If you look carefully, Miku (with the red rose) was only pretending to play her guitar. She didn’t know how to play when this was made (2013.). She was only using it as a prop! She learned to play well after the band was formed!
Just to let you know since you asked at the beginning. This is the same lineup of band members. They have never changed anyone. They stuck together through it all. They all deserve the love they get . Specially that nifty little pigeon (Miku) that made all this happen. ❤
You should check out Ohrenje's documentary series on the ladies ! It starts with Saiki and finishes with a 3 part on Miku and the band in general. You could alternate between songs and the biographies !! They are extremely well done .
Thrill is really what kick-started Band-Maid's journey to become a hard rock band. The group started in 2013, but a year before Thrill dropped in 2014 and received over two million views in the first weeks of release on Facebook, the Maids hadn't played much rock music at all. And the 2nd guitarist, founder and lyricist, Miku, didn't even know how to play guitar. It's an incredible story and we are so lucky they stayed together during those early years to become, in my mind, the best hard rock band on the planet! Thx, Kyle!
As many will no doubt point out, this was the song that saved the band from being dropped by their label after it exploded into the west - and it was the ladies themselves who insisted on releasing this as a single/video vs another one that their management favoured - their approximate ages in this video - Saiki 20, MISA 21, Miku and Kanami 22, Akane 23
These are the points you should check out along the way for your journey of BAND-MAID. At this point; ・MISA is still using 4 string bass. ・MISA is wearing shoes. ・Kanami using Addictone guitar. ・Miku using Rickenbacker guitar, but mostly just holding it and only playing codes here&there. ・Akane has a tiny hat on. ・Saiki hasn’t changed a lot. ・The song was provided to them. ・They are wearing first version of their maid costume (battle armer).
@@KyleHammerREACTS Akane's Tiny Hat (RIP) is legendary. When they first formed it was MISA's but she detested it (MISA is wearing it on the cover of their first album). Akane ended up with it and wore it for years. It finally had to go as Akane's manic drumming meant it had to be fixed on her head tightly, and it was hurting her. Rest in Peace Tiny Hat San, Akane does not miss you.
So this song is actually after their first album, which you can mostly pass over until later. This song was released on a single where the intended single was supposed to be Love Passion Matador (a catchy earworm in itself), but when it came for a music video, they pushed for Thrill instead. Honestly, all three songs on that single are all bangers. Thrill, LPM, and Summer Drive are all fun songs and the other two don’t get the credit they deserve.
The first album is underrated IMO. It's a perfectly decent pop punk sort of album, and although it's their least mature work, there are hints of what they would become. ...but there aren't any official videos from that album, so, yeah.
Thanks for understanding the history of metal. Metalheads keep trying to push the definition of metal more extreme but some of us have enough music history to remember what old school heavy metal was like.
You should check the drum cover by Akane for "Benjo Sandal Dance" from Maximum the Hormone! She played that cover to prove that she could play the drums: Some dudes did not believe that band maid was really playing their instruments in the Thrill video.
Actually I might suggest watching the excellent documentaries done by a fellow Maidiac about each member. A lot of people have started that way on similar journeys as yours, and it gives you much more insight and depth as them as band and, more importantly, individuals.
Kyle, could you react to "Wonderland", the official live video. It shows the band's mid-tempo range. It's a beautiful almost jazz-like song that shows Saiki's vocal range.
You're OK on personnel changes since there haven't been any. We'll, except for adding Saiki as lead singer, but that was before they made official videos. This is the only Official Music Video in which Bassist MISA is wearing a maid costume. Also, original lead singer Miku didn't know how to play guitar before Saiki joined. She had only been taking lessons (from the lead guitarist Kanami) for a few months when they filmed this.
Thanks for the reaction and comments. This is the video that saved Band-Maid from extinction. At this point, Miku didn't even know how to play the guitar. Since then, there's been something akin to a Cambrian Explosion in their growth both individually and as a group. They are arguably the best live band on the planet today and most certainly the most likeable. Cheers!
If you are going to stick to the official channel you will either be A) missing most of the music from the first 4 albums or B) end up watching mostly static album cover pictures. BAND MAID have been going for over 10 years and have over 120 songs.

This a actually wasn't on their first album. It was a B-side (YES, a B side) to a single in between their first LP (Maid in Japan), and 2nd (New Beginnings). Their first LP was actually much more pop-punk, along the lines of Green Day and even the Rembrandts. Thrill is where they found their hard rock footing, and they became more progressive as time has passed. Thrill was recorded about a year and a half after they formed.
Ah yes, MISA in a short skirt, fishnets and stacked heels, and so much absolute territory from everybody else it makes my head spin. 😵💫 Miku’s idol influences are strong in this video.
This journey is a great idea, but with more than fifty videos on their official channel, it would be better to react to two of their videos per video-reaction.☺
For a "thrill," you should look for their acoustic live version of this song from the Engadget show in Nov 2014 if you can find it. Has a different arrangement and feel.
The Journey of 50+ videos begin with but a single reaction. 😅 I would also recommend a few UA-cam documentaries and deep dives along your journey by way of UA-cam channels Ohrenje and Wave Potter Films (not to be confused with his reaction main channel)

This! I think he would love them

@@Davey-Boyd Such a sad loss... I will be looking for it at every old video i watch now!
Saiki standing behind a mic stand is pretty rare
RIP Tiny Hat. Gone but not forgotten.
A lot of us discovered BM with this song in the Covid period…..it kept me going!

really! thats toxic, but i love that response from Akane! haha
@@KyleHammerREACTSI think Misa also did such a video but it is not available anymore.

Can i recommend, you watch the Gold Rush interview for band-origination and biographies by ORENJE, there are no better.

That's insane, how good is Miku even here!
@@KyleHammerREACTS Watch again Kyle - she doesn't play it!
@@Davey-Boyd WHAT!
Ok.. hear me out... I wanna believe!
Kanami plays all the guitar parts in the studio and teaches Miku her parts for the live shows. I believe Kanami uses Miku's rig for her parts.
Great idea and I love it. Will be following.
Totally agree, you could play this shit in every context and people would always jam. KEEP IT UP HOMIE
Yep, ten years ago, when they only had one guitarist….so what do you do? Guitarist teaches backing singer to play guitar…..
