I personally viewed Ruby as a gem that is incredibly passionate about the things she loves as well as the things she hates, making her quite emotional when it came to the negative stuff that happened
I think it makes alot of sense to view them as all aspects of hot and cold, like ruby can be an uncontrollable flam, but she's also a warm blanket. sapphire can be a wild blizzard, but also a cool drink!

She feels her feelings with every part of her positive or negative, good or bad, she embraces her emotions no matter what. Some people think that's a bad trait but if you shut down your emotions for the good of others, like sapphire, you'll eventually blow up and hurt people you love. It also makes it harder to comfort you because no one knows what you feel, so no one can comfort you. Ruby is my favorite and I love her sweet but big personality compacted into her tiny form.

They can be passionate with their love, their joy, protecting people they care about, etc. I love how ruby and sapphire balance each other out and how that creates the character garnet!

Ruby's always been the passionate one for me. Sapphire focuses more on being level headed and stopping to think, while Ruby is more passionate and puts all of her effort towards the focus of that passion. But Sapphire can sometimes be too detached from the current situation and emotions of others, and Ruby has trouble with letting her emotions control her and blind her to other issues and people. They level each other out, and have moments where they exhibit other traits and emotions than what's been previously shown.
This is why Garnet is so rounded, both Ruby and Sapphire balance each other out. While yes Ruby's anger and rage is very noticeable in the way she expresses her emotions, so is her happiness and joy. Ruby, when we see her happy, always has a beaming smile and a booming laugh. When we look at Sapphire however, she is much more reserved in regards of showing emotion, rather bottling it up until it spills out. When we see Sapphire happy she usually has a gentle smile and when she laughs its soft and more like a giggle. And even outside of the fusion you can see that Sapphire's presence calms Ruby down while Ruby's presence perks Sapphire up making her show more emotion.
Ngl I kinda feel like I have a personality of Ruby (most likely on-)because we can see her getting angry but still have more emotions but just look like a bit angry but i really like her she got emfrobments in the series and at the movie. She is actually one of my favorite character in Steven Universe. I really like ur drawings
I think you kinda see the two sides of emotions. The side that needs to compartmentalize, maybe even too much, and the side that feels so intensely it sometimes comes out wrong. That's why they balance each other out. They can teach each other of the different ways to feel.
I'm certain that Ruby has a lot of depth to her that is overlooked because we didn't see much of her. Ruby is not about just anger and impulse, she's about "Screw destiny, I do what's right!", she's Garnet's determination and strong will. She saved Sapphire not just from the rebels, she saved Sapphire from her miserable life full of predestination that can't be changed.
Yeah, we didn’t get to see her much, and half the time Garnet unfused during SU, it was because the two were emotional, so it makes sense that some people get the impression that she is just anger and impulsive. It seems from SUF that the two unfuse more and are living more independent lives while also fusing a lot to. We didn’t see much of that either, just a glimpse in “Together Forever”. I do think that was nice though, because it doesn’t just forget about how Ruby wanted to have her own life (whole cowboy arc), she just also didn’t want it to mean she couldn’t also be Garnet. Garnet’s quietness and her bluntness is from Sapphire, but her motivations and her strong will like you said are from Ruby. I just watched SU and SUF for the first time a few days ago, binged watched it for a week, it was fun to watch.
Ruby, Amethyst, and Peridot are my top 3 non-Fusion, non-Diamond Gems. This is because I'm most like them. I like to goof around like Amethyst, I'm more analytical like Peridot, and I'm a bundle of emotion like Ruby.

Ruby and sapphire are basically 2 half characters by design as to not make the fact that they don't exist most of the time a bit easier to go along with. Ruby is the emotional side that's not always rational and has little character growth of her own due to her not showing up for most of it. The reason people see her as the angry one is because she mostly only shows up when they are angry at each other due to a dispute of some sort, bar episode 52 where they were poofed and later in the movie where they got reset, and future where they separated for lil honeworld stuff. Due to the disputes sparking anger and ruby being the emotional side of the brain while sapphire is the cold calculated logical side, it paints an apparently self evident picture of ruby being constantly angry when that's not true, usually she's happy or whatever but we only see the anger due to the entire garnet thing

I love Steven universe and ruby is actually one of my favorite characters, she’s makes very impulsive decisions and is kinda a firey ball of anger but that’s not all that she is which is what I really like about her
I think Ruby is mostly aggressive because she was made to be a guard. If you were an always happy guard you probably wouldn't do so well as w guard. She also gets more emotional than Sapphire because she cares a lot about their fusion as Garnet. In the episode where they go to "The Greatest Diner In the World" she is really overwhelmed by Pearl taking advantage of her and Sapphire. And she gets mad at Sapphire for not seeing it the same way as her. So she isn't just a massive hot-head but a really sweet and protective gem.

Honestly, I think Ruby is more emotionally mature than sapphire. It’s not that Ruby is angry, but that she is passionate, and will process her feelings out loud. Though this means she could blow up, it’s easier to communicate with her because of her openness. On the other hand, Sapphire is calmer, but she often refuses to communicate her issues (until she breaks down) and will demean those who choose to express their feelings, which to me, isn’t mature at all. I haven’t watched the show in awhile so I could be off, but from what I do remember Ruby was never just a blob of anger.

Yeah yeah Ruby is the emotional one while Sapphire is intelligent one. Thinking wise. Ruby thinks with emotions while Sapphire thinks through intelligent like that's their go-to's. That's why garnet seems so calm cool and collected all the time. And that's why Garnet is my favorite character. It's because it shows how you can write a functioning relationship in a character. Basically shows that a relationship doesn't have to be the end goal. It can just be a part of the overall plot. Where was I going with this?

I think Ruby and Sapphire are two sides of the same coin. Not in a bad way, they get upset over different things. They’re both pretty expressive with their anger. Ruby is more of emotions on her face where as Sapphire is emotions via vibe, quieter but loud in energy. Like her turning the motel room into a freezer. Steven still had to deal with both of them pretty much the same way. They rant, get it out their system, and come together when they realize their love for each other is the most important thing, then come with compromises. By being with each other go so long, they learn from each other. No matter how many years.
I have a good show to recommend once you've finished Steven universe, its called Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts and it definitely seems like something you'd enjoy, it has a nice art style and I personally really love it
I feel like sapphire is better at hiding her emotions while ruby is better at controlling them, and i think it has a lot to do with the diamonds expectations, sapphires were the “regal” gem and emotions made them seem lesser while rubies are the “aggressive gem” and need to control their emotions to be seen as “normal”
Also, Ruby is the one who thought about the wedding, and showed to be more an endless ball of energy, rather than a ball of unbridled anger. I think it's just easier for folks who are incredibly passionate to be seen as a constantly angry individual. But that's just sometimes how they showcase things. Also, if I'm not mistaken, Ruby is based on Rebecca Sugar.
It may be an unpopular request but when Sapphire and Ruby fuses again after being reset, I love the mixed up design of garnet and think it'd be fun to draw^^ (plus I like the cotton candy colors)
I enjoy that the duo is written to be the hot and cool dynamic, but in reality ruby just has an easier time expressing her emotions when sapphire often try’s to suppress hers. I think it really shows in ruby rider that the effects they’d had on each other caused them to grow. Ruby made the logical decision to pull away for the sake of her mental health, while Sapphire dropped her all logical facade and showed she could be emotional, worrying about what would happen to ruby.
Maybe at some point do some of the other Rubys that Steven named like... Eyeball or something lol. They had sorts of different personalities and I loved them all.
Ruby and Saphire (as Garnet) very much represent the two halves of the brain, Saphire is calculated, deliberate and, not easily riled up Ruby is passion, id and yes, even anger Ruby is the heart, Saphire is the brain, that's why Garnet is so precise but also a power house and, that's why most of the other Rubys feel one dimensional

It may be an unpopular request but when Sapphire and Ruby fuses again after being reset, I love the mixed up design of garnet and think it'd be fun to draw^^ (plus I like the cotton candy colors)
I enjoy that the duo is written to be the hot and cool dynamic, but in reality ruby just has an easier time expressing her emotions when sapphire often try’s to suppress hers. I think it really shows in ruby rider that the effects they’d had on each other caused them to grow. Ruby made the logical decision to pull away for the sake of her mental health, while Sapphire dropped her all logical facade and showed she could be emotional, worrying about what would happen to ruby.
Maybe at some point do some of the other Rubys that Steven named like... Eyeball or something lol. They had sorts of different personalities and I loved them all.
Ruby and Saphire (as Garnet) very much represent the two halves of the brain, Saphire is calculated, deliberate and, not easily riled up Ruby is passion, id and yes, even anger Ruby is the heart, Saphire is the brain, that's why Garnet is so precise but also a power house and, that's why most of the other Rubys feel one dimensional
