I love him, I adore him, he is never boring, he doesn't fall in the standard answers EVERY BLOODY actor FEELS they have to give... he TALKS, HE SAYS, HE EXSISTS as a man, as a person, as an actor, ... his insecurities, and fears and selfs deprecation... I love him
Yeah, he's wonderful. But, it's a shame, for some reason he himself never seems to think he's very good. In one interview I saw that was years ago, he said "About a Boy" was his only film he could watch without wincing.
Not gonna lie: I've watched this interview like 20 times lol It gets funnier every time. He's just a comedic genius. He's so effortless with it too. And kudos to Jenelle. What a fantastic interviewer.
Probably one of the best interviews of Hugh Grant I've ever seen! He revealed a lot; he was reminiscing quite a bit; it felt very natural. Jenelle's very talented! I wouldn't mind seeing any other interviews!
She's extremely charming! And her laugh makes you realize that she is saying something brilliant so you perk up and lo and behold she is saying brilliant!
That was the nicest and best interview I've ever seen. Hugh Grant is so low key, modest and unassuming and Jenelle is a sweetheart. Well done to you both!
she is a true pro! it's so apparent that she has done her homework & deep research & ask brief focus questions & let the interviewee be. she is an excellent listener. this is indeed a great 92Y SESSION. THANKS SO MUCH
@@suzanneyoung268 not at all. Most American interviewers don't do the research or give the interviewee time to answer. Sadly, some British interviewers today do the same.
This lady is fabulously refreshing. Diametrically opposed to the self-absorbed, semi-literate bimbos with nasty, creaky-voice affectations and next to no knowledge of their subject/guest, that are unfortunately littering our screens in ever increasing numbers. Heart felt thumbs up for a great job , thankyou Jenelle.
I agree, she's engrossing, warm and funny also very good questions that draw out a side of Hugh that he never shows too often. He looks very comfortable here and I think he's clearly enjoying this interview.
tbf- most interviewers would do a better job of it if they were given over an hour of uninterrupted time with their subject. It's almost impossible to get someone to relax *and* ask them searching questions in 10 minutes. Blame the programmes more than the individual interviewers.
I want him to be in more movies, he's a brilliant actor. Not only in the romantic comedies, but in the man called the uncle. I love his voice and his hair and his sense of humor.
I love Hugh Grant. He is so dashing, charming and so well educated that he is a pleasure to listen to. His ease with the english language fits so well with his chosen profession that he quits every year or so
it is so rare to see such an intelligent high level of an interview WOW! Hugh studied at Oxford & the interviewer seems to be a very well read intelligent woman, very impressive
Despite his self deprecating humor, he is a wonderful actor. Comedy is hard, romantic comedy too... Hugh is very Cary Grant in that way, making what's hard appear effortless.
She is an excellent interviewer. Unlike most US talk show hosts she knows her subject and is more interested in what her guest has to say than in the sound of her own invoice.
I met Hugh Grant when I had no idea who he was. We chatted quite a bit over a few years' time and he was charming, morose, a hypochondriac and honestly a moaner. He was utterly wonderful to be friends with and I've never met anyone who was more resolutely 'themself'. I admire him tremendously and miss his friendship but regular people don't inhabit movie stars' orbit. I wish him all the best.
Am such a fan of Janelle Riley; She can establish a great rapport and conversation with the interviewees and at the same time leaving them all the time to talk without interruption. More importantly she really has seen everything. Because of her am now. also a fan of Variety :-)
I watch a lot of these SAG -AFTRA interviews, but my only criteria so far has been that it has to be Jenelle doing the interview. She is so invested in her guests and the films, that it generates such an organic and fun conversation.
He cheers me up. This past year politically and socially has been hell and so many incredible people have died. It's fun to watch someone who has a sense of humor, intelligence, irony and doesn't take himself so seriously. Way to go Hugh. Plus, he is refreshingly honest and I love his movies!
Jenelle was a fantastic interviewer and Hugh Grant was as always magnetic and funny and terribly self-deprecating, he told some really vulnerable stuff which is testament to Jenelle and her ability to make people so at ease. All in all I was very sad to see this end it was lovely
Its a shame Hugh Grant's Inside The Actor's Studio interview is no longer on youtube. He was brilliant in that! Extremely funny, irreverent and just a joy to watch. Most comedic writers couldn't even write half of the stuff on that if they tried but Hugh did it on the fly. His comedic timing and delivery always on point.
Janelle Riley, interviewer par excellence. I think she must be about the only person who could get this kind of quality interview from Hugh. Always, always a pleasure. You would fairly watch her interviews if you knew or cared little for the subject, such is her knowledge, warmth, humility and deftness of touch. Awesome and adorable. So glad to see the many similarly minded comments made here.
This is one of the most enjoyable interviews I have seen, I was smiling all the way through. A lovely lady and Hugh Grant has such a dry, wry wit, and is so understatedly modest.
I think Hugh Grant is a breath of fresh air. Charming but not pretentious, wonderful dry wit and very honest and self-effacing. A friend of one of my good friends met him several years ago, and she said he was courteous and gentlemanly, without being standoffish 😊
To me Hugh Grant is one of the most favourite actors of all! I love his Britishness a lot and especially his sense of humour. I believe he is absolutely irreplaceble. I can't even imagine any roles he played being played by other actors, no matter how good or famous they were! Hugh Grant, sir - huge respect to you - from your big, big fan from Poland!
He so honest and without pretensions. It is truly refreshing to see someone not grandiloquent who treats acting as some transcendental calling and every scene an inspiration from Athena. But, the real star of the show is Jenelle Riley. Her extensive knowledge of films, especially Hugh's and wonderful demeanor really made this interview a pleasure to watch.

Jenelle Riley gives good interview. It's a very subtle approach that seems, at first, very fan girl. But by the end of watching 4 or 5 of these things, you really feel like you've gotten a lot more out of any other interview of the same length. I'm looking at you, inside the actor's studio with your formulaic style.
A very good interview. Jenelle is a very good interviewer who knows her stuff. Such a change from the plastic bimbos!!!!I think Hugh has got better with age. I love his cynicism and dry wit. Thanks for sharing.X
"Very good looking and very badly behaved!" Our version of a bad boy that women love! Ha...love you, Hugh Grant. So down to earth and honest...you are the kind of man that opens up to so many opportunities. Love your work....from USA
This interview is unique in that the corporate proprietary formula isn't followed. She more seeks knowledge for interests sake almost as an empowered fan. Mr. Grant certainly seems to possess integrity and decency.
I used to think I watched his films because he was so handsome, but he's a very engaging and charming person and that comes through in his performances.
I'm amazed because he NEVER speaks about his Byron in the Spanish film Remarás al viento, Direced by Gonzalo Suárez (1988). This film is beautiful and for me is the best introduction to Romanticism we coud wish.
What a great interviewer she is!! Outstanding. She brought the best out of Hugh too - most interested and comfortable I have seen him in an interview - You can tell he respected her and appreciated her research, knowledge and personality.
this was really entertaining and fun i have a thing for how funny hugh is. and you know this woman is almost as charming as hugh is so it is very fun to see them have this conversation.
My fav of his is never mentioned in interviews: The Englishman who went up a hill but came down a mountain. Such an underrated film. Maybe the title put people off. Also, the timing...
Hugh Grant please keep making movies ~ not only for the reason that you're a brilliant, immensely talented actor, but also because I cannot get enough of you. Your interviews are consistently irresistible and delightful. I've been in love with you all my life. May I be your geisha girl? :)
Jenelle Riley-brilliant performance. And Hugh Grant is really entertaining. Lovely to see him relaxing and responding to Ms Riley as the interview goes on. Great interview. Thanks for posting.
I have only just recently become a big fan of Hugh Grant"s movies. "Rewrite", was the first one I saw, and I became an instant fan, I only wish I had seen them when they first came to the movie theatres.....Janelle, you are the best.
Hugh Grant must go on making movies for the simple fact that it forces him to also continue doing those hilarious interviews.
A w aag
The interviewer is the best I've ever seen. No interruptions, knows her stuff, and is obviously happy to do the interview.
She’s great and utterly charming

Absolutely. She did the recent one with Cillian Murphy too. And I think she's the one who interviewed Leonardo too.
So true - and sadly so rare !

1000% agree. Well-researched, engaging and she has a way of making people comfortable that they share more of themselves.

You´re very good at what you do, Jenelle.
Hugh Grant is a true gem. Such a highly intelligent, witty, hilarious, charming and gifted human being.
This interviewer is just lovely!
This is the best mood I've ever seen Hugh Grant in.
WHY DOESN'T JANELLE HAVE HER OWN TALK SHOW? SHE'S AN AWESOME INTERVIEWER. SHE ASKS PERFECT QUESTIONS, SEEMS ENGAGING, AND HAS A MAGNETIC PERSONALITY.
I agree

My thoughts exactly. She's an awesome interviewer.
