I have been learning sign for about 5 years through videos, churches, and library free classes. I met yesterday someone who signs and is deaf. I thought it might be rude to interrupt but I so wanted to address my fear of rejection, that I did interrupt. I was asked my name and I explained I am learning and I'm slow. To my embarrassment, I didn't quite get his name but he was so nice and although I didn't quite understand his signing as my receptive skills are a weak part in my learning, I did feel like I addressed that fear finally, which means, I would be more apt to try conversing in the future. I pray I will be given another opportunity. Best day in ASL.
I've been with a deaf partner for 3 years now and I'm fairly fluent at this point but you've taught me a lot of new signs I didn't know! Impressed my partner with some of the signs he was like "i dont remember teaching u that one yet!" And he's said i have less of a "hearing accent" since ive been watching your videos. You're one of my favorite people on here ❤😊
Hey there! Glad you find it helpful... remember if you prefer the "full immersion" style, just simply hit the "mute" button and ta dah! If you are in an advanced ASL class, there are several others on my page... check out the poetry/song series there are 5, I believe... good vocab content in those too. Oh, dont forget to hit subscribe so you dont miss out on up and coming videos! Best wishes!
I try my best. Did you happen to see the poetry series? There are 5 and just as good as Slang etc.. and signs that are used all the time in converstaions. :) Here is part 1. hope this helps! ua-cam.com/video/TTK4UxE_qhM/v-deo.html
Surprise myself when able to use right after learning! Fiancée (deaf) ask me if I need help with dog. I say i got this. He ask if I sure so I say no big deal. He look little surprised (I think) cause new slang I use. Able to use more when we watch movie!
Never thought of that one, but I LOVE pets so yes that could do! Do you mean like “feeding”, “washing” “grooming? And lastly, Do you work at a pet/vet clinic? Great idea.
@@melissacayton1111i do dog/catsit for family and friends,- I love animals. So,,, dogs and cats love// need thorough massage//replicate the effects of rough play, essential for physical health, I imagine it would be really fun, and useful, for future chat in the neighbourhood dog park?
So glad I found your AWESOME content, well produced, full ASL speed videos!!! Yay you are my UA-cam hero! I saw in another video you do zoom lessons and I’d love to get some with you before you’re too famous to offer them! ;). I’m not sure how to contact you on UA-cam or if you have a website or something? Thank you!!
Hello Nov R, thanks for all your amazing feedback, support and love for them! A UA-cam hero! LOVE that. I totally get that on so many levels. Id love to do a Zoom class with you! To start I would probably email me at melissacayton671@gmail.com; im still working out some details for other communication options.
This is great! Thanks for these lessons. One question: The sign you used for Good Luck I've seen used for Too Bad. Is the only difference the facial expression (sarcastic version of Bless You). Is there a different sign for Too Bad?
Thank you! I am unsure of the context of how "good luck" and "too bad" was used for, but sitting here thinking about it... I do not believe they are the same (at all). Could it be possible that you saw the movement of the sign, and felt it looked the same? The handshapes "T-B" (Thrown out) for Too Bad (Thrown out) and the handshape U to be used as "good luck/bless you". Two very separate meanings.. and yes. Good Luck (more of brows raised, that attitude/sass with the facial grammar) and I have not seen any other sign for Too Bad. Unless you are referring to "Ohhhh thats too bad you cant go to the party", but that's a different meaning all on its own. I hope this makes sense. :)
I love your vedios… I just wanna ask that you are sometimes signing the word fast… if you can just sign it 2 or 3 times so we can get Sometimes you do repeat Thank you
Hello Afaf! Thank you for your suggestion. Ill keep that in mind! For the videos that are already done.. perhaps go to settings and slow down the speed. But Ill definitely keep that in mind! Thanks again... Best wishes!!!

I really enjoy the segments using new signs in context, in conversation. Would you consider pets and pet care as a topic for a video? Thanks for this!
