@@shaikhaali7447 well, as long as we are aware we will never not have the urge to procrastinate - but we will learn to recognise it and nip it in the bud
I feel matt has started having fun shooting these videos. Quality, content and humour keeps increasing in every video recently. Good for you Matt. Big Fan.
What helped me reduce my procrastination was understanding that motivation often comes after we get started with an activity, and not before. Example: It’s hard to start reading a book, but once you finish the first page the motivation often kicks in.
I have sometimes the problem that I know, why I procrastinate or why I did that thing wrong, but I still do it, probably because it is easier than to really go get things done and do the thing you wanted. When I wasted enough of my time I sometimes can catch myself and just do it. Thank you Matt for your videos, they are of an awesome quality, I really appreciate it that you are willing to put the effort in that and not slack of even if you have a solid fan base.
I was literally procrastinating the last couple of weeks about making a dr and dentist appointment, this week I did both! Then as soon as I got off the phone with the dr office, this video was posted. I found it funny. I have this mantra of getting it to 80, once a project is 80 percent done, I know from that point It will need to be worked on less and less. I’ll still work on it to make it better but if the due date comes for that project I know I’ll be okay to let it go at whatever level it’s at. Thanks for a great video Matt!
It's a good reminder that self compassion is what we really need the most to break out of a bad habit sometimes. Don't fight the love, go with the flow i guess?

You can't imagine how useful I find this video! Eye-opener for me! They all apply to me even though I can't say that I procrastinate a lot as I push myself forward as much as I can! xx
Matt, thank you so much. I'm crying right now, because the "forgive yourself" thing just hit me like a bus. I am working so hard at my first job after struggling in university for 10 years and barely not finishing and graduating. I am still exhausted from that journey and now I am working even harder to keep up with everyone and everything. But this video helped a lot. I experience a lot of guilt when I procrastinate - even though I now that I need some free time in between all of this work. But I always felt ashamed of that. I will be looking at it closer now. I think I will watch this several times, it will be a guide though what lies ahead. Thank you.
thank you. as someone who procrastinates for literally all of these reasons this video caught my attention. i'm a long time fan of your work and decided to take serious notes from this video. procrastination/avoidance behaviors have taken a major toll on my life and that has made me feel dull and exhausted. it really is EXHAUSTING to avoid things. but change takes time and like you said, we need to forgive ourselves. you truly make an impact matt.
This video was exactly what I didn’t know I needed. Helped me view some things anew and push thru my adhd to watch it without stopping to check something else.

I love how you included #5, I used to think that I was just starting to become lazy after pushing myself super hard for 5 years straight. But breaks are important to productivity too
I just wanna thank God. crazy how you can be down and have too much pride to ask for help but then when you finally do, it comes (This video). Yesterday, I finally cleaned up my email. 10k unread ranging as far back as EIGHT YEARS. It made me stop and think to myself, "why didnt I do this before...so it's not the tasks at hand, but me." I have been this way my whole life. And focusing on the wrong "why" is why I'm in this cycle. All in all, thank for you for delving into this subject, right on freaking time.
You are right. Using colorful notes or pretty environment doesn't matter sometimes, you need to know why and what kind of emotional state you are in when procrastinating.
I wrote the second draft of a novel in 2020. Over the course of only seven months! I'm yet to start revising it but while watching this video an idea came to me on how to improve this important first page / chapter.

You have helped me so much you truly do not know how much this has and will benefit me.I’ve learned so much and am in a better situation thanks to you.Thank you.
This video perfectly sums up why we procrastinate. I feel the main takeaway is to find a balance between procrastination and burnout. Take a break when necessary and don't overwork oneself.
There are so many videos like this on UA-cam but this one seems to hit the nail on the head to the point where I'll watch it again to actively take notes. I'm pretty sure I'm experiencing all of the reasons you mentioned
This is so nicely summed up , i have read multiple books and articles to resolve my chronic procrastination and you just explained in some minutes. This is AMAZING
I am reading 'The mountain is you' by Brianna Wiest about self-sabotage. Crying at almost every page but also building up hope and relief. So, highly recommended!
This is really great. Even when we know some of these things, seeing someone talk openly about it in the way you did here really helps. The comment, "stop thinking so much about yourself" hit different lol.
