Very cool. Thanks for posting. I really like the Pre-Mix solution for sound. I was thinking of mounting it to the rails or between the cage and battery. Thoughts? Like you, I'd rather have it on the rig than carry it especially when moving quickly to get a moment is at stake.
Dude, I just rented the fs7 for the weekend, with the RAW extension and a V-Mount battery... No Ergorig of course... Honestly, the camera weighs a dead donkey 😂😭 Your video helps me a lot. Thank you for this post and go Lavillenie 😜
Great inspiring in respect to using the MixPre 6 which I have ad powering solutions. Thank_you. .One thing is that you cant get 32 Bit Audio from a Wireless Mic. The weakest link applies here. I run 2 hardwired Cos-11D w adaptors directly into the Mix Pre, to get 32 Bit. And as you do output the stereo out from the SD mixer 6 into the camera as a safety track. Sometimes I use a pico mic as a run and gun solution when there is no choice. But when I record material such as music , with a hight dynamic range , the only solution is using mics with cables.
Thank you, Brennan. if you were going to shoot with something like the Sony AS7 III today, would you? And if yes, how might you configure your setup now in 2021 with a generous budget?
Whtas the name of the remote? I mean where your hands goes on... Does it have a name or does it come with the fs7? And is it possible ti use it on a smaller camera like a A7III or a FX3?
This is a GREAT video. I'm currently invested in a Fujifilm X-T3 + Crane Plus grab-and-go set up. I shoot everything on my current set up from instagram promos to full commercials. However. I've recently been approached to partner on a mini docuseries, and I realized that my set up isn't gonna work for something this extensive. I've rented and shot on Fs5s and 7s before, but never considered owning one until now. I love that you're also a do-it-all kind of shooter, and it makes me feel more confident about taking on this magnitude of a project. Question for you; what do you think of the quality of walking shots with the shoulder rig? I'm used to a mirrorless + gimbal set up where everything is wicked smooth. I'm worried about being able to get smooth walking shots without the use of an Easy Rig. What do you suggest? T
Have you run into any ground loop issue with running multiple things from one V-Mount battery? Any sound issues when powering sound devices and the camera connected to each other?
Hi Brennan! Thank you for this breakdown. The last part of my rig I'm hoping to fix is the EVF rotating issue. I checked out the link you put in the description and that item looks shorter than the one in your video. Is the one you have no longer available? Or is it actually the same one? My other question is how long does that battery last with the mixpre 6 powered on? I'm looking into d-tap battery options as well. Thanks again! Gonna check out your film's IG now :)
May I ask how heavy this rig is? I’m measuring what kind of payload I should be look for if I’m going to upgrade my fluid head for a setup similar to this.
Came here because of your Mondo Duplantis doco! btw, if you ever get the FS7's XDCA back then your FS7 can indeed natively handle a LTC input What is the receiver you have attached to the base of your MixPre6?
Thanks for the comment! Yeah I just never wanted to fork over the cost for the XDCA when I could just use tentacle. That is actually the receiver from the Q5X (the guys who make flexible transmitters for the NBA and other live sports. I’ll talk about in another video how I’m going to mic Mondo while jumping. Unfortunately haven’t gotten to use yet because of quarantine.
@@BrennanRobideaux ooohhhh.... that's why I didn't recognise it! As of course I've heard of Q5X (as I'm a professional sound mixer) but even I haven't seen one of those before in person as they're such a niche item. Did you buy one for yourself just to use on this doco? Yes it is a pity the XDCA is so very expensive, I almost never see it on set. Even though I work with FS7 cameras All. The. Time. Am glad the FX9 has TC I/O built in!
Sound Speed! Same feeling regarding the FX9. Hoping to get my hands on one soon. I’m currently using a demo unit for the Q5X, but really believe in this company and think it could have a future in Track & Field live broadcast. Can’t wait to really put it through some tests.

Much Respect Brennan!Still can’t believe that someone can create such A++ work Solo!
Can’t wait for the final work!!
Hey Manolo You also make a Doc w RedBull and you haven’t saw us anything yet! Hope your Doc willl be fire as well
Thanks Manolo! Was hoping to see you on the circuit this year - perhaps the winter.
Really enjoy the depth on rig breakdowns like this. Thanks for sharing!
Brennon you have done an amazing job!!!
Thanks!
solid setup! thanks for the video

YEWWW!! Been waiting on this, awesome to see the rig! Hi Mondo.
Thanks bro
That's a pretty impressive rig 👍🏼 What has made the biggest improvement besides the ergorig?

Brooo. Awesome video man thanks for the ideas

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. All of this gear is outside my justifiable budget, but the principles are the same.
Hey Brennan, are you still using the BPU batteries? Thanks for sharing your rig!

yeah but where'd you get that jacket?
How is autofocus?

I think Ergorig makes for a more natural handheld look. It’s not gonna replace a gimbal.
Have you run into any ground loop issue with running multiple things from one V-Mount battery? Any sound issues when powering sound devices and the camera connected to each other?
I’ll hear feedback if I got a wireless receiver too close to the low-profile XLR. No other issues when powering
My man. Is this the Mark 1 FS7? Also, Im torn between the FS7 or the C200? Which do you think is best?
Thank you for this! I'm curious- what tripod are you using/do you prefer for this rig? Just got a fs7m2 kit and have to upgrade my tripod next
I use got some manfrotto sticks with a 509HD head. Holds the weight easy, but wish it was smoother. Will eventually get a Sachtler
super helpfull!!! thank you
Thanks for the helpful video, what tripod and head do you use please?
Manfrotto 509HD. Don’t remember the sticks number but they are manfrotto too

I realize that I actually bought the wooden camera EVF nato rail which is longer

Probably right around 28 pounds.
Yo what happened to the original born to fly trailer? I can’t find it anymore
It is currently unlisted but will come back soonish.
