Blondie playing "Mother of Earth" by The Gun Club live at CBGB's in New York City on October 14, 2006. This was the club's second to last day before closing for good.

JLP idolized Debbie Harry, it's a beautiful thing to see her pay homage by covering perhaps his best song.
Emotionally, heart felt tribute to JLP by Debra. When Jeffrey was a teen, he adored Blondie. Later, Debra, Chris Stein, and Jeffrey became friends, and collaborated together, with Chris producing one of his albums. Debra truly cared about him. She arranged for, and persuaded him, to sign himself into rehab on more than one occasion. Rest with the angels Jeffrey.
Loved Gun Club since early teendom in the 80's. I always liked Blondie ok,but after Harry's collaboration and friendship with JLP I gained even more respect.I only wish the rehabs had worked. It was such a fucking waste of talent, like Billie Holiday.
JLP was at one time leader of the Blondie fan Club in LA
@@kevincarlson668yes, it's hurt me so much. He was so beautiful person. Very talented, criminally underrated.
@@postpunk6947 Yep,in a sane music scene,country,and universe he'd have been huge.
any version of this song....still gives me shivers.
RIP Jeffrey Lee Pierce of GUN CLUB.
One of the best songs ever written by anyone
What a great song this is. Nice version which has the spirit of the Gun Club original about it. Fine testament to Jeffrey Lee Pierce. I am absolutely sure that he would have much appreciated this.
RIP Jeffrey Lee Pierce, a true Chicano musician.
Beauty exists under every stone that's turned and every song that's ever sung by this most remarkable woman.
There should have been reverent silence when she was singing this. Young people can be so callow.
How wonderful
may be one of the best Gun Club`s songs/ as for me
Cool stuff well done Debbie.
This is so amazing, what a peace of history, blondie(the greatest and indeed still good looking diva, covering the amazing Gun club,at cbgb. this should have a million views, well shot mate
JLP would have liked this, ..... a lot, great
Didn't they (Debbie and Chris) produce the Miami album? JLP was a huge Blondie fan too.
Debbie Harry did backing vocals on the Miami album (under a different name, can't think of it right now but just look at the album cover), yes, I guess when he was the president of the fan club he was just hanging around a bit too much.... Anyway, they did do appreciate his music. I believe it was them to suggest he should start his own band
@@enricomilano I think she used the name DH Lawrence
correct DH Lawrence
I wish crowds would shut up sometimes...I don't get it, you pay to see the band and then you talk while they are trying to create a mood....ah forget it who cares. Long live JLP....
Debra looks hot!!!! I'd leave with her in a flash.
Awesome moment the idiots missed - but that's the world...
Bryan McCarthy amen dude
"Whatta ya doing after the show? Yeah! Grab me another beer. I love your boots. This band? .."
Hey, that's rock 'n roll.
Beautiful Debbie. Touching.
So cool! This is amazing! Jeffrey Lee was such a Blondie fanatic. I love this so much! Great cover on an amazing song ✌️
not a blondie fan but it's so friggin cool she plays this.
magic and awsome! thanks
so sad he passed in 96, miss him everyday
love it , got the vibes
What a moment! Thank you for sharing this.
That I should find your comment here three years after you passed on is as surprising as it is expected.
I love and miss you brother.
@@cromcourtney5639 what a moment indeed.

Jlp awesome
A post monkees-era Michael Nesmith would have done a great version of this
JLP was a fan of blondie as young , they meet in a concert in Amsyerdam , he would have like that, great debbie
I think he led a major Blondie fan club too
Chris Stein produced Miami. & Under the Gun, from No Exit.
Blondies song "son of a gun" is dedicated to JLP aswell
Song by the Gun Club, Debbie's outfit by Exene Cervenka.
Haha!
You serious?...the outfit part.
@@Putocurioso No, I just mean it was the kind of thing Excene might have worn.

The Lie...
she's ashamed or read the text ? debbie oooh ...
c'est pas Jeffrey
She seemed uncomfortable talking to Jeffrey. I don't fully buy it!
Jeff hated Chris and Debbie, listen to the lie. They stabbed Jeff in the back.
Ivy? Your on the wrong track...
+M Mckissack your absolutely right
Samara X ok george
They might have had a little misunderstanding at one point but he didn't hate them, hate is too much of a big word for this situation. I'm sick of seeing you spreading false rumors and LIES, you've been commenting under pretty much all Gun Club's videos here. I don't know what your goal is?? But anyways ..I saw the horrible things you wrote about Patricia Morisson: it was absolutely disgusting, totally disrespectful.
My comment was for mister Mckissack.
she's ashamed or read the text ? debbie oooh ...
