🔧 HOGWARTS Legacy: Dramatically increase performance / FPS with any setup! *BEST SETTINGS* ANY PC ✅

The biggest gain I got on my RTX 3080 was from reducing the viewing distance setting from Ultra to High or Medium. In Hogsmeade the framerate was around 40fps at Ultra but went up to 55fps at High. None of the other settings made much difference. The engine does not appear to be using an occlusion culling technology so everything in the distance is rendered even if obscured by buildings thus impacting performance alot.

I can guess occlusion culling is working even in Hogwarts in out of view (outside of the screen to the right, left, above or below). right? like in any game.
perhaps keeping some objects when they are out of view to cast their shadows, and AI for their involvement, obviously.

You shouldn't state theories as if they are facts. I have no issue with viewing distance. 120+fps out in the world, no problem. My ONLY issue with this game is fps dips and micro stutter in Hogsmeade and Hogwarts. This video fixed that. Too many variables today but it was either, or some combo of: 1) new Nvidia driver today, 2) ini tweaks suggested by video OP or 3) setting shader cache to 10gb.

For PC, I didn't have significant improvement until I got the Ascendio mod off nexus. It really did help with the fps stuttering, with a few more nvidia control panel tweaks.

I can second that. The tweaks in this video did a pretty good job, but then I installed Ascendio and it was suddenly smooth as butter. I went with just the basic recommended installation in case anyone is wondering. I also did a few other things prior, but the biggest difference seemed to be the mod although without testing it may well be a combination of the tweaks suggested here, plus the ones on the mod page and the mod itself. There are some conflicting instructions, for example the mod author recommends vsync fast via control panel, but I have a freesync monitor so I turned all vsync off. I would say try stuff out while in hogsmead, running tests in between every few changes and just keep track of what you did in case you need to undo it.
Happy the game actually runs smooth now. Be warned the mod will introduce super low res textures when you first enter an area, but they pop in after a few seconds and honestly that is far less distracting for me than the constant stutters I was getting before. As always with mods and tweaks, you are taking responsibility for potentially messing stuff up so don't get mad at me or the mod author if it borks your game. Just keep track of what you are doing and make sure you know how to undo any changes if you need to and you should be fine.

I'm looking for a fix to the micro stutter w/ small fps dips in Hogsmeade, I don't even need improvement to my actual frame rate, and I seriously doubt that will work. He even says it "migt work on a 3070 and not work on a 3080" like wtf is that crap. Placebo nonsense. And he tells you to force 8x AF lmao, and fast Vsync ( I use Gsync so no I don't think I will...) no thanks, pass on that thanks though.

For ryzen use ryzen controller.. it automatically undervolts and you can lock cpu wattage to reduce temps while still getting great performance and little to no fps loss

Unless your hardware is low end, this won't do much aside from ruin the image quality in that regard. The real problem this game has is 1% lows and micro stutter w/ fps dips in Hogsmeade and Hogwarts.

@@insertnamehere4419 nothing does much in this game. On a 3060ti at 1080p there is little to no difference between the high and mid preset, and varying results with DLSS and the other options. At most you can get an extra 5 fps average in hogsmead, but its going to drop 10 frames anyway.

They still need to fix the game, sometimes my 3060ti goes to 100% usage and power usage drops quite a lot(that's when it starts stuttering and keeping the fps very low than usual) and most of the time when it runs normally gpu usage is like 75-90% and power usage is somewhere around 175-185W + and no, it's not because of bottleneck, in other games that are properly optimized the gpu does stay at 100% with full power usage like it's supposed to

Exactly the same for me. Once the FPS tanks, my GPU goes to 100% and power draw goes all the way down like yours. I'm afraid that only happens if you're enhancing an image that isn't to be enhanced any further based off the artist's intentions. An image that can look better SHOULD look better if it's capable of doing so. Don't know what this "low-end graphics cope" you're having is, but it's misguided and straight up wrong unless in a very specific scenario, such as softer imagery being part of a style or for another purpose.

You may shave off a few fps but won’t take away from the fact the game isn’t optimized and/or the pc hardware may need to be upgraded because of bottlenecking. These huge games are mostly made for standard consoles and pcs where you might as well turn all of the settings off and overclock everything. If 40 series cards are having problems playing a game smoothly, tutorials like this rarely “dramatically” change performance.

I STRONGLY prefer having the upscale sharpness turned up to at least 2 myself because otherwise it makes everything look like you are actually on those lower resolutions due to DLSS.
It varies per setup and what resolution you are running and of course personal preference- but I really think folks should try it turned up to at least 2 and then off and see how they feel first. Some may be prefer it turned off but I suggest checking first and not just going with assuming you want the same thing.
You are not missing much with ray tracing off either, this guy is on point with everything else here imo. Reflections RT is decent but you can live with out it, and the other RT options make the game look arguably worse in some ways.

Lenovo Legion 5 3050ti 4GB 95w laptop i5 11400h 16GB here, with performance mode(legion 5) without overclocking, I am playing this game at 4k/40fps average at high settings(everything high) with DLSS Quality enabled on my 49'' 4k TV and man, so smooth even 40fps outside, 45-50fps indoor, overclocking the gpu in bios adds 6-8 more fps but I don't overclock it, I can even get 55fps average by choosing DLSS Auto but I prefer DLSS quality, 40fps average is fine for single player especially it's super smooth, no lagging. Haven't undervolted it either and the quality is dazzling. Love this game, it's been 5 hours I'm playing. no fps drop never less than 35fps even in most intensive areas, no lagging so far, temp of cpu and gpu is 68c average, love this game. Revelio!

Thanks man, that fixed my game completely on 4070ti. But dont set shader cache to no limit, 5gb is enough. Otherwise shaders will consume all your vram and the game eventually crash, and wont start again until you change it and reset PC.

And i highly doubt its worth going 4k when using such a heavy dlss setting, i mean that's an upscaling of upwards of 5 times. Ascendio mod works well for me. I also followed this video but I tried it after the changes here and after installing the mod. I would say before any tweaks, the game was stuttering every 2 seconds while panning the camera or even more frequent, after the video tweaks that was improved by about 75% but with the mod as well it is now 100% smooth.

1, field of view gotta be +15.0 or 20.0 , film grain adds sharpness to an image making it look real as possible best in cutscenes, and also u should turn sharpnes 0.25 if ur upscaling imagine, because image on 640 x resoulution does not look good , and another ray tracing should be off completely if u dont have 10 gigs GPU

I did a custom medium-high graphics setting.. my fps keeps dropping somethimes even though my rtx 2060 is not at 100% (at closed rooms its 50-60%, and on open outside its 70-85%), although my fps keeps at vsync 75fps all the time (besides the sttuters)

Yeah my issue was that it used GPU instead of CPU, which my PC cannot handle. I built my PC to have an absurd amount of CPU, allowing it to maximize other tasks while preforming very well in games. Because this was a higher end game that took GPU, I couldn't go 10 seconds without insane FPS drops, lag, stuttering, and other issues that made the game unplayable. After trying fixes for around an hour and thirty minutes I uninstalled the game and got a steam refund. Still angry how I wasn't able to play the game simply because I got it on PC.

I don't know whether it's my CPU that's Bottlenecking my system (i7-4790k) But I'm getting abysmal performance no matter what. I've tried Running the Game at all Medium Settings/ Vsync : on & off, Playing at 1080p, I've tried all Nvidia DLSS Options, "Engine ini Tweaks" Everything, and my FPS doesn't shift in the slightest.
I assume my CPU is getting on now But I'm pairing it with an RTX 2070 Super which still stands its ground and I don't experience these performance issues on just about any other game, so I'm stumped really.
Does anyone else have an i7-4790k in their system that's experiencing similar issues? or perhaps know why my Performance is so terrible?

Gsync turns off when you hit max frames. -3hz make it so you never hit max fps.

It's the proper way to set up Gsync. Vsync on in control panel for Gsync / Vsync relationship reasons, -3fps cap so you never hit refresh rate limit, Vsync OFF in game.

Used the guide but have a pretty strange issue...
Very steady 44fps in the garden just outside Hogwarts, NO MATTER THE SETTINGS; Ultra/low settings, RTX max/off, DLSS "Quality" does something, but the exact same as lower settings and the other upscaling techniques. Only change is GPU load and VRAM usage (6000-9300MB). Can't see any core at 100% plenty unused RAM

If you still need to purchase the mb, go for the 13th gen. Cause you could get a B660 or H610 motherboard pretty cheaply and go for the i3. And then in a couple years you could still get yourself a used 13600k or so if you need the extra in the future. I would only choose the 11400f if you still have a compatable motherboard.

It's the proper way to set up Gsync. Vsync on in control panel for Gsync / Vsync relationship reasons, -3fps cap so you never hit refresh rate limit and hence never go over Gsync range and trigger vsync, Vsync OFF in game.

i7 processor, 32gb Corsair Vengeance, RTX 3060 Ti OC and I *still* struggle to run this game at 1080p high. It's like the new Crysis. You need a quantum computer.

@@avengederz I have a lot of lag down to the 20s on high. Which is silly because I get 60fps consistently at medium with 50s in Hogsmeade. Why should there be an 80% drop in fps from high to medium? It's like the devs didn't bother to create the game with anything less than an RTX 40 series in mind. I can play RDR2 on Ultra but not Hogwarts Legacy on high? Nah, this is the devs fault. They need to patch this game.
