I love the quirk and power ideas where there's either a drawback or affects their personality and like that they can train in order to improve the quirk they have
koji koda is literally my fav character out of the whole show he's so cute and he talks to animals and hes shy and he has a pet bunny how could you not love himmm also he kinda reminds me of fluttershy bc they have similar characters and flutter is my favourite pony so
I'm working on a story inspired by mha and I love the mutant students a lot, so half my cast will be mutants as well. My main character is an octopus mutant, studying to become a hero and she's also a ballerina (she's very cute). She also had a best friend who she never thought would be trans (considering that all her other friends are trans as well, she thought that maybe she had at least one non trans friend, but no), and she's also a mutant, inspired by Shoji's face, who is super interested in being a hero, but got kicked out of her parents place after coming out and is now unable to go to school at all, because she's got no money and all school past elementary is paid (though middle school is still mandatory). I also have a character inspired by Toga, or at least how she acted in one fanfiction I read in 2019 and very vaguely remember. Her superpower is making things from her dream come to life.
I love the mutant quirks of MHA! I am autistic and I have always grown more towards them. Something about them makes me happy. Tokoyami is awesome, he's a little emo anime guy who is sort of a sweetheart, caring about his friends. Iida is my favorite character; He has a fascinating mutant quirk and his character during the Stain arc is amazing, plus he has theatre kid energy same with Tokoyami. Mina along with Iida was wasted, she has a bubbly fun personality and a cool quirk. I tend to think of mutant quirks like neurodivergence in a way. They are weird, they are a little different, but at the end of the day they are human and just like neurodivergent people in real life they need accommodations and less generalizations thrown their way.
I never look at “redesigns” of the mutant character as redesign but more as an idea of what they might look like as a human. But to be fair I try to imagine how certain foods would look as people so I’m used to imagining things as other things more than redesigning the same thing.
Anytime I think about human headed Tokoyami I strongly believe his hair should be feathers because his bird head has hair however I don't believe the idea should be used frequently and only as a sort of silly bit here and there I had no idea people actually were "redesigning" him
Have kinda similar story of falling in love with mha in 2020 and returning a few month ago, so it felt really nice to see someone else feeling that way towards characters in the show. And your art is so cute! Tokoyami with apple is super adorable and poses are great too
i love tokoyami he's my favorite there are three things i love in characters 1 bird, 2 gothic manner of speech, 3 dark element being a good guy and tokoyami checks all of them also his full name tokoyami fumikage means Eternal darkness, walk thru shadows that is so over the top goth i love it
I just love physical mutations in mha. I've always felt like there's a severe lack of of these types of characters in superhero media, even if it could have benefited the story, specially in the x-men. It always made me more empathetic with characters like Beast and Nightcrawler, their fight for mutant acceptance becomes more personal to them, because people like them can't just stop using their mutations and live normally with other humans. In the movies, you barely see characters like them, specially in Xavier's school, it's just regular looking people. I think it would have been great if they had more characters who had these visible physical mutations to give more impact on what the school is doing to protect their fellow mutants.
I just gotta say though, nor Mina nor Tokoyami have mutant type quirks. Dark Shadow is well, a shadow, so it's not attached to him and Mina's quirk is just her acid. What happens is that mutant type quirks are hereditary, so one of Tokoyami's parents probably looks like a bird and the same goes for Mina and her alien appearance
I LOVE the mutants of My hero academia, they are all my babies. Also I know they're not techincally mutants but, the characters with unconventional designs? LIke MIneta looks cartoony as fuck and thats super fun to look at visually.
All of this. Tokoyami is one of my favorite characters and I'm so sad that they only touched on the whole mutant racism issue very briefly at the end because it's such a big deal and it would have been more relevant. Of course the topic came up in the form of occasional racist remarks in between, but it was never addressed . And I love the non-human Tokoyami, he's cute, I mean look at him looking at the apple
Not me screaming when you said you don't like Todoroki AND Hawks I SCREAMED! Anywho I like Tokoyami and A lot of the other mutants I think their cute. As for Mineta, I personally think people are too harsh on him and only takes his grossness so serious because he isn't attractive.
No? People dislike Mineta 'cause he's a perv and only used for the sake of pervy humour??? Like.. that's his whole purpose. To assault female cast. And make it somehow "funny". Doesn't matter if he's attractive or not. I don't like Kaminari (who has a great design imho) 'cause he participated in the same kind of jokes and topics as Mineta. The dude is just gross and that's all. Nothing more to him, lmao. Rid the manga of him and nothing will change. Bad character in general.
I can’t speak for others, but the reason I react to Mineta’s behaviour so harshly is because he really just…doesn’t actually get punished for it? Sure he’ll get beaten up in response, but it’s clearly taken as a joke in the same way Kaminari getting temporary brain damage due to quirk backlash is: It’s never actually taken as a serious issue by the narrative. Realistically, he should’ve been expelled by now given how strict Aizawa was stated to be (and how Izuku himself was nearly expelled shortly after being enrolled), especially when part of his gag is how the girls have consistently mentioned reporting his actions. Speaking of Kaminari, he’s an actually well-written version of the ‘pervy anime guy’ archetype because while he has his moments (such as the cheerleading outfit thing), it’s not his sole character type and his actions are never taken to the extremes like they are with Mineta. He gets called out for it and he learns from it, he grows from those moments in a way that feels realistic for a teenage boy to be like, and makes the effort to woo his crush without objectifying her. Mineta’s entire character is that he’s a pervert who’s academic skills justify his enrolment into UA, but we barely get to see those skills outside of one-off jokes at the expense of other academically smart characters like Iida who *don’t* act like him. And because he never grows from this, he’s just left stagnant whilst the rest of the cast gets their own respective arcs, making that stick out more
@@steampunk-llama Oh no I understand that but the thing that these type of characters NEVER get any repercussion unless they are literally an antagonist. I'm not saying that his actions aren't gross or that people shouldn't be digusted with him. My problem is that for some reason people hate him more than the average anime perv, including the adult men who fall into this category. I've seen people make exuses for bloody HISOKA for christ sake. Also it's been a very long time since I've kept up with MHA but from what I've heard Mineta's pervyness has reduced a lot. But maybe I've been misinformed.
Personally, if I was to redesign the guy, I'd lean even further in the mutant aspect, make him covered in feathers instead of just his head (because now it just looks like he's wearing a mask), and get rid of his teeth...
I will take your Tokyoami opinion with a grain of salt, but that’s still a redesign, though whether you want to admit that or not, you did a redesign in your video at the end of the day ❤
@@octoinkz oh, ok, thank you for the answer, i'm not a big Tokoyami fan but Spinner is trully one of my favorite characters and his backstory for being miserable because of his quirk and his relationship with Shigaraki and the way he sees Dabi is pretty cool to me, Spinner is very underated too
