I'm 100% P&T disabled. I hate it. Would gladly give back all my comp $$$ if I could have my health back. The anxiety and stress I have been dealing with is horrible. I have Parkinson's from Agent Orange in Vietnam. Meds don't help much. They cause even more anxiety. I feel like the life has been sucked out of me.
Amen, my friend! I would do anything to have my health back than be disabled! I would be happy to work at a gas station Blimpies Subs and to be able to hike in the woods!
For p&t, it's about 3800 per month tax free and tax free property depending on where you live. Free health care. Ability to earn up to current poverty level wages on the side which is 19,000 per year and many other benefits.
@@OSA4224 Claims go in to a national queue, so it does not matter what state you live in. I work for the VHA and know many VBA VSR's. The state has nothing to do with it.
This guy dont know what he talking about. Being disabled is no one desire but when u don't have the means to address it that's the problem. Being 💯 the VA P&T is no draw backs. Only Scheduler or TDUI is. Scheduler you have revaluate,TDUI you can't work period. 💯P&T provides u with things you can't get even at most jobs or even Medicaid or care, Dental and Vision without paying arm and leg to have. Beauty of 💯P&T u can still work if u like and have FULL medical coverage.
Let's see, before my rating, I was in constant pain, had an erratic work history, and money tended to be an issue. Now, I'm still in constant pain. I can't go get a job that I would end up losing because on some days, I couldn't get through a full day's work. What's the difference? Oh, I get 50k tax-free dollars, my wife gets CHAMPVA, we can pay ALL of our bills, and I've been vindicated for my service to my country. Yep, I guess none of that is a pro? Ummm, glad you didn't suck up Agent Orange as a young man, glad you didn't spend 6 months in a military hospital and glad the military didn't lose your records, and I'm glad all your missions aren't still classified and your FOIA isn't all redacted but your name. I'm glad you're totally functional. Me, I'll take the 50 grand because I F ing earned that and every Medal I was awarded.
I am with you brother..I am 100% p+t as well plus special compensation that brings in a few hundred more per month…i would be living on the streets in constant pain or dead without this compensation.
I’m 66, almost 67, rated at 70% P&T TDIU, so, I get paid at the 100% rate. I have several claims in and await a C&P. If I should win the lottery or my many, many years of waiting for an investment to pay off big, will I lose my military benefits with the TDIU or if and when I’m granted full P&T with SMC?
Any experience cancelling POA'a (power of attorneys) for a VSO who isn't answering questions, or returning emails. I called the VA to ask about it and they said I have to snail mail a letter, or a from to them, or fax it. I took notes, but got confused and tried to look up and understand the m21-1 part 1, Subpart i, 2.C.1.f and that completely baffled me even more.
Hey I signed up with a VSO when I first started the claim process but after doing my own research I submitted and fought my claim without ever using them. Hope this help
I am 100% P&T and retired and I'm 46. I could care less what anyone think we veterans have an unfair advantage because when everyone was partying we was digging fox holes and sacrificing.
I have had neck surgery 3 times so cant move very well. It's affected my whole life I'm 55 never been married, girls avoid me like the plague. Very beyond frustrating, so yes I agree! But others say I'm lucky maybe so but its frustrating.

Some vets will not work at 100% you will regret that at Social Security time as that check will be very small. Many vets take 100% and worry for eternity they will lose it. If you do you have no work history if you did not work. Its good for those who really need to be 100% . If you game the system , you will pay for it one way or another.
If it wasn't for the VA benefits I would only have $1000 for Social Security because I didn't work for the past 20+ years. So, yeah, I am glad I filed.
There is enough stigma with 100% VA without making others anxious about even applying. There is nothing good about being disabled. 20 years of dealing with the VA and civilians being disabled. The money is not great, btw. Not for 15+ years.

I am 100% as well and housebound losing my health sucks..I spent my 70th birthday in the hospital for lung cancer and copd.

There are no cons to being 100% service connected. I don't know any veteran who has anything negative to say about it.
The only con I can think of is if you're 100% TDIU then you are limited on your earned income each year.

I posted exactly how to do this from the VA website but for some reason it was deleted.
Yup, I became an alcoholic, not good.
One of the cons: General appearances and how others see you - questions, criticism, etc - and the anxiety it can cause.

@@SNOWMAN44468 Amen brother, I am 100% P&T and took 20 years to get it. Trump fixed the VA and Mr. Potato Head ruined it.
Easy solution for that is keep your disabilities and how much you get from the VA to yourself. It's nobody's business.
