Fred, thank you for giving me the credit of annoying you enough to display the bottle. To make a Seinfeld reference, I’m taking credit for the big salad. 😂😂😂
Fred I think you are hitting your stride with reviews now. The reviews are good, the length of the reviews are good, and we can now see the bottle on the screen. This is all great. Honestly you could start over and re-review every bottle on your shelf and I’d watch them all, if they are this format.
I was having a hard time with a different bourbon axe and oak 7 year CS. I said it was just flat on the nose and weak in the flavor. You said it right, traditional subtle notes but you have to go find them. I had it again last night and said. There has to be something here. And you sit for a while with it. It took me 20 min to get some of it out But here i'm saying orange creamcicle and vanilla frosting. I was about to get this penelope soon and thought lets see what fred says. Some were not too blown away with flavors. But didn't express the nuance as good as you. I'm a beginner in search of nuance and value. Take you time folks. I needed to with a different brand. Some hit you over the head hard with flavor and aroma.
We can't see the neck, Fred! Cut the box down 2" and move it back 6'' and we're in business 😁. I hear this rel is one of their very best. I'm sorry we didn't include it in our recent tasting with them. Next time for sure. Thx, cheers!
I recently picked up a bottle of this and it says "Distilled in Indiana and Kentucky". I know the Indiana component is MGP, as you said, but do you have any idea where the Kentucky component would be coming from? It would have to be at least 9 years old according to the label, correct?
@@TylerHilyard Thanks for the info. Still weird to me that it says "distilled in" if it was only bottled in KY, but it seems like labels for whiskey can get pretty confusing.
Everyone loves this one. I havent cracked mine yet, just have too many bottles. Im probably preachin to the choir there but I hope this becomes a regular annual release.
Just picked up this bottle after watching your review. I love it too. Note: It’s distilled in Indiana AND KY. Heard that KY distillate could be Lux Row…
I passed on this last week at my local ABC after staring at it for 10 mins. It’s $90 in VA which seems to be $20 more than everywhere else. Might have to order one now, thanks for the nudge!
I have this bottle stashed away for later consumption. If you liked the Penelope Rose you need to try the Penelope Valencia as it's one of the better wine finishes I've tasted.
With all the whiskey that Fred drinks, has he ever said what he finds more interesting - regular old bourbon with interesting flavor or does it have to be a finished/blended something new to be more exciting?
Great analogy and tasting points… I always enjoy your detailed opinions…. I didn’t hear you mention anything about an oak presence… I’m curious if it was there or possibly just muted on that 9 yr age statement…. Thanks!
Fred! When are you gonna give props to your Cowboys for winning the last Bedlam?! Congrats! What a game! Oh yeah - thanks for the bourbon vids too. Lol
What in the world do you do eith all your open bottles. Do you just have shelves and shelves of nearly full bottles? Also let me know if you need help moving in the future 😅
I picked up a bottle of this about 2 months ago and it's wonderful. I'm beginning to appreciate Penelope and what they do more and more. This one was well worth the price for it being MGP.

The taters, they don’t like Penelope, thankfully
I’ve begun stacking Penelope because I love what they’re doing!

I picked one up and returned to the store to buy 5 more the next day.
Back in 1965, people talked like Foghorn Leghorn after drinking 109 proof Bourbon.
Turn your gain down
Got this bottle 2-3weeks and it’s amazing! Thanks for the great notes I missed the first time through. Cheers! 🥃
Bought a bottle yesterday for $74 bucks. Worth every freakin penny.
I really liked this one too. Very sweet sugary. Easy sip

Just ordered a bottle, very much looking forward to trying it.
Easily one of my favorites of 2023! Cheers Fred and Keep rocking 🥃

The bottling plant is in Bardstown, KY.

Really enjoying this Penelope 9 year and looking forward to the upcoming Club Marzipan Penelope pick

A local store to me had a 4-grain barrel strength pick that was fantastic a couple years ago. I'd give them another go for sure someday
Great review. Picked this up a few months ago. So glad I got it. Also found and bought Penelope Rio and Valencia. 🥃
Saw this bottle on SLB channel today also, off to the store..
Grabbed a bottle a few weeks back and absolutely love it. Solid hit from MGP/Penelope
Just found this in a store. Picked it up on a whim. Good move on my part, have yet to open however.

Just cut the seal on one to try tonight.
Great video. I really enjoy the Penelope products.
It's phenomenal!!!

I would've loved to have had a pour with you last Saturday after that Bedlam win.
i was soaking it all and then went back to OKC
@@FredMinnick we basked in the glory for a while and then went back home to watch Norman collapse.
Not sure what marzipan even is! Time to research…

I'm glad I got this bottle before this review 😂 Otherwise this would have ruined my chances!
Too wary to buy one. Bought one of their red label barrel strength and it’s trash.
