like how I had it before I sold it not that long ago, I went with JBA Longtube Headers, JBA Catless Midpipes, Custom 3" xpipe, 3" straight pipes all the way to the tips 👌🏽

MoparMike how bad was the drone and at what speed and rpms? At the time of this video. I'm coming from a 5" straight piped turbo back exhaust on a 6.0 diesel and that didn't bother me but just curious what your opinion on it is.
Joey Bucceri The drone isn't really bad at all from what I remember.. Personally I never minded it, in fact I liked it. I only even noticed it cruising at 80mph on the I-17.

Yes, there will be some drone. I can tolerate it all day long, some people can't. It's really going to kick in when you're on the highway and the 4 cylinder fuel economy kicks in.

Trill Cxrey I can’t tell you yes or no. I never had a baseline dyno. I would guess yes. But later on I went on and went catless and got longtube headers, Tune, 88mm TB, CAI, E85 soooo I gained a few ponies after that lol

One question tho, did you replace the front two or back two or all 4? Cause they asked me this and I assumed you deleted all 4. The quote from them was $350 lol. Just wanna make sure before I shop around & pull the trigger.
