How to (or Not to) Add Art Gilt to a Bible!

A little over two weeks ago I bought some metallic gold archival ink (I realy wanted blue, red & yellow but that’s all the store had) and I also happened to pick up that exact same brush handle… thingy? I plan to practice on some of my regular books before I move onto my bibles. As easy as it “looks”, I’m sure there’s a slight learning curve. I have several hardback bibles that have no edge-guilding at all that I would like to try adding color to 😊 Since I have no major plans this weekend I think Imma give it a go. It’s all been sitting in a closet patiently. Lol
Oooo so are you doing the Outer gilding our the under art gilt with the metallic? Yeah practice, probably would be good to practice with different amounts of ink on the brush as well as application patterns. I just practically winged it, so I’m not too upset although it could have gone better 😅
@@TheBibleReviewer So, it’s gonna be an outer guilding color (since it doesn’t have any to begin with) but I’d like to also see the color when the pages are open so… I’m gonna have some ink’d up edges through and through! I wonder if that’s asking for trouble 😳😄

Love that ink color. I think you did a great job. Do you know if that ink is waterproof? I’ve seen some Bibles very “speckled” from just a few sprinkles of water. But, I actually thought it was cool looking. Lol. Thx for showing us. 👍
Thank you! I honestly have no idea what would happen if I got water on it. This was the only time I’ve done this and I haven’t spilled anything on it, at least not yet haha
