    Two things. One, according to the code, you now need to label the generator as a floating neutral (some sort of sticker is fine). Two, a neat trick is instead of removing the wire, you can use a switch to switch it in and out. This lets you go back and forth w/o having to take all the facia stuff off every time. I was thinking of using a locking keyed switch so it couldn't be accidentally "bumped" out of position. Great job, most aren't aware of the reasons when they first buy one of these.

      Yes, I would have added a label, but I don’t plan on keeping it as floating neutral
      You can also use a bonding plug in the 30 amp receptacle

      @@GeneratorReviews Bonded plug is probably the best solution. I do have a question. I noticed the parallel ports are different on this unit and that they match my Westinghouse (Red, Black. and White square plugs). Is this new? Even on Pulsar's webpage they still show the older parallel setup.

    Where was this video a year ago? Lol I have an updated version of the GENMAX GM9000IED the neutral isn’t on the ground bar like the older models it took me months of searching to figure it out. It’s exactly like the one in this video.
    Great video people will appreciate it.

    Hi. I plan to hook this up to my home electrical panel via a 50A inlet so I understand I have to convert my unit to floating neutral per this video.
    At 11:04 of this video you indicate that you can insert a 30 amp plug to use as a bonded neutral. Does that mean if AFTER the conversion to floating neutral, if I am NOT connecting via the house panel, I can run extension cords via the unit without having to undo the conversion done in the video? EXAMPLE: Might lend to friend/neighbor without a 50A inlet connected to their home electrical panel and they just plug extension cords into it.
    Please clarify and provide a link to an appropriate plug if that is the case.
    Great video as usual. Thanks!

    Hi, I bought this inverter, is this necessary to do to connect it to the house (50A intlet) or is it something recommended, I bought this inverter for the 3-year warranty and I don't know if this would affect it

    • @GeneratorReviews

      Yes you have to convert and it won’t affect your warranty

    Fantastic advice great video, what happens if you are using the south wire surge protector prior to the source entering the panel?

    • @GeneratorReviews
      @GeneratorReviews  2 місяці тому +1

      Surge protector will not work on a floating neutral generator

    Thanks for the video and the knowledge we gain.
    What happens if you use a bonded Gen on the house? Also what happens if you use a non-bonded on and RV? Thanks again.

      In most cases, degenerate will not trip when a fault is detected

    The bonding function ought to be external with a simple strap jumper between studs/banana jacks.

    Does this procedure also apply to the 9500?

    Is there any harm in dropping the ground connection in your panel? That way your generator can still be used with extension cords safely?

    • @no1but24
      @no1but24 2 місяці тому

      @@gagebaker2915 you just need to get a bonding plug when using it as a standalone unit you can make one yourself or get one off of Amazon.

      Just get you a bonding plug or you can simply make one.

    Hello Gavin great video as usual here in Canada we are quite a bit more limited. I bought a BE10500IT which is another version of the genmax but it's bonded neutral. It's definitely not built like the pulsar anyway if you come across some information on how to make it floating neutral let me know it seems that arc fault breaker struggle with bonded neutral thanks in advance

    I left mine bonded and connect to house using only the neutral so the bonding in panel remains unchallenged.
