I've seen so many guys say "I could never play bass. You need huge, strong hands." Then here comes tiny CiCi The Hammer, just making it look easy. As a guitarist, I never thought I'd like to watch bass videos, but I watch every one of these. Keep them coming!
To be fair, the nut width on that Ibanez range is very small and the necks are razor thin. It's literally like a child's toy bass neck, but she seems to get around okay on other basses all the same.
right, so what you're saying is that they THINK they need strength, and YOU didn't correct them or help them. Really you should work on your story telling so you don't come off as a jerk and a white knight for Cici...
@@matthouston8411 White-knighting for her would be if they said "girls can't play bass" or "Cici can't play bass." It's the opposite; they say *they* can't play bass. Hard to correct them or help them when I don't know them; I've just seen it around the internet. Lighten up.
I have one somewhere that I didn't include when I sold my Jazzmaster. After this I'm going to try it out when my Katana 110 arrives on Friday :-) with my 76' Ibanez thudder.
When it came down to the part where Cici chose pedals, I decided to make my own choice, including reasons, before I heard hers. Every time my choices and reasons were the same as Cici's. Feeling like a real bass player right now. 😃💪🎸
Excellent tones and, from a selfish perspective, useful data to see reverb pedals tested on bass. Still amazes me that Rats are so reasonably priced, sometimes cheaper than the things which try to copy them.
Just my opinion I think lb for lb Ibanez makes the most versatile (and delightful) sounding basses. You can almost dial them in to sound like anything.
This was an extremely helpful video, I enjoyed the stacking of the pedals to achieve those incredible sounds. And in a reasonable price range. Everyone involved did a really nice job! Thank you Cici!
I had no idea there was a bass Katana. I have the Mk 2 guitar head and absolutely love it. Def going to pick up the bass rig as well. I personally play the SR500's but you cant go wrong with the SR300 for the money. Excellent rig choices.
I gigged an SR300 many times when I first started off. Then I got a super worn out SR885. The first fret was GONE on that thing, so back to the SR300... lol.
I'd love to see a video where for example a person want 2, 2 x 10 cabs and 800-1000 watts . Or 2, 4 x 10 cabs and 1000-1600 watts. That's a video I'd like to see explored.
I need a bass in my life. Im pretty happy with the pedals and guitars i have, and have played bass years ago, apparently was a natural player, not my words but gave me confidence. Just a shame i didnt carry on with bass or guitar until into my 50s. But cant live with regrete, just keep moving Forward. Great video, really nice sounds from all of them tbh. Apart from two that didnt go well together, the distortion and reverb, unfortunately writing this ive already forgot the names lol. My memory is bad lol.
Hey Cici. You mentioned before that you see sound as colours too. Does that mean that stagelight could mess up your "Feel"? Can a mirrorball destroy your tone because you cannot see the colours? Or do your ears overpower vision(s)? Do you set tone by ear or by vision? Or both? And what does a wah do to the colours? Is that like a liquid light show from the 60's? ......So many questions.
I bought a Tone City Matcha Cream, largely off the back of this video. You do lose some bass if you turn the tone control up a lot, but if you don't, it's very nice indeed. Overdrive next.
CiCis great! nice to see a female bassist. only other i can think off the top of my head is the bassist Alice Cooper used on tour in the 2010s. pretty sure Lee interviewed her. shame i can't remember her name!
This is great but I must say that, for such a large music store, I find the bass department at Anderson's a bit disappointing as the room is too small.
In my experience, the Katana 110 can get louder and cleaner than the Fender Rumble 100, even though it has less watts than the rumble (and a smaller speaker). And the Rumble 100 is definitely gigable. People who say you need a 500w 4x10 to gig are either playing really loud metal or they've lost some hearing. That being said, you'll definitely be pushing the Rumble 100 if you're playing with a loud drummer. Perfect size for small rooms and jazz or acoustic gigs.
When I was 12 my parents took me to a music store because I really wanted to play bass, the shop instructor told me I should kearn guitar first to learn scales and theory first, I'm now 64 and still play guitar🤭
More CiCi. Entertaining, knowledgable , and an excellent player.
I don’t even play bass but cici is brilliant on these videos. Maybe it’s time to ad a bass to my guitar collection.

@@blackie75 Yeah, we've seen her play all sorts of basses in these recent videos. She's perfectly capable on all of them, it would seem.

"This Is The Ratt"
"That Ate The Malt"
"That Lay In The House"
"That Jack Built."
CiCi Rocks!!! ❤
I loved getting to do this!! :)
the smile when you kicked in the rat :)
That Tone City Matcha Cream sounded IMMENSE with bass!
I have one somewhere that I didn't include when I sold my Jazzmaster. After this I'm going to try it out when my Katana 110 arrives on Friday :-) with my 76' Ibanez thudder.
Heck, that little rig sounds huge.
She knows what she's talking about and is very well-spoken. I like how enthusiastic she is about playing

Awesome!! :)
@@CiciVonStrangelove I'm really impressed with the Tone City pedals. They don't look like much, but have an amazing sound.

The new "fat" Rat is 260 quid! I mean, it's a good pedal, but not _that_ good. Especially when an op-amp Big Muff is less than a ton!
I miss Nathan, but this bass duo is my new fav on YT!

"Swiss Army Knife" is a good analogy for something that does everything :)
This is exactly the type of demo I prefer. Thank you for this.
CiCi makes me want to dye my hair and learn bass.
do it then
Do it!!!
Hope you did it.
Love the Wah!

Hurrah! BASSES!!!
Wow, the Rat is great. Also, I hope we can see Cici, Lee *and* Nathan together at some point; that would be cool.
Rig under a grand has been one of my favourite series.
Love the licks at the end.

Fantastic sound for under £1000, amazing. Those katana's look tasty.
I absolutely love watching these 2.... I don't even play bass😅
CiCi our Sky Surfer
Phenom‘ Bassist
🔹✳️🎶💠🎵🎸🌌
cici is such a great musician
Isn't it a bit suspicious with all the crashes JUST in the front of Anderton's?🧐
Rigspiracy theory...
Lee dancing in the back...😂
🤫
Just gets to the point does our CiCi. Not a bass player myself but do appreciate that this sounds epic.. 🤘🏼
Great video. Bonus hearing Are You Alright 🙂
Cool. I got an Ibanez SR300EB in candy apple red
was that "Are you Alright" at 10:27 cici?
Nice, I'm a big fan of the gritty, growling, make your teeth vibrate sound. Good picks Cici, you are ready for the gig 😄🤘

I have a Skysurfer. I think its great.
I would choose schecter session model t 5 string bass and boss katanna bass amp
Awesome. Cheers!
Great video Ci Ci, some great sounds and ideas thank you 🤘😊
MASSIVE sound! Nice picks, Cici! 😊
Conveniently the outro also doubles as the "sound like Cliff Burton without busting the bank" video 😄🤘
A most excellent video ci ci
Want to go for a beer or three with these guys, and talk bass shit for hours and hours. Great vid, cheers!
CiCis great! nice to see a female bassist. only other i can think off the top of my head is the bassist Alice Cooper used on tour in the 2010s. pretty sure Lee interviewed her. shame i can't remember her name!
Just putting an idea out for the peoples, could you do sound like Motorhead on a budget?
cool video, Cici has a great video personality.
Hof 2 mini has mesh and toneprint enabled, so it is more versatile than the Skysurfer.
I follow Cici on her UA-cam page and recommended anyone who plays bass to give her a follow.
This is great but I must say that, for such a large music store, I find the bass department at Anderson's a bit disappointing as the room is too small.
The best Rat is always a regular RAT II, bought new. Don't let the Rat snobs and budget gurus fool you.
Cici your so cool! I wish we could jam together one day!!
Shock and amaze. Boss Katana.
I remember the "sounds like" guys even saying once that they really need to pick a non-katana amp every now and then
Didn't know there was effect for bass
Hmm, Katana 110 as a gigable combo? For what kind of gigs? Relying on the DI out?
Would be interesting to have some kind of 'real world' tests on it.
In my experience, the Katana 110 can get louder and cleaner than the Fender Rumble 100, even though it has less watts than the rumble (and a smaller speaker). And the Rumble 100 is definitely gigable.

So Cici settled on gear - then the video ended a few seconds later - why not a few _minutes_ at the end of her demoing what she had picked? 🤔
Every year is the year of the Rat
...no Sub + Up-type pedal? ...interesting
When I was 12 my parents took me to a music store because I really wanted to play bass, the shop instructor told me I should kearn guitar first to learn scales and theory first, I'm now 64 and still play guitar🤭
The question is, "How much more cute could Cici be, and of course the answer is, none more cute" 😎
HoF 2 got robbed. Tone Print is awesome. Could have loaded a preset on it.
Lee sitting without a bass in his hands just seems wrong.
Your house flooded, your gear is soaked, you need new gear for £1k ...
Too soon?? ❤
Not too soon… perfect 😂 Thankfully in reality I don’t need any because I managed to save it all :) 💜
WHat did this guy say? A hof hour 🤔 WTF is a hof hour🤷🏻♂️😝
The HoF barely got 2 minutes...
Honestly I just don't dig the sound gears. Aesthetically they don't speak to me at all.
She can’t possibly weigh more than 7.134 Stone. Of course her rig should cost < a thousand pounds.
Hard disagree. She should be given a budget 8 times as big.
Drop CICI already jesus. We want the Captain and Pete over Cici and Dave etc especially for Sounds like videos.
OK GUYS THE BIG ONE, GO GETUM CC.
CHEERS GUYS AND GALS M.
