You may be a dog person - or you may be a cat person. You might also be an animal lover who has both a cat and a dog.
But whether you are around cats or dogs, you will notice that the way a dog owner sees their life is completely different from the way a cat owner sees theirs.
Let’s start with the dinner time. While a dog may wolf down any kind of dog food you bring them, a cat will not. You can try to buy your cat every flavor of wet or dry food, but once they are tired of eating it, they will simply walk away. And they won’t tell you why.
Most likely, in the morning, your cat will have crawled into bed with you to snuggle under the covers - or sleep on top of your head.
Cats do this because they crave heat. And since you lose most of your body heat through the top of your head, don’t be surprised if your cat curls up there to absorb that extra warmth!
On the other hand, your dog will probably sleep at the foot of your bed. But in the morning, they will want to go for a walk.
There’s a big difference between washing cats and washing dogs.
Although it may be hard to believe, cats clean themselves quite efficiently. The surface of their tongue has tiny spines, called papillae, which act as a natural brush that removes extra fur, oils, and debris. This is why they sometimes cough up hairballs.
Cats rarely need to be washed, but dogs are a different story. While they may lick themselves sometimes, they can’t wash on their own. You can do it yourself, but it’s much better to take your dogs to a pet groomer to have their claws clipped and their fur washed. If you do try to do it yourself, make sure to use dog shampoo and lukewarm water.
As well, dogs should be toweled off well and kept inside until they are dry. if dogs get too wet, they will shake off the extra water as an instinct to dry themselves faster.
Dogs and cats will also try to please you in the best way they know. A cat will try to impress you by killing a real mouse and bringing it to you as gift. At the same time, a dog will dig holes in the yard to bury bones for future nourishment. They will also chase squirrels away to protect your property.
Now let’s talk about how your pets spend the day when you are at work.
Cats spend about 75% of their time sleeping during the day. On the other hand, you may find that your dog has chewed up a pair of shoes. They do it because your shoes have your scent on them. Your dog chews on your shoes because it not only relieves their stress but also releases endorphins that make them feel better when you aren’t at home. They may also tear up furtitures.
And keep in mind, your dogs and cats don’t know when you are coming home. So they can become anxiety-ridden just like anyone else.
It’s the same reason a cat purrs when they jump up on your lap. Or on your laptop. So while a dog is a little more respectful of your space when you are working at home, a cat might just jump up and sit on your laptop to get your attention. That is - when they feel like it.
Now let’s talk about how dogs and cats greet you when you come home.
While both pets have a sensitive sense of hearing and a profound sense of smell, cats and dogs are very different creatures. So while a dog will jump up to greet you because they are glad to see you at home, a cat is a little bit more standoffish. They’ll greet you or any of your guests when they get in the right mood.
Speaking of the weekend, this is also playtime for cats and dogs. And while you can take your dog outside to chase a ball, your cat may play on its own. You can even buy a cat an expensive toy, but cats are more likely to play with a small stuffed mouse - or a paper bag that is left on the floor.
Dogs are naturally outside animals. They love to be out playing and walking. This is why dog parks were invented.
Cats? Not so much. They like to be indoors and watch the world from a window view.
Get a leash for a dog so they can enjoy the great outdoors. And if you have a cat, install a window ledge. This will let them bask in the sun while they enjoy the view.
Cats and dogs both shed a healthy amount of hair, but they take care of it differently. While a cat will ingest a fair amount of their hair when they groom, a dog just sheds. So be prepared for a cat to cough up the occasional hairball. It’s perfectly natural.
However, it is wise to invest in a pet-friendly hairbrush. Both cats and dogs hate the sound of the vacuum, but if you brush them once a week, you will have much less hair on your couch and carpets.
While a dog is very trainable, a cat does not obey commands so easily. Dogs are constantly fed treats to obey commands. You can convince your dog to do almost anything with some food.
Cats, on the other hand, are thankful for the treats, but they are much more likely to purr and rub up against your leg than they are to follow your instructions afterward.

Pets are adorable and yea both are very different by nature. It's like day and night. Both are adorable and show affection in their own way.
Only difference is cat love personal space, they come to you when they want or misses you whereas dog, they just seek your attention 😉. Dogs are loyal and you can see it from their actions. It's good to have both n i love both equally. Just make sure don't leave your pet or dump them like some toy, it's a lifetime commitment

After I adopted a dog, now I know I’d be more comfortable with a cat. My dog plays way too much , not obedient and too friendly to strangers.
And my cat always welcome me home after office. Now I lost her and can’t find her anywhere. So sad...

If you want a good obedient dog that’s protective or mean to strangers, the German shepherd, Rottweiler, or Doberman are all amazing choices. You need to do research on dog breeds before you get one, there are tons of breeds and there is certainly one waiting for you to adopt it. You cant just get a breed and not know it’s traits, then tell people how horrible it’s traits are for not having the ones you want, and proceed to give it away. There’s a dog breed for everyone out there, you just gotta look and do some research. And it’s ok if your just not into dogs! Cats are amazing as well!

I’m more of a dog person, and I love cats, I wish I weren’t allergic to them lol. But yeah dogs are great to!
Mostly accurate, though I have a few things to add. Cats mostly play at night, somewhere around 11:00 pm-12:00 am. This might get a little annoying, as more playful cats will try to wake you up to play. If you don’t want to be woken up at 1 in the morning, you should get a more peaceful and chill cat. Cats also enjoy being outside too, my outdoor cats don’t play with toys since they get most of their entertainment from playing outside. If you’re gonna let your cat outside, please don’t trim their claws, they won’t have a way to defend themselves. Indoor cats need more toys to play with, or more places to explore/hide. Cats are curious animals and prefer their life being an adventure.
The dog information is good, but a side note: keep in mind that not all dogs are social. And please, train your dogs. Most dogs get rehoused because people get upset with them doing their business inside or chewing their stuff. And please, please, please remember: YOU ARE IN CHARGE. Show your dog that you’re the alpha, and act like wolves would. Show your dogs when you are unpleased with their behavior, and punish them to make them never do it again. This may sound harsh, and lot of people always say, “stop it, that’s mean and your hurting them,” but I’m really not. Show your dog who’s boss and maybe they’ll be able to live a happy life without ever getting rehomed. My dogs never jump on people, they always let us inside or outside first, they only get on furniture when they’re allowed (well one does), and most important they respect us. A dog who does the opposite of these things don’t respect you, they think THEY are in charge. And train your dog not to hurt chickens, it’ll help the chicken owners.
I agree with your dog facts! I always make sure to let them know that I am the alpha. I too agree with you on how it is annoying is when people say “don’t yell at my dog, that’s mean!” I’m not yelling at them, I’m being firm. My Dachshund listens to me for the most part. She’s a bit stubborn! Lol 😅 As you have mentioned, if you don’t train them, they’ll think they’re the boss. I want to own a Rottweiler and Pit Bull someday. Doing a lot of research on both breeds so that I can not only give them the best life possible, but I need to know how to train them as well since both breeds are a bit protective of their packs! Lol 😂

And never make you an Alpha to your dogs. I really hate that concept. Dogs naturally see you as an elder being than them (except some breeds). They respect you. Being an alpha to a dog is like the dog being a servant to you and they don't deserve that.

You can tell a lot about a person depending if they own cats or dogs because of the nature and relationship with said pet.
Cats are independent so the owners tend to be that way, Whereas dog owners usually have a tag along because dog owners have a dynamic with their pets that they are their owners 🤣
Another study showed dog owners tend to follow rules and cat owners are non conformist!
Cat owners love working alone and are usually anti social, dog owners love a social circle and love to be a in a team.
Lastly cat owners are more open minded, whereas dog owners are usually closed off to anything new.
Cats are cool, but I prefer dogs much more,p. I think that dogs imprint on humans a lot more than cats do, I think they share there love a lot more than cats do. All cats do is play hard to get. Like all the cats I’ve meant, flippin run away from me, like, I just want to say hi.

I’ve got 2 dogs, one big German shepherd, and a small Pomeranian. Some say it’s not a great fit, but I think it’s perfect, whenever my pom barkes or yips, my german shepherd will come running over, it’s almost like he’s saying “I’m here princess what do you need?”😂

Well, my dog also sometimes sleeping on my head or on my belly. She always goes under my blanket and she will wake me up by licking my hand or my cheek. Its the sweetest thing which makes my morning day brighter 🥰
Had dogs and cats for years, i must say whether you have a dog or a cat, bathing is a must for both animals, because nothing clean on their saliva. Both contained germs and don't forget on 2016 a scientific study mentioned that cat's saliva is the worst which could make your wound even red and swelling. Try to compare being bitten by cat and dog (with the same body weight), your wound which caused by dog's bite will healed only for days while cat's bite will forced you to go to hospital to get some antibiotics.

At sometime I had 5 cats and they loved to walk with me (but not on a leach). and together with two other cats from neighbours, that loved to walked with my cats and with me... When I turned my head to them... I saw all cattails rising up. These were my happiest moments. So yeay, 7 cats did walk with me, because they trusted me, to follow me to another side of the block.

Id leave a cat with a baby, but never a dog. A cat won't attack your baby, but there's many cases of baby maulings and even deaths from dog attacks.
