Chris de Burgh hasn’t over 25 albums and Lady in Red is not typical of his music. He is a master storyteller through music and I recommend The tower, The head and the Heart, In a country churchyard. He also writes wonderful love songs a couple to check out are Last moments of the Dawn and Forevermore.
Chris De Burgh is a British-Irish singer-songwriter & instrumentalist". "Lady In Red" is his most famous song in 1986. I had a couple of his albums. Other good songs are "Don't Pay The Ferryman", "Ship To Shore", "Spanish Train", "A Spaceman Came Travelling", "The Ecstasy Of Flight", "Flying Home", "Satin Green Shutters", High On Emotion", "Borderline", "Sailing Away", "Lonely Sky "etc.
A couple other people mentioned it…but “Don’t Pay The Ferryman” is the other song he’s most known for, from 1982. It was what he was known for before this song came out, and is his only other top 40 song in the US besides “The Lady In Red.”
He is irish, but his greatest success he had and has in Germany. He made wonderful music for decades beginning in the 70ies up to now. His music is somewhere between pop, rock an folk. He has a lot of stunning storytelling songs (for example borderline, the traveller, spanish train, crusader, eastern wind, girl with april in her eyes, revolution, patricia the stripper) als well as heartbreaking love ballads (the head and the heart, same sun, a rainy night in paris, i hat the love in my eyes, tonight, some things never change). It will be a pleasure for you, if you decide to enter ther rabbit hole....😉
This is from Chris de burgh 1986 album "into the light". It's the worst song on the album and the last song to be added to it and only then because it had only one the slow song on the whole album. Or check out something like "the traveller", don't pay the ferryman, crusader, the last time I cried or Oh, my brave hearts. There's dozens more too.
What a beautiful song. Most ladies would be honored to have it played for them ❣️
