For the casual PRINCE fans. PRINCE would do a sound check for 2 hours. PRINCE would come back and do the actual show for 2 more hours. After the show. PRINCE would find a club and play another two hours to wee hours in the morning. They don't come around often people. Thank God 🙏 you and I were alive to see the greatest musical superstar and performer to ever Walk the planet 🌍. #PRINCE4EVER
To the person who uploaded this live session I want to thank you! I always loved this song but only knew of The Family’s version. I have listened to this so many times and still can’t get enough 🤗❤️ RIP my sweet Prince you are still missed😔
Prince surprised me in life; why am I surprised that he continues to surprise me in death? I sooooooooo love this. His musical prowess is on full display here.
I heard about it in the middle of the day at work and had to take some time to stop and reflect.... And mourn.... We always assumed that we would have the chance to meet him and share how he has inspired us, but that was never to happen and that was the sad part. --My mom--who was a BIG Prince fan--died 7 months later--and that was the even bigger blow that brought the Prince reality home.....
I felt down earlier today until I played this. Now I feel good. This version is so smooth, free, whimsical, effortless...... it transforms your feelings. His music is always healing.
LIFE will not be the same without this man-this creative Power. Listen to his genius speak words of art. I started out in life as a piece of clay and was sculpted into the person I am through years of experience, changes, people, friends, parents, siblings, MUSIC, and growing up in Detroit in the 50's, 60's and 70's my environment. Prince was a part of the mold that created the sculpture of who I became. Now I feel as if the "I" has been chipped away. A sledge hammer has busted a piece from the sculpture of me--broken. Prince leaving this place on Earth has taken a part of me with him.
Perfectly described. I had the fortune of discovering Prince on his first album For You, so I had his music in my ear for 38 years of my 49. Definitely shaped me. I can't imagine what my mindset would be like if I never experienced the artistry of Prince.
I know they are just soundchecking and noodling around. But damn, this is hot. RIP Purple One. And kudos to the Revolution for having the musical skills and willingness/discipline to bring this music to life.
This couldve EASILY been another one of his greatest hits. And yet he decides to give it away...smh Only proves how self "LESS" he truly was. RIP my brother
I love this version but let's not sell "The Family" short! Their version was fantastic! When I first heard it I was captivated by the intro! It just sounded different than anything I had ever heard!
Heavenly! sent to us all...God sent us a reminder. All good comes from God.....Prince was Angelic and sent by God to show us how beautiful he is. Been following Prince since 1978
I am not religious in any way but I think if God had a voice he channeled it through Prince's guitar playing. I got into another world hearing him play.
Since my Army years bro, one of my partners in the Army went to college with him you know you and I picked up the first album in 1978 Prince - For you.
This song resonates in my heart Prince resonates in my soul , He truly was touched with a musical gift but deeper than that he was touched by how to express the music so we can see it and feel each musical note it was and is magical how he can bring that out in us with every moan belt ,hum ,his euphonious dolce falsetto he sings tickles the senses it’s incredible ,I’m so happy to have lived in his reign of purpleness, you are sooo missed!!! A million mistakes and then some.
I've made with the other ones before.
I probably passed my expiration date,
but still I adore you,
Adore you.
I loved that brother.
Miss him dearly.
Another masterpiece. !! This thing called Prince, was not real, neither human. Some sort of angel sent to us from above. I hope when my day will come, I be able to finally meet him and heat him play his magic.
One of my favorites. It's just a soundcheck. Dude could just sweat genius.
When he said "come in with the bass guitar, drop off the chords", I lost it🔥
I actually prefer his version, just because you see how he got it from start to finish.
Nolan Walls Too amazing.
Aisha Staggers ....that is so true
the string arrangement is better on the family version of this son. no where near . but to each his own.
That my be true regarding the strings but then there's everything else like the organ, piano solo, the up front bass and uhm the vocal.
Agreed!!
I'm speechless. I found this by accident and I'm in love, I couldn't wait to get home from work to hear it again.
Playing ACTUAL Instruments SADLY is becoming a LOST art ...🥺
Im SO thankful today for my pops pretty much forcing me to. LEARN playing an Instrument ...lol..🙏🏽
reading music playing in music recitals band at school.. etc...
Makes me appreciate MUSIC & REAL Talent
even MORE
I hope & pray 🙏🏽that he asked God's Forgiveness before he passed ..
r.i.p. to MY Pop's & Prince too
PRINCE WAS THE and STILL IS THE COLDEST!!!!!!!!!!!!! PERIOD.
The Musician of Musicians.
I have chills listening to this... have never heard him sing it... only The Family. (although he's clearly on that track) I've never heard this version. Its so beautiful 💜❤💜💜💜
Wow!!! Even in a sound check, that man was AWESOME!!!
Yeah, much like Bowie in that respect
Fucking loved Family. Neva heard this. Prince shoulda kept this and put these licks on it.Would have been HUGE.
We are blessed with all versions 💜💜💜
You are most welcome!
Right
😢, it’s tears of happiness. I miss Prince.
Put the stuff on MARK!!! Damm it
DeVaughn Currie okaaay?!😂😂
Yesss!!!
I’m sad it’s taken me 35 years to hear this version. Thrilled that there’s still stuff out there for me to discover.
Better late than never!
This makes me feel like floating he was so ethereal ♡♡♡ Beautiful
Yes✨
Yes! :D
James Hetfield .. is this your Jam?
he certainly had a way to get right into our hearts and minds through his music.
Genius. Writing. Composing. Singing. Instrumentality. AMAZING!
I felt down earlier today until I played this. Now I feel good. This version is so smooth, free, whimsical, effortless...... it transforms your feelings. His music is always healing.
@Brian Rodriguez Thanks for nice words. You too.
Wow amen
LIFE will not be the same without this man-this creative Power. Listen to his genius speak words of art.
I started out in life as a piece of clay and was sculpted into the person I am through years of experience, changes, people, friends, parents, siblings, MUSIC, and growing up in Detroit in the 50's, 60's and 70's my environment.
Prince was a part of the mold that created the sculpture of who I became.
Now I feel as if the "I" has been chipped away. A sledge hammer has busted a piece from the sculpture of me--broken.
Prince leaving this place on Earth has taken a part of me with him.
what you wrote is beautiful and touching I agree
Perfectly described. I had the fortune of discovering Prince on his first album For You, so I had his music in my ear for 38 years of my 49. Definitely shaped me. I can't imagine what my mindset would be like if I never experienced the artistry of Prince.
Very nicely put.
That is powerful and I can feel it in my soul. You don’t just make up statements like this.
Man! That was 8 minutes and 55 seconds of pure purple ecstasy!
I truly miss this brother! What a musical genius
Sad truth is how, only through Prince's passing, are we able to unlock the endless treasure trove that is his Vault.
This is so good, I’m grooving hard off of a sound check
So beautiful it hurts.
I know they are just soundchecking and noodling around. But damn, this is hot. RIP Purple One. And kudos to the Revolution for having the musical skills and willingness/discipline to bring this music to life.
"Put the stuff on, Mark!"
:-D
Prince was a perfectionist. Even his sound checks were awesome.
He Was...Without A Doubt....
Baddest Man On The Planet !!!
I'm sorry Guys,
I miss him so much. I'm crying listening to this...I'm going back in time 1984...WOW this hurts..
This couldve EASILY been another one of his greatest hits. And yet he decides to give it away...smh Only proves how self "LESS" he truly was. RIP my brother
I love this version but let's not sell "The Family" short! Their version was fantastic! When I first heard it I was captivated by the intro! It just sounded different than anything I had ever heard!
listening to this drinking a nice glass of red wine, cheers
I freaking love this version!
Me too. i love it i love it i love it
That was the best 8 mins and 55 secs of my life that I've spent in a long time!
If this went on for and hour I would still be listening.
Heavenly! sent to us all...God sent us a reminder. All good comes from God.....Prince was Angelic and sent by God to show us how beautiful he is. Been following Prince since 1978
I am not religious in any way but I think if God had a voice he channeled it through Prince's guitar playing. I got into another world hearing him play.
amen prince was a king
Since my Army years bro, one of my partners in the Army went to college with him you know you and I picked up the first album in 1978 Prince - For you.
So mesmerizing, don’t want it to end
Prince lives on through his music… thanks for this gem!❤
This makes me feel so calm

starrann08 I read your reply just as he said “everybody”. Wow...pure perfection!💜
WE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU PRINCE FOREVER!!!!💜💜☔️🎶🎸🕊️REST IN FUNK💜

I know what you mean... I didn’t even feel as sad when my parents died. I feel like P was such an inspiration in my life. If I’m sad I listen to P, if I’m happy I listen to P and when I’m die, I only want the soundtrack he made for me. He will never b forgotten in my life! 💜💜💜❤️
