Matty Shimano should pay you good coin mate. Your reviews are way more comprehensive then their own. Thanks chief.

Question for ya. When you mention Jigging...Say it in such a way that it comes off as it's not the right tool for the job? Curious as to why that is? The Talica is a tank....no arb to fail...minimal ball bearings to corrode.....Rock solid Dogs that bite quickly...Can't wrap my head around why it's a jigger "in a pinch" As it's in the cast aluminum ballpark.....Thank you for everything you do! I don't watch much in terms of other people fishing...but I think I watch everything you've put out....Always epic!

@Tackle Advisors I like the vids you do mate, they are super informative. I too was caught by surprise when he said you could use the speedmaster as a jigger in a pinch. I want to get the 16 for trolling for Mahi, yellowfin, mackerel, basically any pelagic you can find in the subtropical Pacific region of Australia and also use it for a live baiting rod as well, and perhaps a jigging reel. For the money you can't go wrong with them.

@Tackle Advisors Maybe he meant mechanical jigging? Do the job but a bit heavy to do all day...Also such a huge fan of you work too! Who knew you followed our own kiwi Legend Matt Watson! Awesome

Matt was referring to Mechanical Jigging, as there are purpose built reels for jigging like the Shimano ocea jigger.

Do u have a rod recommendation. I’m looking at the 12 for snapper and grouper for 50-200ft. Maybe a talavera heavy?

@Taevon mahi'ailol yup iv seen the old and new saltigas and the torque multiplier reels" they tops and I love them but the price range are abit on the high side" here in sa they go for about 10.000 rand " even the (daiwa) black gold range and the new blue black range are tops but even the old saltist and the torium range are good aswell" all are some of the best casting reels for the typ of rock and surf fishing we do here in sa" but for spool size and drag and retrieve and price the Trinidad reels are all round good" I have the 20 and 30ha amongst all my other reels paird with saltist 3-5 & 5-7 oz they go perfect" good smooth solid reels

Could You tell me how this reel compares with ocea jigger 4000 jigging application and is it possible to use ocea 4000 as live bait fishing reel ?

I regularly fish with a crew jigging bluefin and yellowfin tuna. The Ocea Jigger 4000 is similar in size to Talica 12 and Speedmaster 12. I’ve seen all three of these reels beat tuna over 100-150 lbs. The Ocea is smoother and lighter with a better power handle and better feel for jigging, but also over 2x the price. I also feel the Speedmaster makes for a better live bait reel and light trolling than the Ocea. If you want a solid affordable workhorse reel that can do all three well I’d get the Speedmaster. If you want a higher end jigging hot rod reel and have the $$ I’d get the Ocea. They both have max drag at 40 lbs. also Ocea is Star drag and Speedmaster is lever drag. So many people prefer the lever drag for live bait and light troll.
