what I love about Del Toro is that in his movies monsters are always designed with such passion that they can be autopsied and described by organs and their functions, that shit makes them look so real like they could really exist irl
The CGI visual efffect in this film does not hold up, let's not glaze. Del Toro has an eye for SFX, it's mostly his oversight getting the most bang for his buck in the practical, not some abstract reason pinned up to the era.
Notice that blade is rude to Scud when he's always trying to protect humans, but he secretly knows that Scud is a familiar, so he doesn't give a shit about him
If Blade had a arc in this movies in Trinity he would become the leader of the Nightstalkers instead of just the angry Wolverine, shit man now i want a movie of Wesley Snipes mentoring new young Nightstalkers
Well it really differs on lore. For kills it’s usually the wood itself that does the trick or destroying the heart which pumps blood to the body kills them a small hole from a bullet easy to heal a stake which basically destroys the heart does it better. In other works the stake just stuns them as again blood pumps through the heart and blood is important to vampires. So halting the heart with a stake also prevents regeneration which stuns them and makes them easier to kill.
@@mysteriousweebx7037Yeah, in some lore the stake in the heart stuns them, so you can easily finish the job by removing the head, which what finally kills the vampire.
Also found this on ithilear blog that discussed it in more detail: "So why the emphasis on wooden stakes, if metal will do the trick? It’s not just wood-it’s the type of wood that counts. Ash, aspen, willow, and juniper are often chosen, though the most common stake of choice is one carved from hawthorn wood. Each type of wood is steeped in folklore that gives it power. In Asia, willow is believed to have power over the dead. Similarly, the ash tree is associated with life, due to its representation of the Norse tree of life, Yggdrasil. Aspen was once believed to be a connection to the other world, making it a choice implement for dispatching a dead creature back to death, while juniper was known as a symbol of protection in medieval England and Scotland. Hawthorn, however, was prevalent and revered through much of Europe. Once used as a charm to ward against witchcraft, it’s not hard to see it make the leap to protecting against vampires. After all, the Portuguese Bruxa is believed to be a witch that can take a vampiric form. Yet even more notably, the hawthorn is a revered religious symbol, believed by many to be the branches from which Christ’s crown of thorns was woven. This lends it a holy power, as well, which makes it all the more effective against vampires." Very interesting
Steaks to the heart works due to the physical trauma the steak does to the heart. Its a big object that likely stalls the regeneration of the heart muscle thus preventing blood flow and so killing the vampire. A bullet of a standard side arm isn't likely going to do much physical trauma due to being usually smaller and or leaving open wounds that blood can still flow from thus allowing regeneration to take place. Although I'm pretty sure larger rounds that can deal enough physical damage to the heart like tearing huge chunks from it likely can kill a vampire. A shot gun at close range likely will do it. as well as larger capacity rounds.
@Quetzalcoatl_Feathered_Serpent the physical trauma from a bullet is far greater than a wooden stake. As the bullet moves through the body a pressure wave forms around jt displacing tissue, rupturing hollow organs, etc. Not to mention the effects of a bullet fragmenting. Source: ex-combat medic

The fact that a pureblood vampire wears an armored neck collar is somewhat funny to me.

Wesley Snipes is simultaneously really cool and utterly hilarious to me
