    Awesome. Really appreciate your step by step works to show how to DIY the trolling motor. I will try to do it on my trolling motor once I get all the items.

      Thanks! I tried my best to do it so you should be able to build it directly from my video. I wish you lots of success!

      What is the difference between the 221-4 series and the 221-6 series? is it the size?

      I can't really remember how many wagos I used ,but the video should show it. The difference in the models is for higher gauge wire

    How is it going great video... how would you wire the potentiometer to 2 channels to have one button to increase speed and another button to decrease speed?

    Hi Jason in stead of crimping i would have soldered the motor cables bloody good idea i need to do this modification to mine thank you very much Jason for sharing 😀 😊 ☺️

    Subscribed and liked. I did this and it works great, but when my turning motor was not adjusted correctly, I broke a few teeth of the white plastic gear. Any ideas on how I can replace those teeth with something else so I don't have to buy another.

    Awesome video sir. Looking forward to the addition of spot lock. I really enjoy diy projects and I am a cheapskate by nature so you video is right up my alley

      Try an anchor. Works great to keep on a spot. Just kidding. Really enjoyed the first video. I was thinking of running 550 cord to some bolts to steer.

    Jason, I'm working on a similar project with my trolling motor! I've added a RC Transmitter and Receiver Remote Controller for wireless control, kind of similar to your setup. I've used some high torque servos for steering and a high amp PWM speed controller on my trolling motor. If you are interested I can share my parts list. My latest project is "Arduino" logic control over the speed controller and steering servo - I'm trying to get some autopilot or heading lock. I'm working on feeding NMEA 2000 data from my Garmin into my Arduino for autopilot. Trolling motors with wireless controls + autopilot could be $1000 - $3000, so +1 for us doing it on the cheap!

      Awesome! Arduino spot lock is also my next step!

      Hi Matt, im highly interested what kind of parts you’ve used? Btw are going to create some blog or posting videos from the project? What kind of gearbox you’ve used for servo steering?

      Love to hear if you managed a heading out spot lock on the cheap. That would be extra special!!!

    Is there any way yo do this using only one remote? Amazing work.

    • @JasonSipe16
      @JasonSipe16  4 місяці тому

      Yep. You do it with different remote switches and get a 4 button universal. I talked about it at the end of the video.

    Great build. Torquedo can kiss my grits!
    Quick Q, if you can help: Why would my Minn Kota battery box's cigarette adapter only be on a 10a fuse? I use it to charge tool batteries with an inverter. My Dewalt is fine, but my Makita has a fan and it trips. Maybe I change to 15a, but is that bad joo-joo for other reasons?

    • @JasonSipe16
      @JasonSipe16  3 місяці тому

      I honestly can't answer that, because I would guess that would pull a lot more than just 10 amps. It doesn't trip it a lot?

    • @B.A.Bassangler
      @B.A.Bassangler 3 місяці тому

      @@JasonSipe16 Dewalt never trips, Makita after a few seconds. Maybe I do surgery to make fuse changes easier. A bit inaccessible now.

    This is a couple months old but can this be done to a bow mount as well and a motor guide trolling motor ?

    • @JasonSipe16
      @JasonSipe16  3 місяці тому

      Absolutely. I have a couple shorts on my channel that show my other bow mount.

    What servo was used? I didn’t see a link?

      @JasonSipe16  4 місяці тому +1

      Good question. The link to the motor is in my description. It wasn't a servo though.

    Nice work! I've installed Pwm's on a couple of tm and it almost doubles the Ah. If this helps anyone, I bought a Haswing Cayman that's half the price of others, works great and doesn't need a Point One antenna! (another $300)

    Could you give some keywords that maybe included for the gear box, or are they just that generic?
    The hardest part for me remote automating a trolling motor has been the steering mechanism.

    • @JasonSipe16
      @JasonSipe16  6 місяців тому

      I have a link to the specific gearbox that I used in this in the description (or pinned to the top comment here). If you follow this video, you should be able to fully do this from start to finish
