many years ago when i played, the guides had the default LCD soundsystem music and were made in moviemaker. its so cool to me that Gunz has persisted to the point in time where high quality guides like this are made about it. Thanks for the video
Thank you for the kind words! We really wanted to give GunZ the guides it deserves, even though we have a lot of love for the people who did the best with what they had before us
The infamous Trance - 009 Sound System Dreamscape, unregistered hypercam 2 and typing on notepad in the video.
yo what was the LCD sound system song? any idea?
These videos makes me feel like im watching a runescape guide and I love it
I'm literally playing OSRS right now
@@GunZAcademy same 💀💀
Lol especially with music and the pre-requisites
Hey goat
@@jaydonsmith3434 hello my good friend 👊🏽
I have no idea how UA-cam still knows that I played Gunz, considering that that was 20 years ago. It was fun seeing, which moves I was confident I still had in me (I can do up to a variety of Flash Steps), but there were still a lot I had no idea about. All the ones involving reload shot were way above my head haha.
I totally relate, I took an extended break and when I came back so much new stuff had been discovered!
The only game where the moves and my bind keys are ingrained in my head. Haven't played in a long time tho. I miss this game so much 😂.
i don't play gunz, but massive props for making this guide. many older games lack stuff like this. 10/10.
Curious, how did you come across the video then?
UA-cam @@Ammut6
You should try it
Glad you guys are doing this. I'll be sure to send newer players here.
The feels is real, never had i played any other game that got my body trembling & shivering from the adrenaline rush.
so nostalgic, thank you for reminding me of this glorious game
You know it's good when people still play 20 years later!
🚨Banger video alert 🚨
Ecstatic to see another video in the series wanted to get into this game forever and I’m just the kind of Person that learns through watching hours of guides and learning the ins and outs of how a movement system works. Even the most popular movement games are lucky to get this kind of treatment, the level of comprehensiveness in these guides is astounding and just want to let you know many new players will appreciate these efforts more than you know,! Thanks for preserving such a cool game much love and keep up the content
That means A TON! Really, thank you very much and if this helps at all, we'll be ecstatic 😄
good on you for keeping the dream alive, just getting back into it myself, i always thought the game disbanded after ijji went under, so glad to see people still keeping this game alive. such a unique experience like no other
Haven't played in a very long time. Decided to try it again a couple of days ago and perfect timing I see this video for tutorials on all the movements techs. Thanks for this in depth step by step guide. I keep coming back to this video when I'm practicing.
Welcome back! Really glad it's helpful. Hopefully we'll see ya in game :)
Congratulations friend, what an amazing video (even though I've been playing for a while, I've had a lot of doubts about movements that I couldn't do) ^^
Thank you for the kind words, I hope this helps you 🙏🏻
this is so well made omg
Wowow I’m excited to see more!
Gunzacademy top1
Great guide! Honestly this game seems very overwhelming to me as someone who has never played it, but you did a great job simplifying it all.
Actual good guide with techniques that did see use back when I used to play, including some stuff I didn't remember being named techniques back when. Would love to see some guides on Gladiator, and maybe questing and D-Style (admittedly harder content to do, hard to find strong D-stylers around these days and questing was never mainstream enough though I might have some old texts lying around somewhere).
wow this guide is just packed full of useful information and simple life reminders.
Very good initiative, thank you. @GunZAcademy 💯
Literally replaying earthbound as I watch this . Mandatory like ❤️
Man this brings me back.... running those iron gauntlets and that leather top piece w/ no shoes and those greenish pants w/ double shotty and the gold sword.
Great video!
great montage, best video to learn new moves
awesome tut
what a perfectly put thoghter video very great will be looking forward for new videos
Great guide. I love your presentation style with the background music and clean simple overlays.
I did notice there was no mention of dashbreak, perfect blink, quickblock variant demonstations like qb fbs or even qbldrhs. Also there isnt much melee depth which i know in the current meta isnt as focused on but some things from the glad world are so so useful in certain scenarios/maps.
Also qb blink, blinking out of blockrush/launch. Another minor point is that dhs and fbs can be done with gundashes its just slow and not super useful. So technically ld isnt a prereq but i understand keeping things straightforward for learners.
Was surprised to see the velostop stuff as thats fairly new! Kudos! To really show how janky it can look perhaps combo it fast. Vsldrhs when chained looks wild as does adding a blink after.
stutterstep wasnt mentioend which is just dash slash block which effectively looks like a jankier blockrush. Can also be blinked outof and added to the end of any grounded move with sword out.
calling it tripleflashstep to me feels like there should be 3 slashes (and switches to weps) but thats minor. Weve always said dfs.
The concept of angling dashes to map creep as opposed to just side to side or even conforming movement to map specific combat points etc. Im sure all considerations for future vids.
All in all fantastic stuff,
Cheers!
Thanks for the feedback! A lot of stuff was internally discussed and included/excluded for various reasons. We do have an in depth gladiator guide in the pipeline! Felt it would be too chunky to add to this, even though we called it 'comprehensive', haha.
To be honest this tutorial really was needed, especially with the new players wave and also the lack of tutorials in english (Most of tutorials are outdated or not so in depth)
I played a lot of gunz and now I realize I didn't see everything! Great tutorial.
Thank you! I certainly learned stuff in the process of us making this guide, haha.
15 years ago i used to play almost every hour i wasn't at school. I remember destroying 2 membrane keyboards lol. My friends didn't understand how i managed to do Late Dash with the deafault config lol. The answer is that i was addicted to Training in Town xD. I loved GunZ, it was my fav game for so many years. Even if i don't play it anymore i still think it is.
This is legendary….gunz man ❤
One of the best tutorial ❤
Thank you for the kind words! Send the new players our way 😀
I rarely comment, but this video was so well made, amazing job
I was watching the K-style 15yo guide and then this awesome guide came out one hours right after lol
Amazing video
Nice skills bro!
love your vids bro helps me so much get back into gunz
YEEEEEES, keep it alive! Game is too awesome
You keep the community alive. I learned so much stuff from your last video And going into training but some things I learned just go out the window when I get into an actual gun fight😂
@@doomsday9321 the adrenaline of real combat suddenly makes the moves that much harder 🥲
Fantastic video and channel as a 1 stop guide to learn the game, a video going over different "sample" keybind configs and common binds people use would be a great addition too imo
I use M4 for sword and right click for reload, wheels for shotguns and people think I'm crazy but I truly believe this is the easiest keybinds because it is logic and comfortable to use, just have to trigger the 4 fingers for almost all moves in an order but almost at same time, the fingers don't have to move, people using M5 for weapon or sword are crazy
@@Assassunn im not new but i use reload m4 sword m5 guns on wheel, i can just roll my thumb over m4 m5 for late dash and stuff and lets me keep block on right click for bf
@@Frekeyy now you build up your muscle memory but it's intriguing why people want absolutely block ok right click when there's a finger that is only used for shift and doesn't incapacitate neither WSQD dashes nor double butterfly execution
@@Assassunn right click block just feels good, most people dont have as much dexterity in their pinky making it feel a bit more awkward to just tap block with it, i instead have flip on it for block rush and whatnot (could also bind something on ctrl still) im not saying my bind are better or worse, its just personal preference after all. overall they are pretty similar to yours aswell. (also what is WSQD ?)
@@Frekeyy WASD I meant the movements keys. Yes right click for block if def comfortable but you make a good point about pinky and morphology maybe it depends of the hand size, I'm lucky my pinky is by default resting in shift key then!
Changed my reload keybind to right click after 15 years. Really makes all the reload related tech much easier.
Heck yeah! It's amazing the difference a single keybind can make.
I started the game yesterday, thank you
Excellent decision
Amazing guide well done!
Tyvm mr bastard, sir 🙏
i have waited for a game like this all my life and now i found it
Glad you're here 😄
nice vid
let's rock steady I'm so ready
💯💯💯💯💯
Neat...
This would be very useful for possible new players...
Should help to keep the game alive...
Subb+
necessary video
goood video
Well i know what video to reccomend to all the new players now! 😅 ❤
That means a lot, thanks ❤️
Ay time to break my fingers learning gdhs 😂
cool channel bro
Which key you set your block button ?
Respect ++
What weapons are best used and cause the most damage?
The "meta" is usually two shotguns and a katana (the standard sword)
could you make a combat etiquette video?Im having trouble keeping up with some other players and would reaally appreciate it!
Definitely hoping to get something like this out soon! Thanks for the suggestion :)
damn wall post late dash brings me to 800 APM, very satisfying technique
Prooooo
I also use a move a lot that I cant find in your video. It's called Break Dash.
We mention it briefly, under half step, since the inputs are the same but with different timing 😉 We tried to trim down the video where we could and it still ended up being this long, haha
wow
Could there be any potential problems down the line if i get used to holding down the shoot button WHERE IT'S POSSIBLE to ensure i always get the perfect timing on the input?
For example, on the half step, when slashing, holding down the shoot button while changing weapons to ensure the shotgun fires on the earliest possible frame, and then releasing it to be able to slash again after dashing. Would this be a bad habit?
I think it comes down to personal preference! Holding click for moves that slash->gun->shoot or even shoot->other gun->shoot makes perfect sense to me =]
the double light step... when i learn it (i learned it all alone) i used to call it a Fakie
Solid name, I can see why :D
@GunZAcademy bro idk, im like 1 month new and know like the things till LD HS and can chain pretty well :D and wanna ask whats in your opinion the best k-style move for fighting😅.I love the game and your guide keeping up the games and the newbies❤
It might sound oversimplified, but being able to 'top speed' reload shot. Getting out two shots from nearly every move will increase your DPS a lot (assuming you hit, haha.) A lot of new players will get obsessed with using moves when walking + RSing would've been optimal in a given situation (flanking and the enemy hasn't seen you yet, for example.) Next would be traversing the map well/fluidly (not exactly a move, but something worth practicing)
Thanks for the love, I love this game to and want to help it grow
@@GunZAcademy I support you very much i try teach new players too. I have a problem with my aim. I dont know but tell me if im wrong: so when for example u dash right(lets say this can be every direction) and u are far away from target doo u aint below them and a bit to left or what. This principle can be used in other directions, but from my testing and analyzing i cant tell if my theory is right. Fun fact: u probably know the item Deadly katana or libel katana, the pull animation combined and chained with flash step is yummi iykyk :D. Thank you for your patience
@@Ukyy75 So, when aiming I generally try to "lead" my target a tiny bit, not because I think this is where one SHOULD aim, but to compensate for my own 'brain lag'. In a perfect world, I try to aim right at someone's belly. Now, there is some nuance about how your bullets travel, because they actually DO move from your gun barrel to the center of the screen, so sometimes a point blank shot can be strong even if you aren't aiming directly at them, because the bullets travelled through their body. Not sure if I'm being clear. But, generally, try to aim 'center of mass' and maybe lead a tiny bit in front of them.
@@GunZAcademy okey i understand. One good example of your saying is when you jump and aim bellow them the bullets will hit anyway. Thank you!
bro, i like th evideo and everything, but what keys are you using
We have a video coming up about keybinds 😄 but all three people behind this video actually use different keybinds. I will tell you what I (bonedamage) use:
Sword = q or mb5
Reload = m4 or mid mouse button
Gun 1 = scroll down
Gun 2 = scroll up
Default everything else!
What’s your key binds
do you think i should change my sword keybind to do late dash i currently use Q
It's really tough to LD without sword bound to a mouse key of some kind... I have my sword bound to both Q and M5, using M5 for LD tech and Q for things like flash step. (A lot of people also put sword on scroll wheel)
What key binds?
!!!!!
What map it is?? rlly apreciated
This is a map called "Superflip", some servers only have it available as a skill map!
how do you guys do it so quickly, I can never do more than one shoot per jump
Tons of practice!! And getting shoot->reload->pull out next gun (reload shot) timing down is definitely tricky but worth it.
what server(s) do you play on?
freestyle GunZ (fgunz) and FxP GunZ, mostly!
Why isnt there a way to bind dash to a key like control instead of double tapping. I have read the thread about it but it seems to come down to you have to go through the same pain we went through. Unless I am missing something this would just make it a lot easier to get into the game and learn k style as its a way more up to date control scheme and one many are probably familair with.
think about it tho... do you really want to have another key you have to press to dash, when you already have so many other keys to input?
if so... what key are you going to bind your dash to?
Well asuming you bind alternate fire to shift and block to right click control is free. I dont see the downside of adding an option which might make the learning curve a bit better. It would make dashing easier as pressing 2 buttons with 2 different fingers can be done far faster than 1 twice with the same hand.
im not saying it's a bad idea! but i personally think that having to stretch your fingers out to tap another key is going to be a bad time
watching this video while i eat
what is the point of light step
Admittedly, it has limited, though you can traverse about the map with it fairly quickly (since you can get two dashes in a single jump.) The main reason we include it is because often new players struggle with slashing too soon; teaching light step like this before slash shot/butterfly/halfstep can help get those timings down better.
also what is the point of butterfly just blocking in the air sorta?@@GunZAcademy
Butterfly has a lot of uses! It lets you move, attack, and block basically at the same time. If your opponent is close then you get to slash them, and if they are far away then you get to block some of their bullets. Win win :) @@Ryan-so4xl
Surprised there isn't Void slash. Kodachi benefits the most out of it.
Hah, yeah we left it on the cutting room floor after some inner discussion. There were a few slightly obscure things we didn't end up including, trying to trim down *some* of the fat as we saw the runtime reaching over 40 minutes 😋
@@GunZAcademy That I can't blame you, it also cuts borderline "cheating" depending on delay on the official server at the time. RB being the fastest at 260 MS, others will see you freezing up and dealing with a lot of damage. Most servers tend to keep all kodachi at 290 which feels slow to me. Either way, subbed, and hope to see some more videos in the future. I need to redeem myself on this game
Is GunZ getting popular again like when all the smash players came over?
Or is it just coming up on my algorithm again.
It had a pretty big boom recently due to some tiktoks! One server got player count over 1000 concurrent and a lot of the new players have stuck around :)
THESE ARE SO HARD
But so satisfying when you finally get them down! Welcome to GunZ 🤠
How many buttons can you fit in a second
Advanced move players:💀💀
cool guide. do female base melee quicker? why does everyone pick females even today?
Female model is visually smaller so it is easier to see/aim around and also easier to hide behind walls/boxes on the map.
How do I play with other new players 😭
fgunz probably has the most new players, game modes like deathmatch are probably your best bet (chaotic as they might be)
Whats the map name?
This is a map called Superflip
wall climbing my fingers are sore and i haven't yet done the entire town map hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh damn
I'll come back to this later
It's a workout! As you practice, your fingers will get more and more used to it, I promise
So... Many... Buttons...
이러니깐 건즈 안하지
Doesn't seem complete. I think we need an official complete version, so the art won't be lost in time.
petition to remake this on roblox (cuz i think lowkey their engine is better)
Hahaha, I think if I signed up at Roblox at my age I'd get put on some kind of list
The only game where the moves and my bind keys are ingrained in my head. Haven't played in a long time tho. I miss this game so much 😂.
