    Anywhere I can see before/after pics and floor plans? I’ve got a late 70s split level that I want to open up like this one but I’m not sure where to begin

    Why not give a cost range? So frustrating that this is often left out. We’re smart enough to know “it depends” but not gonna spend $2k w/ designer to find out need to spend $300k on a $150k house to transform it like this.

      sometimes its worth it though bc you can get a split level for a way lower price in a good location

      @@Goldenretriever-k8m I agree, give us some numbers so we know what this would cost and if it's worth it?

    Impressive... But surely not affordable for your average home owners.
    We LOVE those 70s split level homes. They just don't build them like they used to! By the way, not everyone likes the open concepts, you know. Sometimes it's nice to have private areas to yourself. Having said that, updating and modernizing those private areas would be a better way to go.

      so true that you cant get privacy in those open concept houses.. for some reason everyone thinks it always has to be open concept or go home. i just bought a 70s split level and moved into it today, it needs sooo much work to update it, and there is no way i could afford to make it like this one in the video

      @@Goldenretriever-k8m I like the more private places, little nooks. I like a lot of retro features- like the folding doors they did away with on a hall closet and the pink kitchen, lol.

    Lovely home! But are we gonna talk about how big that renovation guy is compared to the other three? He could literally take them on in a WWE smackdown. lol!!

    It's nicer yes but they pretty much just gutted that house, and started over. Not really a renovation more of a redo, hard to tell, not many before photos or architectural plan shown.

      That is the definition of a home renovation, not a remodel.

    I like the 70s, styles, specially the expensive stuff, and was great colours, now everything is white and greay just boring.

      @@hassankhan384 we just got a 70s split level and man, the bathroom is banana pudding yellow, the toilet, the tub, the sinks.. at first i hated it bc i was used to the modern look but now it grew on me and i think it is so cute and unique! but i dont know if a renter or future buyer would like it so much

    I have a split-level home. I'm not sure how I'd afford these types of renovations. They look great, though.

  • @reamce

    I preferred it before. Every professional renovation these days looks exactly the same: cold, without feeling or humanity. Simply hideous in my opinion,

    • @Goldenretriever-k8m
      @Goldenretriever-k8m 3 роки тому +2

      it does look cold. its nice with the windows and the access to the yard, but there is something cold about all of it. even the huge windows is creepy to me.

      Especially now considering 70's interior design is back. Imagine if they reversed it, "So we got rid of the white walls. We felt they were very sterile like a hospital, so we made the walls a nice warm cream colour to give the room a cozy feel."
