Beeing the only guy at school who watches wrestling and always looking forward to the nxt takeovers even weeks/months in advance, beeing completely invested in what they showed every wednesday. Truly the greatest time of my childhood. R.I.P. Black and Gold and thank you Tripple H.
Wow! Thanks for making this. Ive heard of NXT but I no idea how big they were in the late 2010's with all those Takeovers. I only started watching in 2019 and had no idea about all the great history. Thank you once again!
I went from not knowing what NXT was around Wrestlemania 33… slowly but surely I would see wrestling highlights and became intrigued with this company with a black mat and gold ropes… took me some time to find the logo on the turnbuckle… after that the rest was history… NXT became my favorite wrestling show to watch every Wednesday then every Tuesday and once 2.0 came it was never the same. So much Lightning was caught into a bottle. From Undisputed Era, to Bobby Roode, to WarGames, just so much greatness for something that was treated as a developmental brand.
My favorite era in wrestling. 2015-2019 NXT along with the rise in NJPW and creation of AEW from 2017-2019 made for such a special time in terms of match quality, storytelling, and crossover feeling prior to the pandemic.
Shout out to Sasha Banks ❤ that takeover match randomly found its way to me & reignited my love for women’s wrestling. I hadn’t been that invested in a women’s match in awhile & I stopped watching around the AJ Lee/Kaitlyn era.
No mention of Enzo & Cass makes this video S-A-W-F-T SAAAAAWFT! For real, thanks for the bringing up some great memories. Instead of making the 100th version of the documentary on the NWO, WWE should be making docs on NXT rivalries, history and characters.
It's a shame that wwe buried most the roster from nxt's early years like bo dallas, the ascension, and neville went being champions in nxt to jobbers on the main roster in only a year or two. Also tyler breeze deserved better, he went from wrestling jushin thunder liger to jobbing to dolph ziggler in only 3 months.
NXT Black and Gold era was a best time for nxt. Perfect Storylines, Awesome Matches, Shocking Moments Everything was so good. And for me main highlight of Nxt Black and gold era was the matches, some matches i want to listed below 1) Johnny Gargano vs Tomasso Ciampa 2) Adam Cole vs Johnny Gargano 3) Aleistar Black vs Adam Cole 4) Johnny Gargano vs Andrade 5) Johnny Gargano vs Ricochet 6) Wargames 2019 Team Ciampa vs Undisputed Era 7) Finn Balor vs Kyle O Reilly 8) Adam Cole vs Kyle O Reily 9) Sami Zayn vs Shinsuke Nakamura 10) DIY vs Revival

This era of NXT was great and I really wish I hadn’t stopped watching WWE around this time but it’s starting to get good again. I just don’t ever see it getting to the heights or peak black and gold
Early NXT was so great due to its simplicity. I think it took a year and half before we got the first chair shot on NXT TV. It made it stand out because you didn't see it in the NXT universe that was created. Finishers were as protected as you can it todays wrestling
Ppl hated that nxt’s go to feud of gargano vs Ciampa seemed like a constant glass break emergency BUT seem to forget that the feud was constantly ruined due to injuries/pandemic never receiving its proper finale it deserved. Ciampa acl tear in 2017 halted the feud. Then Aleister Black got injured forcing what was supposed to be a 3 way to become Ciampa vs Gargano 3 when it wasn’t supposed to happen til mania weekend. Then that mania takeover match was halted by Ciampa’s neck injury. Their finale ended up in an empty arena which is sad

For me, NXT was at it's peak from 2017-2020. I feel like NXT TakeOver: Portland was the last true Classic show NXT put on and after Covid hit, things never felt the same. This brought me back, that shinsuke vs Sami match is in my top 5 matches ever so many moments to even name, buddy Murphy came up through this same era side by side with the revival, diy,Bobby roode had a run that should’ve made him a top star on main roster, Samoa joe both runs, that whole “if provoked” shit was crazy, undisputed era felt like a new age evolution, the bruiserweights, riddle vs thatcher, Becky and Sasha rivalry was amazing, when I saw Enzo and cass for the first time I lost it and the Kevin owens heel turn then he destroys Sami and brings the title to raw to face cena, when butch had a body and a different name and he was just breaking limbs, triple h put some work in
I remember when nxt goes 2.0 I cried my heart out because its was my last thing to look forward and I wasn't feeling/doing the best. But I couldn't enjoying like '14-'20 NXT. Words cannot describe just how special this era was for us fans. NXT truly had something the main roster was lacking at the time, passion. Everything that was shown, such as storylines, characters, the wrestling, promos, the crowd reactions, everything was nearly perfect. For me and my brother, it was NXT that brought back our passion for wrestling as it gave us so much nostalgia and vibes from our favorite era, Ruthless Aggression. I still never forget Sami Zayn what he did in 2013-2014 that version of sami zayn is my favorite version of Sami Zayn, I hope Triple H brings that Sami Zayn back.
NXT made me come back to wrestling after a while of being lapsed because of the sameness of main roster. NXT TakeOver would always be such a hype night with genuinely some of the best matches I've ever seen. I miss it so much.
What do you mean? All over them did well, but as soon as they went to WWE (Vince's control), they all failed. It wasn't their fault. Now with Hunter running WWE, look at how good WWE is now!
Vince McMahon was the blame for those amazing talents. It is such a relief that he retired. Triple H being the head of creative for the main roster, Stephanie being the new CEO of the company and Shawn Michaels is now running and booking new talent on NXT. I hope 2023 goes back on track to where we can hopefully enjoy the product once again.

Black and Gold forever 🖤💛 NXT ignited my love for pro wrestling, I used to woke up at 4 am to watch Takeovers ! Just finished rewatching Dijak vs Lee at Takeover Portland holy shit ! Two big men doing things I can't even imagine. WTF did Vince did to Dijak hiding him in a mask.
As a little kid during the Hulkamania era, and a teen during the attitude Era, I have to say that NXT has been my favorite thing ever in wrestling! I have truly been spoiled as a wrestling fan during nxt's heyday. Thank you Triple H!
Easily the best TV weakly of the 2010s, NXT was always the thing to watch during the dark period of WWE. The matches were amazing, the feuds were amazing, the PPVs quality were amazing. NXT was amazing as a whole.

There are three versions of NXT: Game Show, Black & Gold, 2.0 Developmental. I honestly love each version but the Black & Gold/Indie Era is by ar the best. reason of NXT is basically the best show on WWE programming
We were so spoilt of how amazing this era was. I still watch NXT and enjoy it but this was just our go to place when RAW and Smackdown was just horrific and painful to watch
For obvious reasons, 2020 and 2021 were rough years for the brand, but I would've liked for them to at least try one or two TakeOvers in the thunder dome. It would've been a refreshing visual, which could've helped the brand feel alive again, but I digress. Hopefully we get TakeOvers again in 2023.
I didn’t watch nxt much from 2012-2015. But the second half of 2015-2020 nxt was amazing. The takeover shows were always better than the main roster ppv the next night
This video truly brought a tear to my eye. Black and Gold was special. But a lot of what made Black and Gold magical is being translated into today's product, so while it hurts that we no longer have that era of NXT, its essence runs deep within the veins of today's WWE, and I'm loving being a fan today. One memory I'll always cherish was being at NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia. What a show!!!
man i miss black and gold brand, that brand re-ignite my fire for WWE again. their theme slipknot's " all out life " was magical and one lyric screams what NXT is " WE ARE NOT YOUR KIND " that empasize on how different it is from the main roster and how amazing they are
This type of content is actually amazing! I loved every moment of this video. this is why I keep coming back. You never fail to impress me with the amount of work you put into these videos. Keep it up!
I know this sounds weird, but Triple H and Dusty Rhodes had/raised a lot of children from NXT to WWE. 😂 He honestly should be extremely proud for successfully raising the next generation of talent. We got some of our most fondest memories during this time, especially from 2016-2020. Truly good times. Absolutely fantastic work on this nostalgic documentary, homie, you nailed it with this one.👍😭
NXT black and gold had the best vibe, And the matches during 2018 and 2019 was just spectacular. Andrande vs Gorgano and Revival vs DIY were my favourite NXT matches.
Yeah 2018-19 NXT (and a bit of 2020) it’s peak professional wrestling.
@@Levit7 and 2016 to 2018
@@Levit7 but who can forget keith lee sends adam cole flying into the wwe fans ohhhh my goodness I was crying laughing so hard in November 2019
@@antionettawolfe9933and when Keith lee defeated adam cole and become NXT champion alongside Keith Lee hold NXT North America Title Too that match was epic and i literally shocked when Keith lee defeated adam cole
It was literally the golden era of NXT
It was the golden era of WWE
@@mattemattics5667that's a bit much.
You can't call the first 10 years of something the golden era when it's not much older. That's like having a 5 year old kid and saying these first 5 years were the best
Attitude era of developmental
@@austinplaster8400 I did, and I'm correct. That's how good it was.
Honestly I think the pandemic is when black and gold NXT quality started to drop. Honestly gotta a lot of love for NXT during its peak
Nah....it was when they rebranded to NXT 2.0 is when the quality of the show fell off completely
From 2014 to 2019 NXT was THE SHOW for me. 2020-21 NXT was still good but didn't hit the same.
I still never forget Sami Zayn what he did in 2013-2014 that version of sami zayn is my favorite version of Sami Zayn, I hope Triple H brings that Sami Zayn back.
He basically is
From NXT takeover Brooklyn 2015 - Nxt takeover Portland 2020 was what kept my love for wrestling alive
NXT made me come back to wrestling after a while of being lapsed because of the sameness of main roster. NXT TakeOver would always be such a hype night with genuinely some of the best matches I've ever seen. I miss it so much.
NXT was legitimately the only reason I was still watching WWE. This is why for years I wanted Triple H to takeover WWE. NXT will forever be missed.
You got your wish, hope it pans out
Triple H only has one track mind booking though, unless it's interferences bringing back released personnel can only save you so long.
I stopped watching WWE in the end of 2012. NXT is what brought me back to watching WWE again in 2014 when it started at its peak.
Me too 😢
NXT gave every wrestler a chance sad so many failed 😢
What do you mean? All over them did well, but as soon as they went to WWE (Vince's control), they all failed. It wasn't their fault. Now with Hunter running WWE, look at how good WWE is now!
Vince McMahon was the blame for those amazing talents. It is such a relief that he retired. Triple H being the head of creative for the main roster, Stephanie being the new CEO of the company and Shawn Michaels is now running and booking new talent on NXT. I hope 2023 goes back on track to where we can hopefully enjoy the product once again.
going to those Full Sail shows are some of my favorite memories ever. Such a raw atmosphere. I’ll hold the Black and Gold close to my heart forever man, what a special era
Black and Gold forever 🖤💛
NXT ignited my love for pro wrestling, I used to woke up at 4 am to watch Takeovers !
2017-20 NXT was 10x better than main roster
it's still better than the current main roster also
Easily the best TV weakly of the 2010s, NXT was always the thing to watch during the dark period of WWE. The matches were amazing, the feuds were amazing, the PPVs quality were amazing. NXT was amazing as a whole.

I wish I could go back to 2012 and feel the energy from beginning to end over again 😪
I wish someone did a long NXT MV tribute video with some of their best takeover match cards and iconic moments!!!!
I was waiting so much for this one, LET'S GOOOOO
Your channel is amazing
it’s aew’s fault, and the fact that Cody is a founder of aew and is glorified by everyone makes me sick, rip black and gold 💔
The Prince gimmick for Finn's 2nd run in NXT saved him without it he wouldn't be the big boss of Judgement Day without it.
I’m new to NXT should I go back and watch every NXT taping or should I just watch the takeovers
i'd say watch the takeovers. but if you wanna watch the weekly shows start in October of 2019 to about February of 2020 that's when it was fantastic
Amazing work as always, such a pleasure to watch every time ! Also, the timing is perfect with the black and gold design coming back now
For obvious reasons, 2020 and 2021 were rough years for the brand, but I would've liked for them to at least try one or two TakeOvers in the thunder dome.
Also who remembers asuka vs Nikki Cross on nxt tv last women standing for the title? Shit was wild
Man, if I could go back and relive this era ... I would 100%! Not saying the new era is 'bad', but nothing can beat prime NXT back in the day.
Agreed.
Yes another great video by superkickstudios
This video truly brought a tear to my eye. Black and Gold was special. But a lot of what made Black and Gold magical is being translated into today's product, so while it hurts that we no longer have that era of NXT, its essence runs deep within the veins of today's WWE, and I'm loving being a fan today.
One memory I'll always cherish was being at NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia. What a show!!!
NXT Takeovers we’re more exciting than the Main Roster PPV’s
The fact that people can stomach todays NXT when this is what we had..
I can't bruh. The roster is green as hell
man i miss black and gold brand, that brand re-ignite my fire for WWE again. their theme slipknot's " all out life " was magical and one lyric screams what NXT is " WE ARE NOT YOUR KIND " that empasize on how different it is from the main roster and how amazing they are
NXT 2.0 is Better for Character Development but NXT Black & Gold was the Best 4 In Ring
That was the major problem. Wwe need and wants characters. Therefore, they were building starts that could not succeed on the main roster.
I got good songs too
@@bryanhoyte1490 There's not really great characters either in 2.0 imo.
@@bryanhoyte1490 Can't argue.
I’m taking mostly about 2018/2019 nxt. Where charcters we’re almost nonexistent. Actually manily 2019.
He honestly should be extremely proud for successfully raising the next generation of talent. I haven’t watched wrestling since 2014(?), but I do pick up some news here and there, and I recognize ALOT of these names/talent. It’s honestly ridiculous.
The 2014-2018 run was undefeated for me. I was watching NXT every week like I was back in 2005 watching Friday night smackdown
2018-19 was probably the best version of NXT my personal favorite was NXT Arrival with Adrian Neville Sami Zayn and Bo Tyler Breeze
Johnny Gargano VS Andrade Cien Almas at Takeover Philly is my favorite match of all time. This was PEAK wrestling imo
Nxt was there for us when RAW and SmackDown dropped the ball. It mostly avoided the stupid sh*t and put the focus back where it belongs - in the ring.
I loved the original nxt it was a comedy mixed with little bit of wrestling
great fucking video couldnt have said it better myself
