Hi Mark, thanks for the video very helpful. I don't have a garden shed/ garden electricity but I have been trying to find out if I can still work outside at my garden table & chairs (whilst the weather's nice). So I'm wondering if I purchase the powerline network adapters and just use a 25m extension cord (that's plugged into a power socket in the house) to reach my garden table and plug the receiver into one of the sockets in the extender - would that work?
Also do you know if powerline network adapters are typically better than wifi boosters? (As I've also been thinking about just plugging in a wifi booster into either the power socket in my house (that's nearest the garden) or into the extender just like my idea with the powerline adapters - but I've got no idea which would be the most effective (of if any of them would work) so any insight into this would be great too,
    Cheers, Liam

Hi mate regarding your TPLink Currys question that will do it yes that also takes the feed and converts it to wireless at the other end so put the receiver as close to your shed as possible and then you can pick up a strong signal. You would need to change the wireless settings on it to match the one in your house. If you just want to extend the wired connection then the £54.99 model PA8010P will do it.If you need anymore info message me on 07764 745242 Cheers

Thank you for doing this video Mark. I have been trying to get the Internet into outbuilding with disappointing results so far:-( . However, this video has given me hope and a few more options to try!! The Netgear WiFi extender I am currently using does sometimes work, but frequently loses connection and works better if I open the double glazed door, but that is not an ideal working setting for me. I am interested in Option 2. So I plan on buying a power line kit and then I am wondering as 1. my Netgear extender has an access point option and Ethernet input too, should I use that to connect to powerline in outbuilding? or 2. As I also have an old Netgear router that I could use, would this be better? But is it simple plug and play using router ? or would I have to mess around with settings? Would this be left in router or modem mode? Sorry to ask so many questions, but you seem to have a good understanding with this and I want to be clear and glean from your insight. Many thanks in advance. 👍🏾

Those powerline adapters are neat, but A: they need to be on the same breaker box, B: They're not great for any kind of heavy use like gaming. So in situations like mine, where i live in an RV, and wanted internet from the main house. It just won't work. Tried running the adapter part of the way, then using other means to extend the network all the way out to the RV, It works, but i take such a heavy mbps hit, makes my gaming experience near impossible.

Hi Paul if you run your ethernet cable directly from your router to the shed all you then need is a wireless access point to open up WiFi in there. The reason I used a powerline was to get the internet to an outside wall (the garage) wall rather than have more cable on the front of the house.Really I should drill a hole and run the cable from router to shed but wife didn't want more cables on the outside 😆

In most cases that's true which I've mentioned on the video not everyone has a separate circuit some people just have extensions,as I said both options cover individual setups.A powerline from the front to the back of the house then a network cable from the powerline to the shed would be the best option for separate circuits although my friend has a separate consumer unit and his devolo powerlines works fine 👍
