Plerp Plerp is a lovely name, for some reason it delights me! What you say is true by the way, autotune is a horrible assault on the ears and to hear our beloved ABBA together again is soothing and healing, from the outside in.
With only 2 songs after a nearly 40 years abscence, they put to shame to the majority of the now called pop stars. I was smiling hearing this and suddenly something wet was running through my cheeks!
Björn actually said when asked about the new songs, that "the other one sounds like we did it in the 70`s, and the other one is an up beat song." As a fan since the 70`s, I am overwhelmed by emotions seeing them come back, and not only come back, but do it so big, too. I mean, they are building an arena in London for their concerts by their avatars. Who does that? They are releasing an album, Abba Voyage, November 5.
The last part was digital animation of themselves based on how they looked in 1979, for their new 2022 concert in London - this is further explained below by others who have commented. The two new songs ( this and Don’t Shut Me Down) were created for this concert… but as they recorded the new songs they kept going until they recorded a total of 10 new songs for a comeback album to be released in early November 2021.
Sure, I may be biased, but ABBA's comeback is absolutely amazingly magical! Maybe that's what the world needs these days, to bring back happy memories so we can take that feeling forward. Greetings from Sweden!
FIVE big glasses? Are you kidding! lol. Intelligent and articulate reaction. They are all in their 70s now but are working on this concert experience with digital animation of themselves in their prime to give fans (old and new) the chance to see them "as live, in residence" in a custom made arena in London. Their music is timeless, IMO.
Thanks for the reaction. It was great. The last part of the video shows the new "Avatars" of the members of ABBA. Industrial Light and Magic made "digital" versions (of them from 1979) of the group that will be used in a new ABBA Concert Hall in London. Starting next year, you can go see the Digital version of ABBA perform 22 of their hits in this "new" form.
3:15 and your reaction 'What?' 'Where Is This?'. That was during ABBA's 1977 tour of Australia. They were absolutely huge there. They're waving to the thousands of fans from the balcony of Melbourne Town Hall.
I interpret the song exactly the same. It's the starting chapter on this new ABBA voyage where they realize they still have the ABBA spirit within them and decides to express it more in other chapters to come.
The last section is completely CGI, but built on motion capture of the band members recorded recently and using computers to create digital avatars of the group when they were young (as I guess they prefer that nostalgia than showing themselves as old people in their mid-late 70s. It's been 40 years since their last songs.
I guess it's understandable that at their age, giving a full show every evening themselves is a bit too demanding. At the same time, they are substantially older and the maturity is certainly audible in the voice to some degree, so to me, the "Abbatars" look a bit uncanny overlaid with the current voice.
The verses of the song sounds very much like the mini-musical they did - "The Girl With the Golden Hair". Those verses are very reminiscent of "I Wonder" probably also because Frida also sang that song. The Chorus is pure monumental anthem. There are Easter Eggs throughout the song- like ta hint of the military drums from Fernando, The distorted guitar sounds like when they opened at Wembley for there last shows- so its fitting they would reemerge with the same sounds to open a show. The artificial ABBA (ABBATARS) are made with George Lucas Studios and is a 3D lighting effect to give the illusion of reality. These ABBATARS will be what we will be able yo see in concert in London from next year!
Im norwegian. Abba was my childhood favorites in the 70 ties. These 2 men made lots and lots of melodies. Im sure its not difficult for them to renew them, make suitable new lyrics and push out much more of these. They are now into finding out the response so far. As any other creative musicians they had lots of songs to pick from in those days, when they made their albums. I dont think these are new. The lyrics, but not the songs. Nice to hear them in their adult mature form/voices.
They were 2 couples, but not anymore. Despite that they never stop the friendship and the professionalism. In fact the strongest bond that kept them together is the old frienfship between Benni and Bjorn.
Benny is amazing. After leaving ABBA he was in his own band called Benny Andersson Band. one of my favourite songs EVER was from this band... Its called Story of a Heart. it sounds so ABBA like but it isn't... I always used to think of it as an ABBA song hahaha... its not unfortunately.
@@tershii Hi TJ Ay, I just discovered Benny Andersson Band last week (twelve years later, but better late than never)! Benny was always my ABBA favourite, since I was a little kid and all these years later Benny still has a kid-friendly fun about him and his big band does too! You are right "Story of a Heart" is an incredible song, ABBA worthy, and Helen Sjöholm gives it ABBA quality vocals! Everyone would like to hear ABBA cover it, no doubt, it sounds perfectly crafted for Agnetha and Frida's harmonies but it I really think the song is wonderful as it is. I hope more people read your comment and find it.
Enjoyed your review ! ...and yes you are right about lifelong fans having such profound feeling of nostalgia, I had tears of joy when first listening, watching this video of "I still have faith in you". Two songs released now, the other "Don't Shut Me Down" lyric video for now. A full new album will release on Nov. 5, 2021, ABBA Voyage ! Scenes at the end of this video are digital versions of themselves as they looked in their heyday...avatars, Abba-tars. A groundbreaking new technology which will probably open up a whole new side of the entertainment industry. ABBA, including their loyal creative team surrounding them, were innovators with music and visuals. They were making music videos 8 years ahead of MTV and VH-1. Their video man in the '70's was Lasse Halstrom, whom today is an accomplished well known movie director. ABBA are currently building a special concert arena in London which will open in May 2022. It will be a sound and visual immersive experience for attendees. Welcome back ABBA !
O meu sorriso apenas se abre ( quase dando um laço)... 😁 Coragem , paixão e fé são motores imprescindíveis! The show will be made in "MO-CAP" (Motion Capture). There will be an Abba Arena in London only for this show. It's a very clever concept. That's why the second single makes so much sense when Agneta sings "I'm not the one you knew, I'm now and then combined." And if you think about it, Gorillaz was a virtual band and Abba transformed into one.
Don't forget they are all 70+ years old..They have had an 39 year break.. To come back in this way after that amount of time.. Well what other band would do that...?? .. Yeah it may be nostalgia but they still have the magic left in an older way. And we who grow up with the music this touch our hearts.. And I think that it honours them that they don't try to make themself into something new.. They bring back what they where. And to me it's what I loved of them..
Abba are performing in motion capture suits and ILM who did the Star Wars effects then recreated their look from 1979. So very much like the Rogue One stuff
I think you are spot on with the comparison to the feeling of a musical. This song definitely evokes the same feeling of "With just one look" from Sunset Boulevard
FYI … In this video, when you saw ABBA singing THIS song ( “I Still Have Faith in You”) on stage, you were actually seeing a glimpse of their NEW digital avatars, created by ILM (the special effects company of George Lucas, who created Star Wars) and their upcoming concert will be performed by live voice and movement from them but in avatar form…they appear as they were in 1979. They actually built a very special and unique technological concert stadium for this in London, England just for this new technology. They’re about to do a concert in a way that has NEVER been done before, and in the process make music concert history!!
They were both married and in serious relationships. Also the film footage is from an amazing film called ABBA the Movie! You will really enjoy it.. It's from 1978.. That was their wardrobe and style they had created. They were one of the first to promote themselves through videos before MTV.
Björn and Benny made three musicals since ABBA had been at hold since1982, correct observation. All of them successful btw. ABBA is also the background sound to my childhood and youth, growing up in Sweden. One of the best selling bands world wide ever. For the the last ten years, I've listened to the from a different perspective and I confess to being struck by the genius of ABBA, both musically and lyrically. Usually I^m more in to acts like Nick Cave, Joy Division, The Smiths and The The.
Until now two new ABBA songs have been known, both different in their themes and leading voices And both have the ABBA trademark on their solvency in musical composition and production We know the great spirit of perfection that Björn and Benny impress on their creations, and both new creatures live up to their great successes of the 80s. So the biggest mystery was to know the state of the voices of Agnetha and Frida and how they could react to the inevitable passing of the decades and their possible comparisons with previous classics. And I must also say that they both look very good And in that "look" there is an extraordinary job of caring for Björn and Benny to "take care" of their historical singers, partners and former partners. They gave them two wonderful songs, with beautiful melodies and deep lyrics, but they were also surrounded by the iconic hooks and the appeal to emotional nostalgia "I still have faith in You" is an unpublished song in its conception in the history of ABBA because it is self-referential about them as a group, and it is also testimonial, because they tell us about their experiences in all this time Musically it is a ballad with mystical and epic A stately and majestic piano, and Frida's soft voice conducts and recreates ABBA's story with poignant beauty, with Agnetha joining in some verses to emphasize The sound of the drums arrives (a nod to the mega hit "Fernando") as if preparing the change of rhythm And with a powerful guitar comes that first unpublished chorus, because this time all ABBA sings from the bowels of its history and with the strength of its testimony of life, of healing and togetherness. And in the second chorus, even stronger, it becomes very clear that ABBA sings with the passion and courage that Björn's excellent lyrics stand out, it is like a triumphant song of their survival and their bond. And it ends with a solo by Frida, flawless, with the flutes at the end Also isn't a commercial song (more than 5 minutes) it's so emotional, with a fantastic vídeo of all greatest memories of pictures, official videos of 70s songs and Australia tour ABBA really comes back at high level The world needs ABBA sound
That the song sounds like a musical is no surprise to true ABBA fans (those of us who listen to the entire discography, not just the catchy songs). They have many such songs in their repertoire and most of them are sung by Frida and her wonderful and captivating voice. Songs like "I wonder", "Like an angel passing through my room", "I let the music speak", "The visitors" and many more, are masterpieces, overlooked by those who only listen to the hits. I love the 2 new songs. It's ABBA 100%.
For goods sake they are now 73 too 78 years old!! Just that is incredible I think you overanalysing them, They are the best selling artist after Beatlse,,,,,,,BTW you are very good loking Man,,,,,,LOVE FROM SWEDEN❤❤❤
I definitely hear a theatrical style especially how they took the verse and chorus and sang them together toward the end. I am enjoying this song more and more as I hear it. The other new track is quite nice as well.
The video at the end of the song where you see Frida singing, and the others, was created digitally for there forthcoming show. They all went in to be wired up to sing the songs, with 160 cameras filming every move and then the footage was used to retro age them to how they looked 40 years ago. The show they are creating for next year will be live, except that ABBA will be digitally created. You can watch an explanation of what they are doing here: ua-cam.com/video/pJBGk9Hed8o/v-deo.html&ab_channel=ABBA
🧡 ABBA ! NOSTALGIC AND TRIUMPHANT This is ABBA at their best in paying tribute to all of us fans who never wanted ABBA to leave the stage, who believed in the magic - even when they no longer did - and for keeping the faith. The magic is indeed still there. Credit also to George Lucas' Light and Magic Company for recreating ABBA as 3-D holograms on stage to remind us of where we left off before the real ABBA takes to the stage again. May this song, all others on this new album, and the album itself earn them PLATINUM. They so deserve it after 40 years. WELCOME HOME. Thanks, Frank. For the love of music, and ABBA - Peace.
Great reaction probably the best I've watched in the 20+ I have seen. 46 here and love them can't wait to see them in England. The end of the video was part of the new show they are going to put on with holograms on stage.
They had a special venue built in London had their ABBAtars on stage rather than themselves, and their faces as they looked in 1979 were put on the abbatars. Those were not holograms.
Been a fan since 92, met the guys and was soooo nervous before they played the new songs. But, I cried when I listened to "faith". They are great. Incredibly great.!!!!!!!!!!
It‘s so interesting and funny to see several reactions here on YT on both new songs. This one by Frank and the one for „don‘t shut me down“ I really love because it shows that the way of ABBA‘s music still work after so many years. Even for people who are not that familiar with the group. Since the 2nd. Sept. I have a big party in me. Yes: i do have it in me!!! 😀
There is a reason we still listen to Bach, Beethoven, Mozart etc. Because it's classical music and it touch the soul forever and never die. Most modern music is not close to that and it fades quickly out.
Great reaction! Spot on comments. Sounds like you know your music. The video at the end where they look unnatural is their digital avatars -- they were motion captured by George Lucas' ILM in preparation for their digital-hologram concert(s). Hopefully it becomes more life-like later. They have a new album with 10 songs. If my guess is right, they will include these songs for a Mama Mia 3 musical/movie.
I also have mixed feelings about the ABBA-tar situation. In a way I would prefer them to just put on concerts as their actual selves, would seem more authentic. But I also get the appeal of recreating the past, it really brings the nostalgia to the max. At the end of the day let them do what they want, eh?
This edition is such a fascinating experience, like opening a time capsel. Certain return to times when music served to show its real power of gaining the best in ourselves, using everything what makes us humans: the melody that is exposed by inspirative and musical singing, creativity of its authors who respect all standard laws of music creation as well as clever production sollutions, avoiding overproduction and postproductive challenges of modern technologies, arranging according to logical development of musical thoughts based on experience of "old school" making music. Somewhere I found that Benny and Bjorn were both self-thought musicians, but their approach to composition had somehow always reflected thorough understanding of basic, almost classical musical principles of organizing main thematic ideas, development and imitation that were usually tought in schools. As a musician myself, I owe a lot to their greatest songs that had been sweeping me during my childhood besides the music of Beethoven and others, because my very first attempts to play something else on the piano except sheet exercise music were just timeless melodies of ABBA songs. I was led by my ears, and immediately I became aware of immense beauty of many harmonic sollutions Benny and Bjorn placed below their catchy musical lines. However, today we see that ABBA has used modern technology in field of visual, creating astonishing avatars looking like them in times of popularity peaks. This is really a challenge of a special kind, although I personally wouldn't have anything against their appearance in present image today.
The ones that appear in 3 min 41 ' are their avatars, so named ABBA-tars, created by a tem of Industrial Light & Magic in their first production in music industry using motion capture of thm. They wanted to look like they looked like back in the late 70's.
They used to be a .. double couple.. 50 years ago... they both broked down when they were still at the top of their career.. at the present everyone of them has got his private life.. I'm really longing for the 5th of november when the new album will sort out with all those brand new 10 hits in it... ABBA are back.. life is back !!
The video clips in the beginning of the first song is outtakes from the music videos and concerts and stills from before 1982 but very much new for the fans like "bloopers reels".
yes they were real couples. Bjorn and Agneta got married before ABBA was started. They met Benny and Agneta that was then boyfriend and girlfriend, that got married later when ABBA was formed already
Hi Frank. Grazie mille for the video. I was not aware about this new ABBA's song. Amazing. I'm just 32 but it's really nostalgic even though. Please make more reactions on their live songs at Wembley. It's a great live concert. Certainly you'll enjoy "money, money, money"
Actually if we didn’t know this was computer generated I do think we wouldn’t notice it and thinking it was “real”. They did a really great job with the effects despite that we’re still not further in the future yet with the technology.
I actually didn't know it was avatars when I first watched it and I did see that it wasn't real when it was up close. In the distance maybe not so much.
@@postcardsfromprotest Thanks, yes i gree with you that their voices are note perfect. If i listen carefully the start is pure Agneta's voice. In the refrain i hear pitch switch for the layers but also some "electronic" sound through their voices (to make it more rich) if i'm not mistaken. Anyway, this song is so good and uplifting your day ;-)
I like your style, Sir. Obviously a musician, you are very articulate, and I appreciate your reaction to this. I am one of the crazy ABBAphiles. I am wondering, do you also do reactions to classical music? I assume you are a rocker.
You mentioned to drink water....and this is how you should do it: 1 glass of water when you wake up 1 glass of water half hour before meals 1 glass of water before you take a bath or shower 1 glass of water at bedtime
And if your glasses are close to a liter big you would drink enough water for the day. Yes, you should drink water as you say, not you should drink so much more than that.
Yes, I like it too! But it seems to me that Cry softly and destiny of love are even better of secret service 🇸🇪 ua-cam.com/video/YZRaEPf5pYI/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/ROQoNT8taEc/v-deo.html
This is what singing without autotune sounds like. Wonderful.

With only 2 songs after a nearly 40 years abscence, they put to shame to the majority of the now called pop stars. I was smiling hearing this and suddenly something wet was running through my cheeks!
The best pop group ever walked on this planet. Hands down.
Björn actually said when asked about the new songs, that "the other one sounds like we did it in the 70`s, and the other one is an up beat song."

ABBA split in the year I was born 1982. So it makes sense to be excited for this reunion/comeback. ABBA ♥️ ♥️ ♥️
I was born one month before they stopped activity. In same month when they released last single - Under Attack.
Awesome. Abba is such a great band... Grazie. Bravíssimo.

Pure talent, all of them!
I interpret the song exactly the same. It's the starting chapter on this new ABBA voyage where they realize they still have the ABBA spirit within them and decides to express it more in other chapters to come.

True. And Frida always had warmth, but man her lower register is just WOW.

New song, old footage. It's a beautiful record nd they still have that Abba magic.

And I must also say that they both look very good
And in that "look" there is an extraordinary job of caring for Björn and Benny to "take care" of their historical singers, partners and former partners. They gave them two wonderful songs, with beautiful melodies and deep lyrics, but they were also surrounded by the iconic hooks and the appeal to emotional nostalgia
"I still have faith in You" is an unpublished song in its conception in the history of ABBA
because it is self-referential about them as a group,
and it is also testimonial, because they tell us about their experiences in all this time
Musically it is a ballad with mystical and epic
A stately and majestic piano, and Frida's soft voice conducts and recreates ABBA's story with poignant beauty,
with Agnetha joining in some verses to emphasize
The sound of the drums arrives (a nod to the mega hit "Fernando") as if preparing the change of rhythm
And with a powerful guitar comes that first unpublished chorus, because this time all ABBA sings from the bowels of its history and with the strength of its testimony of life, of healing and togetherness.
And in the second chorus, even stronger, it becomes very clear that ABBA sings with the passion and courage that Björn's excellent lyrics stand out, it is like a triumphant song of their survival and their bond.
And it ends with a solo by Frida, flawless, with the flutes at the end
Also isn't a commercial song (more than 5 minutes) it's so emotional, with a fantastic vídeo of all greatest memories of pictures, official videos of 70s songs and Australia tour
ABBA really comes back at high level
The world needs ABBA sound
They were two married couples but both couples divorced in the end if the 70's.
ABBA has landed 🛬
🧡 ABBA !
NOSTALGIC AND TRIUMPHANT
This is ABBA at their best in paying tribute to all of us fans who never wanted ABBA to leave the stage, who believed in the magic - even when they no longer did - and for keeping the faith.
I am impressed how beautiful production and the voices too
Don't shut me down is also s new song, pls react to that also
Great reaction probably the best I've watched in the 20+ I have seen.
I am really liking your reactions and analysis, so much that I subscribed to your channel. Bedank!
Maybe they don't feel confident singing physically exhausting shows night after night noe that they're all over 70
@@popland1977 Also a good point. :)
Totally let them do what they want, respect both ways, and they haven’t gone cheap with this…let’s not forget what ILM are capable of!
This is new! And these are Avatars.. Now known as Abbatars!
I think they are on their way to perform live in Australia, (about the footage that they show with the striking clothing)
A brilliant comeback ABBA!! Big hugs from Argentina Frank
Good reaction, smart boy 👍😁
They used to be a .. double couple.. 50 years ago... they both broked down when they were still at the top of their career.. at the present everyone of them has got his private life..
I'm really longing for the 5th of november when the new album will sort out with all those brand new 10 hits in it... ABBA are back.. life is back !!
Well, agneta and Björn meet of course like family, because they have children and grandchildren together 😊
and the chorus Agneta and Anne-Frida sings together
The crowed was from scene in Australia
That special footage is made with mocap. They look like 30-35 years old.
The video clips in the beginning of the first song is outtakes from the music videos and concerts and stills from before 1982 but very much new for the fans like "bloopers reels".
Good morning to you, Good Night for me.😍
Good night
Good morning! Happy weekend for you.! Happy Holiday for Brasil!! 🥰
Happy holidays!
@@FrankValchiria thank you ! Setember 7th Independence day !
yes they were real couples.
❤
Actually if we didn’t know this was computer generated I do think we wouldn’t notice it and thinking it was “real”. They did a really great job with the effects despite that we’re still not further in the future yet with the technology.
Agreed it is only because we all have knowledge to tell us - good point 👏
I actually didn't know it was avatars when I first watched it and I did see that it wasn't real when it was up close. In the distance maybe not so much.
Great !!! Ontem pensei até em sugerir uma reação. O legal é que a turnê vai ser com os avatares na versão jovens.
This beautiful song was made with the latest technolegies in auto tune and voice dubbing and creating that typical ABBA sound. Heroic!
Anyway, this song is so good and uplifting your day ;-)
More reactions about ABBA !!! Please please please . Hugs from Sydney
Frank, I'm sad to see all of your ABBA reactions get blurred out'
It's the ABBAtars at the end. They will perform in London next year.
Hello there Valchiria, Abba remember my youth..😎👍
The end ones are the abbatars new album after 40 yesrs
Lovely. For us swedes in the fifties it’s big emotions❤️
I like this man but would enjoyed more if he took 15 minutes to prepare and get answers to his own questions. Would give more focus.
Yes, nice guy but research first then listen.
Disagree. |I like the reaction when they are a susprise.
Avatars....right at the end. The Avatars will perform "live" in the Dome in London in 2022
Thank you 😊 👍
I like your style, Sir. Obviously a musician, you are very articulate, and I appreciate your reaction to this. I am one of the crazy ABBAphiles. I am wondering, do you also do reactions to classical music? I assume you are a rocker.
You mentioned to drink water....and this is how you should do it:
1 glass of water when you wake up
1 glass of water half hour before meals
1 glass of water before you take a bath or shower
1 glass of water at bedtime
And if your glasses are close to a liter big you would drink enough water for the day. Yes, you should drink water as you say, not you should drink so much more than that.
@@carinalindberg7377 👍🙂 Yes, everything in moderation.
Yes, both couples were married.
Please React to Secret Service - Oh Susie ⛸️ I think they are from the same wave🌊
Yes, I like it too! But it seems to me that Cry softly and destiny of love are even better of secret service 🇸🇪
