It always pleases me to see indie developers get success with their projects. My game library is full of indie games these days and only a few big name releases because while the quality of triple A games seems to be declining the quality of indie games is increasing. I'll be putting this on my wish list.
The tears of joy are flowing at seeing a game that isn't an abysmal mess at release. I definitely will be trying out the demo and hats off to this development team, they have a bright future ahead of them!!!
I have to say, this channel is by far one of the best (if not the best) channel for honest, informative and entertaining video game reviews. Hats off to you guys for all you’ve done whilst balancing home life. Especially for the past couple of years! Thanks from me and behalf of everyone else who watches and thoroughly enjoys your content. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for this channel! 💯🙌🏻
I went from never having heard of the game to now being super excited for this developer as a whole and hyped to see where the success of this game takes them.
Exceptional review! I hope the devs get the love they deserve and keep making games. Saying that they seem promising is a massive understatement. I look forward to playing the game.
Supporting Indie games is so important. Especially when they show what is possible, and give a digital spanking to the big developers when they make/rush weak games. I am excited to try this!
@@thehighboy719 Yes it's an action jrpg series that's been around since the 80's and the games are a lot of fun. Ys VIII and IX are the most recent and most modern titles and if you like Ultra Age you'd probably like Ys as well. Oh and just fyi, it's pronounced like "Eee-ss".
I've just started playing the demo and I was surprised to see how well it runs. Weirdly, the most surprising element to me is how bad the main protagonist's model looks in the menu where everything else is very decent looking when fighting. It's also quite surprisingly stable. I think I'll wait for the retail version though (sometimes, leaving in Japan has its perks).
I made a comment on the Rico: London review suggesting the Switch is becoming underpowered. How this game has proved me wrong 😅 While I'd like a Switch Pro, Ultra Age shows that game performance is still determined by developer skill rather than hardware limitations.
Monster Hunter Rise is a peak example, that Switch is still capable, but it all comes down to multiplatform development and sorry state of current engines.
WickedRibbon Most software developers aren’t really that good at writing software so i am inclined to blame much of it on the software engineering. Even great games like Celeste have bad code so i wonder how bad it is for the games that don’t perform well.
Plenty of games already exist on Switch that would have demonstrated this. Compare something like Luigi's Mansion, Doom Eternal or Astral Chain to the slew of shitty Unity ports we get. Unfortunately it is far to easy for some to play the meaningless "underpowered" card rather than put on their critical thinking caps and ask why some games achieve drastically better results on the same hardware.
This looks great! If I had any money to spare, I would pick this up. For now, i'll just have to be satisfied with watching reviews and playing the demo :)

This project really strikes me as a great example of what a group of developers who know their craft but who also know their limits are able to achieve when they have a tight focus. In many ways it reminds of things that the Corridor Digital channel talks about with regards to visual effects. They probably don't have the biggest budget, but they're trying to fit what they can while still attaining a reasonably high level of polish.

Honestly; all the Switch needs to do is continue to release games that are on par with this game's level of performance or better (when it's a PS3 gen port) until we get a Switch 2; and we should be fine. If a 4 man team could pull this off; there is no way a big company like Sega; can't give us a Wii port at 60fps without glitches.
After a very disappointing but long wait for Baldo, would love to check this out! Curious to see how this compares to MH Rise, for some reason gives me similar vibes
This is reminiscent of the recent Scarlet Nexus while also giving off Nier Automata and Astral Chain vibes. For a four-man team, coming up with a game this good as their first foray is already a massive achievement considering the tons of bloatware plaguing the Eshop these days. For the price, I think this is great value for gamers looking for the next adrenaline rush after No More Heroes 3.
I was hoping yall would cover this. The demo was a ton of fun, just too short. Really enjoyed the mechanics behind it. Kind of the usual deal with weapons but a nice spin by them breaking but getting a super move with it. The controls felt really smooth and fun to fight and swap weapons. Definitely want to get this game, especially hearing that the final product is great. Hidden gem for sure, saw nothing about this game until about 2 weeks ago and happy about that cause this got me hyped quick, the wait would have sucked. Haha.
I really need to play something like this after playing a lot of slower paced open world games. Looks fantastic! I hope it's going to be a success for the devs.
This game came out of nowhere and now I'm excited for it. It's nice to see a game that looks like this runs well on the Switch. Kudos to the team and thank you for the in-depth review.
The framerate and animation quality in particularly is fairly impressive after seeing some of the crap released recently. They can always make improvements in DLC or in a sequel.
Oh, now I have to check out this demo. Hanging out for the Hot Wheels and Cruis'n Blast reviews later in the month, too. So many good looking games coming up.
This looks fantastic- I hadn't heard of this before and now I have to get it. This looks a bit like Astral Chain which is one of my favorites. Great review as always!
Oh wow, that is impressive. I feel like when a team is smaller on Switch the games turn out better. Thank you guys for the quality reviews and other videos. Please consider me for the game 🤞🏻
I initially wrote it off when I saw it in the shop thinking it would run awful on the Switch. Glad it actually seems to perform well abd looks sick. Will pick this up!
This is my first comment and I've been subscribed for a while. This looks exactly like the game I've been waiting for. So glad you did this review. I haven't been excited for a Switch title for a long time and I'm finally excited again. Thanks. I'll be getting the demo as soon as I'm home from work.
This looks like a game I will have to repeatedly stop myself from buying until I clear up some of my backlog lol it’s insane how four people were able to do what big studios couldn’t, looks amazing!

Haha.
been excited about this one! great review, thank you fellas!
The game is awesome. Checkpoints could’ve been more generous. English voice acting is always appreciated. Ur doing 1000’s of damage u must b far!
I will definitely be checking out the demo!! Thanks for the review
Those first 15 seconds were a bit too accurate lads hahaha. Looks dope tho! Cheers as always!
The framerate and animation quality in particularly is fairly impressive after seeing some of the crap released recently. They can always make improvements in DLC or in a sequel.
Downloading this right away thanks for the great review !
This definitely slashed its way onto my wishlist. What an unexpected surprise for today!
GREAT review. Certainly informed enough to check out that demo! As i've kind of been hankering for a bit of carnage. Thanks :D
New to your channel and just wanted to say thanks for this review. Never even saw this title on a radar. Thanks for sharing your review!
Oh wow, that is impressive. I feel like when a team is smaller on Switch the games turn out better. Thank you guys for the quality reviews and other videos. Please consider me for the game 🤞🏻
This'll be on my must buy list for sure after this fantastic review. Big thanks to y'all
Thanks for the good review per usual!! I’m excited to pick this one up at some point! The combat just looks like so much fun.
It reminds me of Nier Automata meets Final Fantasy XV meets Monster Hunter Rise.
Definetely putting this on my wishlist.
4 people made this game?!?! Super impressed! Breath of fresh air after a string of cuestionable releases.
Absolutely agree mate
This looks great. I’m putting it at the top of wish list. Thanks for the vid
Thanks for this! I had no idea this was even a thing but am downloading the demo now after hearing your thoughts! Looks promising and up my alley 😁
Thanks for this. Looks like and awesome game. Getting it for sure.
Wow, this looks incredible! Thanks so much for the in depth review!
This looks like a game I will have to repeatedly stop myself from buying until I clear up some of my backlog lol it’s insane how four people were able to do what big studios couldn’t, looks amazing!
You had me at blade skilltrees
Finally good news! I've been dissappointed with some games I was eager to purchase.. until the reviews made me change my mind.
But this one's promising :D
Woah 84% as a first outing?! Definitely gonna check this out. Looking forward to more from this developer team
First saw a post about this game in our local game shop. Tthe post itself caught my attention but your video pulled me more.
