I'm surprised there isn't a Kirby cereal! I could picture is kind of like a mish-mash of Lucky Charms and Cheerios, with Pink Os being Kirby and the marshmallows being based off of Kirby characters!

I’m surprised Banjo-Kazooie didn’t receive its own cereal. I’d imagine it mainly comprising of honeycomb-flavoured hexagonal pieces, cinnamon-flavoured Jiggies & Music Notes and mixed fruit Jinjos corresponding to their colours:
Blue = Blueberry
Green = Apple
Orange = Orange
Purple = Grape
Yellow = Banana

The Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr. Cereal seems to be closer related to the Saturday Supercade show based on the game, rather than the game itself. The animation style and DK Jr's design seems to be the same.
This came out before that, and actually in the first DK cereal commercial the characters look a bit more like the arcade and Atari boxart.

Just saying, Lucio-Ohs are actually pretty good! Not my favorite, but not disgusting either! Plus the box is neat to keep! The art on it is pretty sweet.
Actually bananas and fruits mae perfect sense for Donkey Kong Jr, because you have to drop the fruit on the enemies

I remember getting the sky landers cereal and I got the cinnamon toast version and the cards are actually based on a virtual card game in one of the skylander games sky landers giants
In late 2008 Lucio Oh's was my favorite cereal. I couldn't get enough of it and Overwatch.
Sadly they discontinued it. I miss it so much.
It's still for sale in America and yeah it still tastes amazing. This guys video wont age well.
Kellogg's was a friggin' monster when it came to Pokemon stuff back in the day. I specifically remember having Pokemon-themed Chocolate Chip Eggo Waffles that had Gengar and Clefairy shaped into them, and Pokemon Pop-tarts that were... wait for it... Berry flavored.
Oh yeah they did! There was also that Pokemon Kraft Mac'N'Cheese, and Welches even had jelly that came in special Pokemon glass collectors jars. I do remember the waffles too though!
The idea of cereals coming with cd-rom games started way earlier than 2010. General Mills had a massive promotion where there was a pc game with every box (Monopoly, battleship, operation, aladdin, potato head activity center, game of life, candyland, Jeopardy, Sorry!, Rollercoaster tycoon, Monopoly tycoon, stuart little 2, wheel of fortune, operation krabby patty etc. its goes on). A lot of these were full versions of retail games and they were a lot of fun (but slowed your computer down). I remember spending $60 at walmart on RCT2 when it first came out, only a short while later to have the game come free in a cereal box lol. I remember when those came out in 01/02. The Nostalgia. I wish it was mentioned here!
Hey Badnik Mechanic, I dont think the Overwatch cereal came out in 2008 XD, my lil sista loves the game n bought a box n says it didnt taste so good because It doesnt have much of a flavor.
I used to LOVE skylanders. Trap Team was the last good game in my opinion and even then Trap Team had a lot of flaws.
I'd have to disagree, every game after giants kinda sucked.

I really enjoyed this well encompassed history of video game cereal promotions. I only have the Super Mario cereal but I have heard about some of the early ones. I didn't realize though that there was a donkey Kong or donkey Kong jr. Or Pac-Man cereal.
I ate the NES cereal when it was made. There was fruit snacks, where you had to find a blue Princess Toadstool (Peach), and send that in for a prize. There was 4 sodas with different flavors with Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool, and Yoshi on the cans.
I had one of those Sonic spinners when I was a kid 😀
That Sonic Golden Rings photo looks like it was taken in the Cereal Killer cafe on Brock Lane, London. A cafe decimated to cereal. I went there a couple of years ago, they have loads of old cereals and old merchandise that came from cereals.

Ιts all psychology accompanied with the colored boxes,the music they play,the promotional stuff as well included in each box & stuff.There is a whole philosophy regarding the sells & such in the product championships to sell more than the usual,healthy or not they don't care of course not surpassing specific standards naturally.For instance even the music that they playing when you ender in a mall plays a really important role for your psychology to make you go in there and want to buy something.Its all psychology when it comes to commercialising even the smallest and simplest thingy to make it looks huge in your tv set & stuff.Oh and the stuff they usually give inside those boxes are make kinder eggs toys look like shiny trophy gallery of the rarest blind bag variants!

What’s funny about Sonic’s tan legs in the Frosties commercial is that’s actually what I always thought Classic Sonic looked like.

Oh my god, I remember that angry birds promotion! I actually still have it on my old hard drive, there were 2 cd games they were part 1 and part 2 and they were some pretty crappy flash games. The plot was pretty much this "ThE pIgS sToLe tHe cErEaL yOu gOtTa gEt iT bAcK" and it had 7 or 8 short levels.

I do wanna say tho I think the video could benefit from some more thought out orginization and editing. The phrase "This game was big like guitar hero" was uttered so many times it got very repetitive and became a little deteriorating. I think it would have been better if you bunched them all together into one group of products that faded away instead of repeating yourself over and over like that. You dwelled on each individual one to repeat mostly the same points and phrases.
Id also work on making your videos just a little shorter. A good way through the video I had to stop and check how long it could carry on for, id recommend taking time to figure out how best to pace your work, it sort of feels like a bunch of individual segments that were all put in together with no rhyme to it (ie all the sonic promotions are completely spread throughout the video, the mario cereal being in the middle of the 'like guitar hero' products) I think figuring out a certain flow and organization to your videos would help the pacing a lot!
Regardless this was a good video on a really niche fun topic, I look forward to more videos in the future!

The lack of plastic "toys" in cereal boxes is actually more recent than you think. I can't remember if the last one I saw was Secret Life of Pets, Star Wars episode 7, or Minions. I swear there was something even more recent, but I can't name it off the top of my head. Now, you're lucky to see stickers, and even then you need to buy the biggest box they make. Talk about cheap.
I've actually wanted to see someone talk about this, I'm glad its you. I've tried to collect modern video game cereals. I have the Super Mario Cereal and Lucio-o's (Mario and Overwatch). I've never actually eaten the Overwatch cereal, but you get to download Lucio's album for free off of it, so I did that. I really like the Mario Cereal though, it's basic but good. I really would like to own and try the Nintendo Cereal System, but that's not happening.

I know this video is a year old but did you know that Captain Crunch partnered with Pokemon around the same time that the Pokemon cereal was released and did a promotional tie-in with them. In specially marked boxes you could find a 35 mil Pokemon film camera. I actually have one with the original box. I hardly found any information on it when I got it this year other than a commercial for it. Once again I know this video is old and the comment is probably going to get buried.

I've tried the Super Mario Odyssey cereal before with the Odyssey packaging and it was pretty delicious! I really wish that the Super Mario cereal would stay forever and ever! I also wish that they would release cereals for the upcoming movies such as Detective Pikachu 2, Sonic 2, Tomb Raider 2, and the Super Mario animated movie by Illumination.
