The fact that Vinny consistently drives in the middle of the track when there's a bullet or a blue shell coming behind him is what baffles me the most.
that mushroom thing is something i like to call "item hell." If there's some sort of connection issue or the game just feels like fucking with you (usually the latter), the item roulette will take much longer to decide an item for you and you can't press L to get an item sooner, either. If you're in any place besides first, this will guarantee you to get mushrooms after a long time, and first place will exclusively get coins. If it triggers at any point in the race, you'll be stuck with it until the very end of it. I've dealt with it far too many times and it isn't even a bad connection issue. Sorry vinny, you have fallen victim to Item Hell.
look how long it takes him to get the item roulette to stop from 8:05 to 8:58. Even if he didn't press any buttons to stop the roulette, the items were taking far too long to appear. You could even see him mashing the horn trying to stop the roulette through most of this. He was trapped in item hell, it wasn't just really bad luck.
this connection problem is actually the only way to have 2 coins at once. Normally the item roulette guarantees that you get something else if you have one coin, and double boxes won't give 2 coins either. But when you're in 1st place in item hell, you're forced into getting only coins
exactly. I figured the coin thing out and so i always save a coin in my slot in first so the next item box guarantees me something else i can defend myself with. It's really neat
This is actually because he was suffering from net code lag. When the online lags in Mario Kart 8 DX the game only gives you certain items. If you're in first and you get double coins it means lag because in any other scenario it's actually impossible to get double coins in any place.

Winning races in this mode grants the player with much more rewards than the regular modes, but the game will do everything in its power to prevent that from happening.
The parts where he's playing the other game modes perfectly shows why I never play them. It's pure cancer, salt, and chaos. Also, at 2:55, someone used that shockwave item thingie while Vinny was above them, and that somehow counted despite Vinny, well, being a b o v e him.
