Super tutorial. I am a hobby photographer and like mostly sportsphotography, especially with "panning". Most important : practice, practice, practice !
What I love about the panning shot is you don't need a low aperture i.e expensive lens to do it. It's all about the timing of the shot. Dialing in that shutter speed to suit. You will take 100's of shot's to get a couple of bangers!
Super informative, hands-on and fun to listen to. Well done! Thank you.
Thank you for sharing the tips! I love the coverage of the Tour!
You bet Brad, thanks for watching!
Awesome tutorial man! You showed me this in Colorado last year. Great work brotha!
Muchos gracias me amigo! Tuesday's video is gonna be a step up. 😁
Great easy to understand instructions. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks for the kind words John, I appreciate it! Glad the video helped. :)
As a photographer this is great
Thanks for the video!
I am a photography major and we have a shutter speed assignment where we experiment with different speeds and I thought photographing bikes while panning would be cool, so I hoped on UA-cam! 😂
You're welcome, I hope it helped!
Got a few good ones out of that! Great job.
Thanks man! 😀🙏
Great stuff...after I watched this, I went down to the riverside walks and burned up my batteries taking panning shots using trial and error...This was great...took a bit but I got some GREAT bike shots. I'm still working with them in post but that was fun.....Thanks Buddy!!
That's awesome! 🚴😁
Thanks for helping me lift my panning game.
You're welcome, glad I could help!
GREAT INFORMATION. I really enjoyed this.
Many thanks! 😀🙏
Awesome stuff mate .... quick question do you have a tip for photos organizing software to sort out racers pictures by bib number? That would be a huge help. Thanks mate
I don't know anything that can sort that stuff out for you unfortunately.
Excellent. Thanks.
You bet man, glad it helped!
Amazinggggg tutorial !!!!
Thank you so much, I'm glad it helped! 😃🙏
Great tips and thanks for sharing...I'm just starting out and I'm interested in taking photos at my local hobby shop of RC cars. Some of the tracks are outside with great lighting but when inside not so much. On the F stops are you always up over f10 + and do you ever shoot fast moving objects at f2.8? Thanks for your time
You can definitely shoot action wide open, especially for faster shutter speeds. 😁
👌👍
New Delhi, India.
Best youtuber ever and best shoots .I am bigest fan
Thank you. 😁
Great video but why not just use shutter priority?
I certainly do, sometimes. It's definitely the best mode for really fast changing conditions.
Great stuff dude
Many thanks! 😀🙏
Hi Brent, Just came across your video. Thanks for the great tips. Can you just confirm exactly what focus points you are using for this fast action photography? I am struggling to nail the focus. Also, do you ever shoot these fast bike stills at 2.8f or are you always up in the 13f area with that amount of light? Cheers Bryan
I think I used the center af point for that, it's what I'm usually set at, but I sometimes do use the center 9 points. For shots like this, I shoot at whatever aperture I need for the light in the scene, so if it's darker, or I need a faster shutter speed, then I'll open the aperture up.
What camera u use ?
great video, helped me a lot! subscribed for more
Hey thanks Nathan, I really appreciate that, and I'm glad I could help!
Hi Sir, are you on shutter priority? 😁 Thansk for sharing by the way. 🙏🏼
For sports and wildlife I usually shoot in manual or shutter priority. Either should be sufficient.
Brent Hall Thank you Sir.
@@josephmesina5353 You bet man, good luck with it!
I have nikon d5600 what is sitting to use panning photography Plz help ??
Nice
Many thanks!
Is it better to set it on Tv priority to save time adjusting the ISO and aperture?
It can be. I certainly use shutter priority quite a bit for action and wildlife. Just depends on what you're comfortable with and how much control you want over all the settings.
When you are shooting at f11 - f22, why don't you use manual focus? I use this method every time with small apertures. Less for you to think about and the camera to mess-up
lens 70- 200mm ?
Nice video but how can we control motion blur in latest smart phones like S10 or Huawei P30 pro
Same principles, but you will probably need an nd filter to help slow the shutter speed down since you can't control the aperture. So just put a filter on, open up pro mode or manual mode or whatever it's called in that phone, and start adjusting the shutter speed and pan with your subjects.
@@BrentHall how to use filters on smart phones
You can get some that attach to a clip that clip over the lens, or you can just hold a filter over the lens with your hand, or you can get a moment lens and their filter adapter ( that's the most expensive option though).
I have videos about both ways.

wow you have a lot of lens
Hello Sir Brent,
I am using Nikon d7200 and a 50mm f1.8 lens. Is it okay if I set it like iso 100 and 1/250 and f13? and also, is it necessary to put your camera into sport mode?
Those settings are completely dependent on the situation and the light, and no, it's not necessary to shoot in sport mode.
@@BrentHall thank you sir and looking forward on your video tutorial.. take care and God bless
may i know the best shutter speed for iso100?
can you take a Action picture with a smartphone samsung galaxy s10 plus or s10e
Yes you can. Same principles, but you'll probably need an nd filter to help slow the shutter speed down since you can't control the aperture.
@@BrentHall thank you for help thank you
Sure thing man.
GOHAWKS!!!!!!!
I Think you shouldn't be so close, just to prevent accidents to the bikers!!! they have enough danger with the speed they go???, besides that great info!!!
MAJOR HELP BRO….
Thanks man, I'm glad it helped!
