The devs think they made a fun little party game you play with friends. In reality this game is the reason for many ended relationships and replacement furniture.
The next mario kart should add a feature as to when a player in front is hit, and that player has items spinning around them. Players behind them should be able to grab whatever item they touch surrounding that player. I think that would be a good upgrade.
