- According to the latest Air Quality Index report, Mumbai’s air quality dropped to the very poor category - even worse than once considered most polluted city in India- New Delhi. Mumbai not just beat Delhi to become the most polluted city….it is now the second most polluted city across the world, the report said. As per experts, the air quality deterioration in Mumbai may be attributed to many factors especially dust and smoke emanating from vehicles, roads and construction activities. Add to this, the lower wind speed across the west coast due to La Niña effect has not been able to disperse the pollutants.

The safe limit of PM2.5 is 5ug/m3 and safe limit of AQI is 50. Both PM2.5 and AQI have different STANDARDS according to WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION.
There is nothing called "SATISFACTORY" in the AIR QUALITY INDEX of WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION. The term SATISFACTORY is there only in the INDIAN STANDARDS which is SUB STANDARD. ITS GOOD, MODERATE, UNHEALTHY, VERY UNHEALTHY AND HAZARDOUS.
