Arleesha, you have inspired me to try and ultimately fall in love with paint making. I have very bad anxiety and can only handle a part time job at the moment, but making my own paint and seeing the progress in doing so has given me hope for the future. This is something I can do at home, listening to audiobooks or podcast while I mull, without any feelings of anxiety whatsoever, and if I get efficient enough it could also bring me some extra income. But even if I don't sell it, just making the paint has given my worried soul some well needed peace. Really, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Much love.
@@EmiDucky Thank you! Sadly, I'm not. I had just quit my job to go study again when some other health issues popped out of nowhere so now I'm kind of stuck. But! I've kept making a lot of watercolour paint and I'm launching my own Etsy store in a month or so! It's a bright little light that's keeping me going through this. 😊
you could also sell them locally at some kind of market/fair/convention where artists can sell stuff. than you can sell both prints and paints and you don't have to go through all the packaging and stuff for international shipping.
I think this is, by far, my favorite piece that you've ever done! This is breath taking, and I've already ordered a print of it before I even finished the video. Looking at your videos, you can see the growth in your art, and how far you've come and it's utterly amazing to see how your art journey has progressed. Wishing you the best!
Absolutely beautiful piece; every stage of watching it come together was lovely and I love the end result. Also great to see another paint making video! I was really stressed today and this was a nice soothing way to wind down.
If you never sell your paints and just maybe give them away to friends or family that's totally fine. It's important as an artist to have things you do just for fun! I'm not a professional artist but I'm planning on someday selling my art, but I always make sure to not always be in the mindset of " I need to improve so I can sell things" I'll make silly characters and draw them in my sketchbook cause sometimes you need to have something you do just for yourself. (Also is it just me or does the man in the painting look kinda like young David Bowie)
It was from the few times I was able to watch a whole tutorial video because your voice is so relaxing and not annoying excited and loud like the most of the other videos. I really liked everything. Thank you for posting this.
That cycle of growing observation skills and growing application skills you're talking about reminded me of something my film professors talk about a lot: that as we learn more about our art form and our understanding of it expands, our taste in that form can sometimes outpace our ability to achieve results. So we want to see more sophisticated art than we are able to produce. And that can feel really discouraging when we're in that phase, but that disappointment in our own work can drive us to improve our skills, so we can achieve the next 'level' of production. I'm in the discouraging phase right now, too, but knowing that other artists - and, indeed, most other artists - have gone through it, too, means I'm able to keep going. For me, the best thing I could be asking about my work is, "What can I learn from this to apply to the next try?"
I just wanted you to know that I really appreciate your watercolor videos. I love your transparity and how much you love sharing what you learn. You have inspired me and I am very grateful.
I don’t normally comment, but you along with a few others got me back into art after years and years of “taking time off”. I love watching your paint making videos because it allows me to split up my binge watching of all the educational art videos and just sit back, relax and enjoy some soothing music with a very relaxing video to go along with it. Keep up what you are doing and I wish you the best!
I can't even tell you how much I enjoyed watching this! And please don't worry about the length of it, it was perfect. It really was like hanging out with you and you kept me company while I sketched so that was really nice. Loads of love and keep doing what you love! :)
I heard someone describe some form of media as a ‘resting place’ recently, and that is definitely what your channel is for me. I’ve had a really frustrating year art wise, and have had to relent to committing most of my time to a retail job that has nothing to do with the art career I want so I can have any sort of livable income. Now when I do sit down and draw it’s kind of just studies, and even when I do those I don’t feel great about them. Thanks for reminding me that this art cycle where you’re kind of dejected and disappointed in the art your making is natural, because it’s your taste developing- and that soon enough I’ll be at the top of that arc again, and be satisfied with what I’m making, because I’ll have improved. Crazy important thing to remember when you’re trying to make consistent art, and I needed the reminder. Sending the best vibes your way! Thanks as always for the time and effort you put in to these videos, loved the longer one
Just came across your videos because I wanted to start making my own watercolor paints and I'm hooked. I enjoy the way you explain your process and you have a soothing voice. Bless you honey and your journey!
I really enjoy watching your videos maam. I have been drawing again as I am an architecture who just came back from a slump. I just dont find it fun anymore but now I have been inspired and embracing art and mycreative side again. You make me want to explore art again. Thank you Maam.
The point you made about observational skills really hit it for me. I've been struggling with my painting alot lately and maybe there lies something in that. As you improve you also become better at spotting flaws. It's just incredibly frustrating and soul crushing when you can't seem to get it to work creatively. Because when you're an artist it's such a big part of you. And when that doesn't feel right nothing does. Anyways, great point! ❤
I would totally LOVE to see that video on paintmaking Q&A!!! Ever since I found your channel and paint making videos, I have become obsessed with trying it out but I have no idea where to start, and it all seems very expensive. A video to help with the basics would be awesome!! No pressure though, just wanted to let you know that if you want to make that video there are definitely people who would watch :D
I’m not yet into watercolor paints but I may someday as I think watercolors are great for wildlife and nature scenery. It was your creativity that inspired me not only mull paints on a glass slab but create pigment dispersions in a rock tumbler that I can use in acrylic, oils, alkyd, lacquers etc etx
You're videos really have a gentle feel to them. Sometimes I take videos to document my progress or to find out what the hell is my process. Im constant ly changing that pretty much change is my process.. so I'm thinking that when you describe' not being happy with your work' it reminds me of how I felt the other day where I was painting and I was not experiencing change- I could of thought of it as gaining some consistency, but the feel was that I was off.. I'm totally new to art, I can barely use the word art and the things I do in the same sentence. (I end up forming really awkward sentences like that). I started a month into the quarantines.. but I have been very much into the growth mindset in other areas of life and so art has been my latest journey and its been a real great testing ground. I pretty much go about looking to find in the experiences where and when those principles ive cultivated apply in, Artworld. I've come to learn Art is not just some luxury you get to when you've fulfilled other areas in life. I found out right away that art is just as important as learning how to think, it is essential to being human and is needed for development. I can't help but understand this better watching your process -- how you do videos and speak to the audience. I said it had a gentle feel.. at first because it s as in contrast to how my videos turn out- so all over the place and probably hard to follow. Im thinking now its that attention to process that you are displaying. And I'll just add one other point that is more concrete because I don't want to add to the bias that art is all airy fairy woo woo.. Perception. We tend to think we just see and we see things perfectly as is. We start with 20-20 vision and that slowly deteriotes as we age... This view is an error in thinking.. it lacks in perception, like depth. I have come to learn so many aspects of vision that ive really had to improve. I find that the 800+megapixel cameras still can't capture what our eyes can capture. I am barely getting the values and the temperatures in each color. Im just understanding the difference between Prussian blue and ultramarine blue. I have no clue what makes colors transparent and what's makes it opaque-- and perhaps you've given me a clue with the whole hand made paints vs industrial. And so when you struggled to describe your growing observation abilities outpacing your skills to apply it - i think its only because we as whole don't really have the terms or common language to describe those other dimensions in perception. You're describing things most people don't have a reference point to attach to it- and only because ive started developing my skills in Artworld, I feel now I can begin to understand or at least grasp those ideas. Keep up the awesome work. And please continue to show the unique experiences you find yourself drawn to.
Instant like from the protection protocols. Ever since I saw a video of yours where you made your favorite red color it had me fascinated with watercolor making. This video sorta pushed me forward to wanting to do it even more. The fact that you told more about the texture of the watercolor has me _fascinated_ And the progress of watercolor making looks and sounds relaxing. Repeated motions with slight change of phase by collecting it to the center and swatching. It sounds like a nice relaxing (slightly dangerous fumed) safe heaven away from all of the chaos of life.
Yes! More info on paint making would be amazing! I have so many questions but I'm not sure where to even find solid info from books or the internet. I've read articles and mostly your videos to teach myself but I'm still not sure about some things. I'm mostly working through figuring out my binder recipe, how much honey/glycerin, and figuring out when the paint is "ready" during mulling. Any info you have to offer is very welcome, so I look forward to more of your paint making videos ♥️🥰♥️
I found your channel through an associated artist and I subscribed because of your paint making videos, I find your voice soothing and relaxing and you’re knowledgeable about your craft. I hope you’re able to sell your handmade paints in the future when you feel you’re able to sell them. I would even appreciate you talking more during the video even if you are repeating yourself because most of us don’t get the information imprinted into our brains the first time around or even the second time around! I enjoyed watching your painting and I look forward to watching your next paint making video. Have a lovely day!
Idk how this is getting any thumbs down. at. all. If you came here to watch a painting video and got too impatient before already clicking that thumbs-down, shame on you. Fix it. If you are just arriving and are too impatient to watch through the gorgeous and soothing paint-making portion, jump to 12:25, and give this lovely lady a thumbs-up, would ya?
I just stumbled across your channel and this is the inspiration I've been looking for. I've always been scared of painting people rather than studies of plants and things. This makes me want to break out my watercolors and start painting. Thank you so much for this video!
It's always so relaxing to watch you make paints and paint with them. I just love how peaceful your videos are. Thank you for creating these videos! They inspire me to create and explore which is such a wonderful experience. Thank you again
I am in love with those pants!! ♡ And your watercolor test sketchbook :) I'm very interested in making my own paint in the future, so these videos are super informative. I think the oldest watercolors I have are a semi moist Prang set from the 7th grade! I'm 27 now so they're old and still fantastic.
Gorgeous. The way the paints move for you is just amazing, it's clear that you know what you're doing with them.❤ Watching your videos makes me want to get back into painting, I feel so inspired by them. I think a large part of that is just You in general, because you have such a kind personality in your videos that is warm and inviting. It makes me want to sit down and paint with you.🎨🖌
I love the process, is calming, satisfying and soothing! I read from several sources that by adding liquid or powder clover would prevent the watercolor from molding. Yay!
Tell me how, I watched this while having an art block, and ended up sitting throughout this entire video feeling more and more motivated to get up and make something????? Edit: this really is amazing and I’m star struck by how amazing this entire process is thank you for continuing to make these videos and give me motivation to continue doing better!
Beautiful process of paint making, can not be long enough. Yes! Your words make sense. Your painting is great. Your own process of growth and the vulnerability of sharing all you as an artist are struggling with are making the most sense. Things don't come easy. And if we don't hear this one from another we end up feeling alone. So thanks very much. So glad that this video, paintmaking, and piece of art makes gives you good vibes. As for the paints. I live in Belgium. Of course I would love to try some of it. But I totally understand how you don't want to go through the hustle of wrapping them, shipping etc. I'm sure you can find a good destination (I don't know if that's a good word for it - I guess what I write is full of wrong written sentences and words, but... pfff) for them. I truly enjoyed this video. (all your video's)
Thank you so much for making this video. The paint making part was cool, but I loved your reflective commentary while you painted so much. I've also been in a weird place of art limbo and dissatisfaction where nothing is..right or good enough. Thank you, keep creating.
Amazing work!!! Both paint and painting! Watching creating of paint was very relaxing and you style is very different from others which I know and it was really interesting to look at.
Am so inspired by your paint making! Would love to know more about it. Have ordered some supplies and am waiting for them to come. Will keep watching and learning what I can from you!!! Thank you so much!!!!
I randomly clicked on someone else’s channel who commented on a skincare video and I found this video on it, I love art and you’re so creative with how you make your own paints and organise them into pallets, also I love the book with the colours and annotations, I’m so glad I found your channel, it’s amazing and I subscribed :D
I like when you do something and talk in real-time, I always get inspired and learn something new even if not about techniques then about an attitude towards art in general. Thank you.
Watching this is super soothing. Can’t wait to see more paint making videos. I don’t know if I have just never seen it, but for me this concept is totally unique. Well done 🤗
Arleesha, this is beautiful-the artwork and the video! Thank you for always being so open with us. This piece is probably one of your best yet. Those cheeks and eyes; there’s so much depth and bravery for going dark in your values there. Seriously, love, love, love everything about this video and piece. I can hear in your voice that you’re finding yourself again and it makes me so happy. ❤️
No matter how many times I watch this, I love the design of this character in your painting! I always want to see you work more with this character, and always want to draw him too!
I’m so happy for you! That you enjoy this piece and the process of making watercolors ❤️ it’s always a treat, and these kinds of videos really do feel like we are hanging out ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Light gray carpet is an incredibly brave choice of flooring for a room filled with paints and inks and dirty water and brushes 😂 I would absolutely spill something on day 1 and live with permanent stains forever.
Thank you for making this video! These paint making video's are definetly my favorite. Your voice and the mulling of the paint are so calming. I'm also happy to hear you liked making this painting, I think it turned out beautifully.
Done lots of things in my life but never made paint before. It looks like such a calming practice and you get an awesome result. Thanks for posting, will check out your other paint making vids now. 👍🏻
I have seen where people package the pans in altoid cans and sold like that. You could do sets that you think are complimentary or just random or have the customer pick the colors for their pan. I would love to paint with your colors. I don’t paint for anyone but myself but I love to use things that people make over industrial companies.
For any (aspiring) artist ever feeling challenged ♥️♥️♥️ "...I was feeling stuck with art and kinda feeling I didnt know even how to make anything, which I know is silly cuz I have been doing this for a while, but i just felt my brain was sort of starting to see the mistakes better and i didnt know how to improve and how to make art that would satisfy my increased observational skills, which is kind of how art works. Its a fluctuation at being better of observing and then being better at actually applying that observation to painting. So its constant cycle, a constant process and this piece was a reminder to me that the growth will keep happening." :)🙏 Arleebean
unrelated to the paintmaking/painting: you look so cute n cozy in that beginning bit! we love a hoodie/loose pants combo. related to the paintmaking/painting: i love that you're feeling happy about this painting. i think all of the art you make is so gorgeous and inspiring and i love putting on your videos while i work on my own stuff because it makes me feel inspired! and i love love love the colours you chose for this painting i can't explain why i love them so much but it's like my whole brain lit up when i saw the colours you were picking! ilu 💖
New to making my own watercolor paint, and metallic watercolor. You sharing information about making watercolor paint and binder is so helpful. Thank you so much. Truly enjoy the process of making watercolors. I’m not trying to sell any. Just enjoying the process. Hoping my first homemade binder with gum, water and honey will work out well. You have a new subscriber. 😃👍
I feel that I have to comment here (although I usually stay out of UA-cam comments sections) because I suffer from depression and that depression has been giving me art block where I just can’t want to draw anything and I want to thank you because for the first time in weeks I have an almost clear image of something to draw and it feels like a huge weight has been lifted from me so just thank you😌
Hire me! 😆 I'll make paint all day! 😂 I may start experimenting with paintmaking myself. I come from a family of very hands on people (stonemasons etc) and I love doing things with my hands and crafting. And I want to say so far things have always turned out
I really find your videos amazing in every way dude. A bit too young to start this hobby yet (need three more years to do so) but I enjoy watching you. I like being creative, so watching these types of videos make me want to do things such as paint making. Also, your personality while doing this type of craft is very pleasing to me and most likely to others. Keep it up with this kind of work. Also, the type of painting style that you do looks very good (I don't know what kind of art style it is tho)
I love this piece! I totally get what you mean about how much effort it is to sell your paints and I'm glad you're deciding to hold onto them until you're ready. It makes them that much cooler and I'm so excited to get into paint making myself now!
you have definitely inspired me to try to make paint. I don't have the space or time at the moment but I have put on my list of things to try in the future.
These paints are gorgeous -- I love the idea of an artist making their own materials. It's awesome, and I love learning about the process myself. I'd really love to try these paints you made! Ultramarine Rose is a beautiful color in general. And yeah... I totally understand the chaos and hassle behind trying to package half pans -- I've helped a friend with her process before when she made a bunch of palettes for holiday gifts, rather than to sell. It does require a second set of hands to speed up the process. (That said, lol, I'd totally help if I could!)
i enjoy when you complete paintings that you're proud of. i get second hand happiness from that. keep on keepin' on. :)

Thank you, this is so kind! ♥♥
Am I the only one who wants to draw arleebean??? Like she is so beautiful and idk if this is weird or not.... ;^; and OMG THAT ART IS GORGEOUS
Yay!
Absolutely gorgeous. I’m so in awe of your work!
The part at around 5:00 where you filled the screen while mulling was beautiful and so satisfying! I didnt know i needed that until i saw it happen
As always, your art is so stunning! The whole atmosphere of this is super relaxing, and I would love to see this piece as a print
Thank you so much for making this video. The paint making part was cool, but I loved your reflective commentary while you painted so much. I've also been in a weird place of art limbo and dissatisfaction where nothing is..right or good enough. Thank you, keep creating.
I love when your videos are long because your voice calms me down soooo much!!!
woah I didn't know we could make water colours by hand, that's really cool
Amazing work!!! Both paint and painting! Watching creating of paint was very relaxing and you style is very different from others which I know and it was really interesting to look at.
I think this is my favourite portrait of yours of all time! Something in it really resonates and I just love the colours. Beautiful work.
Thank you.
Your paint making videos are always so calming for me, especially since your voice is so soothing!
Thank you for sharing your paint making journey. You inspire me to make my own paints! I look forward to more videos.
Love how the lips turned out in this piece
Watching this is super soothing. Can’t wait to see more paint making videos. I don’t know if I have just never seen it, but for me this concept is totally unique. Well done 🤗
this video was so incredibly soothing that I felt so cozy at the end like I took a nap, such a beautiful art piece as well!
For some reason, I find watching you making the paint is extremely relaxing.
Love these longer videos, it really does feel like I am sitting with you and enjoying a good convo with a cup of tea.
No matter how many times I watch this, I love the design of this character in your painting! I always want to see you work more with this character, and always want to draw him too!
This video is so wholesome and beautiful, my eyes literally teared up
I’m so happy for you!
Wow I'm in love with your creations 🤯❤
I opened this 15 minutes before the Premiere, was excited to watch it and then forgot until now. Yay for being scatterbrained!
Thank you for making this video! These paint making video's are definetly my favorite. Your voice and the mulling of the paint are so calming. I'm also happy to hear you liked making this painting, I think it turned out beautifully.
This was so helpful for me. Thank you for sharing. I’ve seen empty water color tubes online.
Beautiful meditative process
Done lots of things in my life but never made paint before. It looks like such a calming practice and you get an awesome result. Thanks for posting, will check out your other paint making vids now. 👍🏻
Really beautiful artwork! I love the way you use colors and leave part of the pencil sketch visible.
such a treat to listen to you while watching your art envelope. Hugs
please please please make more paint making videos!!! theyre sooo relazing and combine with your voice is just 😍😍😍
your style is sooo sick. just felt in love with your drawings. the structures and choices of colours fill me with joy.
I have seen where people package the pans in altoid cans and sold like that. You could do sets that you think are complimentary or just random or have the customer pick the colors for their pan. I would love to paint with your colors. I don’t paint for anyone but myself but I love to use things that people make over industrial companies.
For any (aspiring) artist ever feeling challenged ♥️♥️♥️
"...I was feeling stuck with art and kinda feeling I didnt know even how to make anything, which I know is silly cuz I have been doing this for a while, but i just felt my brain was sort of starting to see the mistakes better and i didnt know how to improve and how to make art that would satisfy my increased observational skills, which is kind of how art works.
I feel that I have to comment here (although I usually stay out of UA-cam comments sections) because I suffer from depression and that depression has been giving me art block where I just can’t want to draw anything and I want to thank you because for the first time in weeks I have an almost clear image of something to draw and it feels like a huge weight has been lifted from me so just thank you😌
Your videos are very relaxing and beautiful to watch
Hire me! 😆 I'll make paint all day! 😂
I may start experimenting with paintmaking myself.
It makes them that much cooler and I'm so excited to get into paint making myself now!
bless your heart... A friend had mentioned your videos and channel... So glad I subscribed! Please make more videos like this... You're so inspiring!
you have definitely inspired me to try to make paint. I don't have the space or time at the moment but I have put on my list of things to try in the future.
Complete honesty, I would pay hard cash for a copy of your watercolor test sketchbook. Like seeing all those colors and everything 😭👌
Beautiful painting
These paints are gorgeous -- I love the idea of an artist making their own materials. It's awesome, and I love learning about the process myself. I'd really love to try these paints you made! Ultramarine Rose is a beautiful color in general. And yeah... I totally understand the chaos and hassle behind trying to package half pans -- I've helped a friend with her process before when she made a bunch of palettes for holiday gifts, rather than to sell. It does require a second set of hands to speed up the process. (That said, lol, I'd totally help if I could!)
This and lemon yellow would be great for your next two color palette
Thank you .. learned so much and enjoyed your painting. xxx
