What an incredible interview. I just love Hugh Grant on so many levels. He has a lot of depth. And of course, that dry British wit and self-deprecating humor. (I'm American). I loved watching this. He would be amazing in politics. He is far from just a pretty face and a well-known actor. He is so classy, intelligent, and articulate.
Wow, thank you so much for your comment! Stay tuned, we have another really fascinating interview coming out this month we can't wait to share with you all ☺☺
No idea what Hugh is like in real life, but I’ve always loved watching his interviews.
He's been on quite a run of them during the 'Heretic' film press run, and each one is different. You could (or rather, should) watch them back to back and you wouldn't be bored
Watching a Hugh Grant interview when in need of a good laugh with his wit, humorous timing and of course charm, has become my hobby.
This man is always a pleasure..no matter your mood
Couldn't agree more
No catastrophe on you dear Hugh on the Oscar red carpet.... you referred to the fabulous book "Vanity Fair" and she had no idea that you were referring to such a great piece of literature. She immediately referred to the Vanity Fair after party. This American was so embarrassed. Your reference to the Oscars, the glam, the self indulgence to the 1848 Vanity Fair was perfectly on point.
As someone who was also taught by Mr Hammond I must say that Hugh's impression, some half-century later, is uncanny.
🤣🤣
fearless hugh grant
This is a lovely interview and we're learning about Hugh without it seeming to be a reading of his c.v.
He's being modest about his capabilities as an actor. My favourite films of his are the early ones, made out of Hollywood - Maurice, etc.
Thank you for your kind words! It was a really special evening. And he seems to be finding some of his most interesting acting roles in this era, so excited to see what he comes up with next year!
@YellowPressBooks lucky you. Despite the Divine episode, he comes across as a decent human being. I'm glad he married and has a family as it'll help ground him.
I've been a fan since seeing him in Maurice although I've not seen some of his formulaic, paint-by-numbers, Hollywood films. I hope he's not now pigeonholed into playing bad guys.
Agree about the interview, Hugh Grant talks in a very honest way, quite prepared to mock himself, and passionately about the media, while not trying to act as though Hacked Off is all about him.
I like About the Boy, where he was the opposite of the romantic hero, and the relationship between Will and Marcus.
An educational interview with a celebrity that goes beyond cliches of Hollywood into things that matter. Good work.
We were thrilled to hear his candid views on a range of topics. And you're right, to see someone of his level of fame of fame and profile talk openly about serious topics that mean a lot to him.. well let's just say we were beyond grateful!
Thank you so much for your kind words and support!
I remember placing this video on my watchlist, and it suddenly disappeared. I searched 'Hugh Grant' and 'Hugh Grant Interview', etc., but no yield. I'm glad to see it has been reuploaded.
Glad to hear it! Hope you enjoy it as much as we did. We have another very exciting interview coming up soon, keep your eyes peeled 👀
I liked him in this interview so very much.
The whole evening was a real joy, Hugh was on spectacular form. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Never seen an interviewer so not prepared to interact with the guest. Extraordinary!
You clearly haven't seen many interviews then... this is gold compared to the vast majority
she wasn't an interviewer just a giggling waste of space absolutely ridiculous. will never watch anything from here again.
I wouldn’t say she was unprepared but I did find her very awkward.
Loved the interview though as Hugh just says what he thinks and doesn’t bother with putting on a fake smile.
Man he had her down since the very beginning she was flushing throughout the whole interview no doubt he called her after he was done with the interview
Hugh Grant is my spirit animal.
🤣
He was indeed wonderful during this interview, but so was the journalist, great questions !
Ah that is so great to hear! Emma Jones was brilliant on the night, they had a great chemistry and the audience particularly enjoyed the 'Smash Hits' question at the end 🤣
"journalist" never seen anything so ridiculous, like a 2 year old in a chair
A huge thank you to Hugh Grant for joining us for such a special event! Still can't believe it really happened. Please consider subscribing and joingin our community as we release more books, book trailers, interviews, updates with authors and our team, and and more exclusive interviews with very special guests! In fact there's another one coming out very soon.... stay tuned!
@@YellowPressBooks I would also like to add Mr grants dialogue in the film Heretics blew me away , I thought how on earth does he remember all the tricky lines on religion when talking to those poor young ladies , my heart broke for them , he frightened me , then drew me in as a nice guy then terrified me , how clever that it wrapped up with empowerment, a very , very oscar worthy performance Mr Grant , so proud of you .
Thank you all for what you are doing. It is sooooo important❤️
Thank you so much for your encouraging words! If you haven't already, pleawse take a look at our newest series of books, 'Prince Harry's War' - lots of fascinating perspectives on one of the most intriguing news stories of the century so far !
@@YellowPressBooks Hugh Grant drew an interesting distinction between the way TV is regulated, where impartiality and factual accuracy are highly important, and the way the press is regulated which is very light touch when it comes to the same matters.
Listening to you mr grant you are a hero for the ordinary man with your band of brothers hacked off .
Hear hear!
I’ve had a crush on Hugh for so long 😂
After age 6o, I think we all start getting more nervous and agitated because we know that our minds are suddenly not "remembering" as we used to.
Hugh says this as well, as he describes how nervous and agitated he can become now, where he wasn't before.
It was quite reassuring to hear from someone who comes across so confident and comfortable in their own skin describing the same feelings many of us do. Thank you for your comment ☺
Funniest person on earth! 😍
You may be onto something there. The great thing about this interview is there are moments you pick up on the second time round that you find funnier than the first time 🤣
@@YellowPressBooks I agree, I keep rewinding to listen again!
His political acumen is thoroughly impressive. Truly a pleasure to hear him speak about the consequential issues of our time.
The one actor in the world more famous for his personality than any of the roles he has played
Lair of the white worm. Remember him as Chopin in Impromptu with Judy Davis. Bloody hell people !
I like Hugh because he's real..can't stand false actors. Forget about the person love the work...
Many thanks to Hugh Grant. Plus, we now know that Evan Harris is 'obsessed' with Lazy Susan's.
Ha! The secret is out!
Still world popular actor .god blesd you and family .
A Seat filler and a nominee !
Yes, I see a comedy.
We see it too! You never know, maybe 2025 will be the year of "The Seat Filler"!
I watched this on my laptop, using wifi, after a week's binge of North Korean stories of escape, laws, craziness... so "getting rid of the internet" seems silly. If people WANT to take a break, or not to have it, then that's a choice. Freedom and choices are pretty important, 🙂
Telling someone they can't do something because you don't want them to tends to backfire.
Kids need to live where they live and WHEN they live. I have four young grandchildren, and we play video games WITH them, and I watched an elamorate coloring game for a long time two days ago. Pining for the old days is Little-House-on-the-Prairie fantasy nonsense.
Otherwise, this was all great. 🙂
Also I've watched six or so long youtube reviews of Heretic, by former Mormons, current Mormons, and a great one by a never-a-mormon actual movie reviewer. :-) Internet. I wouldn't have known of Heretic if not for the internet. I'm 71, in New Mexico, have three grown kids and five grandkids and I have zero fear of "devices."
I saw the film in a physical theatre the night I learned of its existence, but that came from the internet. I bought movie tickets on the internet, too. 🙂
Hugh, good man, grumpy does not become you.
“Before university you were a bit ghastly as well” 😂😂😂 Who is this excellent interviewer!!
Ha! Yes, the one and only Emma Jones. They are both board members for Hacked Off, have a great rapport and their chemistry adds another layer to the interview for sure.😂
Hand held mics??? Awful audio....what a waste!
Awful sound: can hardly hear the audience questions
Hiya - thanks for your feedback.
We did have a slight technical issue with the roving mic.. the live audience could hear the questions clearly but you are quite right, the issue came with the recording.
We made necessaryadjustments for the next Q&A which we will publish in a couple of weeks, and were statisfied with the results!
Always keen to hear advice and criticisms, and improve where we can!
Did he have a book out or was this just an interview ?
Great question! In fact, Hugh gave his time at a Yellow Press Books event, in partnership with Press Justice Project.
Yellow Press is a new independent book publisher, that publishes stories that focus on truw crime, media and politics.
We have worked with journalists, experts, private investigators and people who work within what is known as the 'press reform' movement, which is a subject close to Hugh's heart, as he explains in more detail halfway through the interview.
Check out our books here: www.yellowpress.co
Thanks for tuning in!
I love Hugh's humor, humility, his slightly grumpy side and his great common sense. I love his hatred of political correctness. But it's clear to see that he doesn't necessarily like interviews and that he finds all this attention exaggerated and uncomfortable. If the interviewers know this and are able to play along, it will be interesting. But if the interviewers are taken by surprise and unable to deal with it, it can become awkward. Here, it was somewhere between the two, I found. It is better to know the man well before interviewing him. And know what to expect. And play along.
not all actors can be so high minded about advertising. some do it for charity.
1:23 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I've been an unconditional fan of Hugh Grant for decades now, still am. Last week he appeared on a programme on Spanish tv as, I assume, part of film promotion. That programme is well known for spreading fake news for the far right, as well as its host having a clearly sexist behaviour on the show. I wish Mr. Grant had been advised against going. It is contradictory (I imagine through ignorance). But his agency should have done some previous research.
Haha there are a lot of bum movies❤❤🎉🎉
all i seem to do is eat sleep and break wind at the moment, like a gorilla, meaning am in solitary confinement, guess cd b j. ross' 2nd wife with a lil 'help'??! ; ) (am hoping aubrey de grey's imminent treatment will help) btw, if sweden wants me they will have to come and get me! # Happy Sunday!
Daily Mail??? Plus the voice didn't help. Poor Hugh. Hope the money was good!
❤❤❤Hugh dont drimk a lot of beer❤❤❤❤
Who are you to say anything?! especially with an over load of hearts. Pulleez!
You, Hugh are unfortunately assuming that non decision of issues politically is right. In the bottom line anyway.
