    Non recognized housework; cleaning the gutters, sweeping the chimney, mowing the yard, trimming the bushes, taking out the garbage, blowing the leaves off of the patio, doing the outdoor grilling, gathering and stacking the firewod, taking care of the fireplace or wood stove, snaking the clogged drains, fixing the leaking sink, painting, hanging curtains or shades, hooking up the cable tv's, stereo stystem and bluetooth devices. Just a few off the top of my head. Never a thank you of course. But if she cooks dinner....praise and thanks are expected.

      Yes but the legislative framework that disadvantages and/or destroys men if they don't behave to female expectations remains, so it might be a sort of moral victory but in reality just furthering the material loss, allowing women to retrieve the attractive features of the traditional approach while continuing with the socially destructive features of the more recent developments.

    I’m old enough to remember when most women in Australia quit work when they married (that concept dates me) because they expected to become mothers soon after, and they knew that they could not handle the stress of working and being mothers at the same time. It seems that Swedish women are finally starting to figure out this basic reality. May their tribe increase.

    It took 50 YEARS for women to figure out that work is HARD and undesirable??? They were the smarter ones, the better half, the wise ones... They USED to be, when they let their men do the hard nasty work, and kept him well loved, so he could keep her well supported. Now, after we men adjusted to doing childcare, re-training our bosses to expect we had to take time off for the kids, time off to support our wives, NOW you decide you don't want to do it???
    How do you expect us to BELIEVE ALL WOMEN???

      Because it does not exist. Few swedish women quit work and get supported by their partners. Most of them are probably aiming to be influencers.
      Most swedish men cannot afford having a housewife, and would probably not accept the wife staying home without an income either unless she had a valid reason.

And, since she isn't working, she should keep the household running, keep a clean house and raise any kids. If she wants to be a modern woman, then they should contribute equally to the finances and maintenance of the home. You can't have it both ways.

    To me a house becomes a home with a man and his loyal woman staying home for raising his/their children Keeping it neat cooking good meals making good sandwiches and him being able to count on her good judgement. Any break in that and now it's just a house again! That is what men call a home maker. We don't care as much about decorations as much as the basics that makes a home. Peace and quiet is the goal but with kids that might be tough, and we understand that too! Good luck to all!

      It depends on the intentions of the women. If the women is TRULY wanting to build a home and family, for a long term monogamous relationship with him, then it's good.       No it's not. I know quite alot of couples here in sweden where only one of the persons have a job. Not by choise though, but that doesn't matter. In most of them it's actually the woman working. They don't have alot of money of course, but it's totally possible to live like that.

    Yeah, it's not a trend. Wages are low, taxes are high. If he can afford that, he is substantially wealthy. It's hard to become financially comfortable from just a salary in Sweden.

    Sweden is not the US, the normal thing here is that everybody works, everybody do house chores. And it's not something new like "traditional vs modern", it's been like that longer than USA has existed. The vikings split the chores and the women went to war.

      Yeah it was kind of a different thing when we were farmers and actually had to do that to survive. It's not very long ago though, just some generations back.
      The women go to war part of your text was a bad example.

      False. In Sweden women marched to protect their right to stay home and be mothers. Even the feminists were pro family. Then your government changed the tax system and it became expensive to support a wife. This happened in the 1950s or 60s.

      @@squidandchips My last two girlfriends were exceptional cooks. One of them with skills of a professional cook, since it is her passion.. So they are out there. They are both from eastern europe, maybe that plays into it.

    Inflation will go down in Sweden because of this. Women are very inefficient works which drives up the cost of all things especially physical jobs like construction

    Housework (interior) is not what it used to be. Dishwashers, washers/dryers, vacuum cleaners and even Swiffer mops make it all so much easier. For cooking, Pearl is right. Air Fryers, InstaPots and even (old fashioned) crock pots make it better. They really need to make up their minds.

    My mum had 3 kids , ran a home she had 3 part time jobs and my dad worked as a fireman .
    There is no future in being a soft woman

    Stay at home women, have a choice of what to do when. This "control" of their life, is why women live longer than men. Who live a life of more or less being told what to do and have little control.
