    Thank you for giving me permission to accept reality and stay home when it's too windy. I can now do that guilt-free!

      There does come a time when fly casting just won't work! Hopefully not often, but it does happen.

    Great tips! I love fishing in the wind..up to an extent 😂 The fish love a foam hopper in choppy water. Caught a 6lb bass and 5 smaller ones, a month ago on 3wt fishing for bluegill (and around 30 of them) in steady 15-20 mph wind with gusts to 30, keeping cast low as you demonstrated. I also practice, practice and practice some more whenever it gets windy, that helps immensely! Have a great Memorial weekend MRO staff! God bless those who gave all for our great country. 🇺🇸

    Glad I can help fund great vids like this, even if it's just a small contribution

    Between the how to get started in fly fishing and this video, I've learned enough to make my brain ache but I'm more excited now to get out and toss flies! Thanks for the boost of confidence Brian!

    This is great. I often fish for snook from the beach in S. Florida and sometimes the wind gets the best of me. Very helpful.

    I got a couple 8 wts for my bi-yearly Florida trips. The wind has been a big determining factor. This was definitely a video I needed.

    After watching all your videos and prepping myself, I went fly fishing. It was early May a year ago in north central PA. One thing I didn’t account for or know how to handle, WIND..... I couldn’t figure out how to get the fly through the air. Thanks for another awesome video Brian.

    I like this . Can you show us walking the flats with the wind coming from the right. Sight fishing . I fish in Aruba with minimum 16 mph winds. Trying to target fish while wading with wind pushing you. I don’t have that extra elevated position.

    • @Madriveroutfitters
      @Madriveroutfitters  3 роки тому +1

      Pretty sure he covered this here? Wind from the right, put the rod tip and loop over your left shoulder.

    Is that an echo boost blue rod? What weight and how do you like it Brian?

    • @Madriveroutfitters
      @Madriveroutfitters  3 роки тому

      Pretty sure it was a TFO Axiom II X rod and not an Echo. You'd have to confirm though with Brian. He can be reached at the shop via e-mail or phone.

    Worth remembering. Fish go where the food is. Wind blows insects onto the water, so it makes sense to fish into the wind.

  • @stickhillfarm

    I found that if you can make 1 out of 10 casts in swirly 30 mph winds on the salt, you are a hero caster on 15 mph days.

    Why do you pull out so much line? Personal preference?

    • @Madriveroutfitters
      @Madriveroutfitters  3 роки тому +1

      No, depends on how much line you are looking to shoot. Directly proportionate to the length of cast needed.
