I was never a collector of beanie babies, but my sisters and I had a good number of them growing up. Apparently, it all started when my grandma saw a little display in the grocery store with these cute little toys that were sitting up, perfectly. Now, according to my grandma, when I was a toddler I liked to play "tea party" with my stuffed animals, and I would get myself all worked up when the stuffed bears would refuse to sit up. Well, my grandma picked up one of these beanie babies and plopped it back down on the display. It sat up. She picked it up again, and tossed it down with the care of a toddler. The toy bear stayed upright. She ended up buying the beanie baby for a fussy toddler. We ended up with so many beanie babies just because my siblings and I liked playing with them so much.
I will never in my life get over the fact that one of the original beanies was just named 'Legs'
