Bass riffs so sick you wanna give it free healthcare.
😂😂You win comment of the month.

Darkglass in 2021: "So anyway, here's a whole DAW in a mini pedal that you control with your mind (or MIDI)"
well... Quad Cortex is coming :) Not exactly by Darkglass, but by Doug's Neural DSP
But no effects loop.
Yeah it’s called HX Stomp and it’s lovely ☺️
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@8slimdim8 Would be awesome if someone did a neural capture of the presets.
As usual great demo and playing, mate! Someday hope to see your signature pedal - Darkglass NATHAN aka Nifty Avant-garde Terrific High-end Amplification Nerd, or something like that ;)))
1:21 had my thumb HURTING🤤
Yeah that riff made me subscribe. The groove.
Thanks for checking out my demo of the ADAM!

Nathan would be an amazing addition to the Periphery line up. Just saying.
Underrated comment
2 bass players in the same band could be pretty sick if Darkglass invents a pedal that solves phase cancellation issues lmao
@@ts4gv who is their current bassist?
Nolly left. They use backing tracks live.
@@tetskysenpai8538 Fuuuck really? Alright in that case I concur w/ OP
You really get to appreciate how good his technique is and how clean he’s playing when listening to the stems.
This pedal really helps your playing sound consistent. Does this eerily well. LOVE playing this thing with a pick!
My young boy asks, "What are you listening to?" I didn't reply, kept quiet. Then he says, "That's Navarro guy, I heard that playing". Man your signature play is now known in my household.
I always forget how deep Nathan's voice is.
His voice has more bass than all of his basses combined.
It's criminal that he doesn't have more views
The biggest mindblow to me is Nathan's slight of hand with the pick on the opening riff. If that thing isn't super glued to his hand I can't wrap my brain around it lol
I definitely rewound that to see what the hell he did there. Pretty crafty
Watched it like 10 times in ,25 speed and even skipping frames slowly to see what the hell happened. Thought he edited the video somehow, but he's just incredibly fast. o_o
Absolute INSANITY, he should do magic
500 squids is a lot of cash...
and enough anthrax to kill a small village
I mean I like calamari, but not that much.
It starts sounding insanely massive at 5:35 , have no where near enough money to buy this thing, especially because I need a cab aswell but this is def going on my wishlist hahah
Not really. Since it has cab sim and DI out you can bring just that to any gig that has proper PA support
@@carpediemarts705 kinda. Even guitarists are going this route with stuff like Kemper and Line 6 Helix. It allows you to just plug straight into the board. In the absence of proper PA support you can still buy a powered FRFR speaker like you would find being used as a stage wedge and use that as your speaker.
Nah you can just bring this to a gig and plug into the PA since it has can settings in it I have been doing this for almost a decade using a pod hd500x and it still sounds great. If I have to I have a power amp and PA speaker but pretty much all venues have PA systems
@@carpediemarts705 that's awful nice of you, but I use a GK700RB and 4x10, and I'm not giving it up lol. I do have a concert PA though so you get this pedal just come jam with me lol I'll hook you up
Guys I'm flattered but I am no where near comfortable enough yet with playing to start playing gigs yet, just want to rupture my eardrums at home hahah. Thanks for all the tips though!!
I don't know... Yeah, it's a good pedal. But I think it's overkill.
Anyway Nathan's hat is nice.
Now this looks like a pedal I really want!! Great video nathan!!
@Rob Music The manual states that the balanced outputs will work with unbalanced cables
Some day i hope i can get a damaged one for 80$
received my ADAM today, huge disappointment, presets sound terrible...using Dingwall as well...I also contacted the Darkglass costumer support - and gave them a sound sample, they answered that its supposed to sound like that.. it sounds nothing like the demos - so dont get fooled!
I returned my ADAM, for now I will stick to my X7 which I am very happy with..but I might have to switch to Kemper or Fractal in the future..
in love with the sound of Spector..
Feel you
Dying for this video clip of the Spector. I’ve got a euro4lx and a euro435lx and I’m desperately wanting this to play with
still trying to figure out if this dude is a robot/ai...
I’m a lead guitar player, and this video made me want to play bass again 🤘
Play lead bass
@@fabiansanchez7203 cliff burton lol
gotta say that second tone is tight AF
man those slap on the spector where beastie really love it
it is, such a killer combo
Can it be used for clean sounds with the compressor and cab sim on? Considering do you need separate compressor still if getting this.
Yeah, he does that at 3:20. Notice that the middle foot switch has no light showing (distortion is disabled)
@@Nebvin how the hell did I forget this part by the end of the video. The riff kills haha. Thank you!
I've said this before Nathan is by far the most influential bass player so awesome! Hey I actually picked up this pedal last month because of this video! Keep it up Nathan you are the best man!
4:38
Something about this clip is hilarious to me. Slowly twisting knobs is the complete opposite of what the music makes me want to do.
Not that I’m against knob-tweaking or pedals in general... the juxtaposition present in the clip just made me nose exhale.
That sound at 4:38 was really pretty unusable and horrible but the other tones were cool. I wish this had some of the vintage, Alpha Omega and B3k tones.
IDK why you can't say it feels like an 1176 compressor. So I said it for you here.
I bought this pedal a few days ago and I have to say it really does not offer the range of tones you'd think. Distortion 1-3 sound pretty much the same. There really isn't a lot of 'aggression' at all. The EQ also doesn't do as much as I'd hoped.
Everyone seems to be using lots of different basses in the reviews and I think that's really where the tonal differences are.
Please darkglass!! Please turn this into an amp!!!
You mentioned you had the cab sim on the clean side; are you sure? Nolly suggests this isn’t possible, and this seems backed up by the internal signal chain.
It wasn’t on the clean side, but the “distorted” side had it’s distortion turned off (notice the light on the middle foot switch is off). Compression and cabsim were still enabled on the “distorted” side.
@@Nebvin ohhh, the distortion actually turns off? Interesting that Nolly didn’t demo that! In fact, Nolly actually instructed you have to rotate blend fully counter clockwise? Thank you for pointing this out though, I was thinking of workarounds for an always off IR for cleans. Still, shame to have no IR on the multiband clean.
Sick playing, sick basses, and pretty awesome pedal too!
the first sound with the dingwall is worth 500 to me. i played for 14 years and could never get an overgain well balanced between gainy and clean and chainy. nolly and dark glass nailed this sound imo. also....i can never tell the difference in compression ratios. even listening to you example them here lol. i just don't get it.
Me either mate
Dingwall B string was like a jumprope
It's too bad the pedal can't make you play that well huh
does this come with playing ability too?
Unpopular opinion: I do not like how this pedal sounds and it is too expensive. I’d pick an HX stomp over this any day (and even save some cash)
hey yeah I feel you. I deeply love Nolly and his musical/sound works, but I definitely wouldn't ever buy or use this myself. I'm into metal and whatnot too, but tbh I'm better off with a Sansamp.
@@xRyuzakii I also prefer sansamp. And to be fair, my favourite combination is a vintage microtube into a bass driver, so I do like darkglass. Just not this pedal
I’m also with you. And to be honest I would have loved to hear this pedal in more traditional “groovy” stuff, I mean Nathan is a terrific player, but it’s on entirely different planet from everything I play, even in heavy music’s context.
Every pedal company should really just hire Nathan for their demos lol
Just ordered it! Thanks for the demo
“Waveform lookin plump” I subscribed after that lmao
Technique-wise, Nathan seems to have it all.
killer bassist as always!
why did the second preset demo sound like polyphia
Does anyone know if the compressor in the ADAM negates the need for something like the Hyper Luminal? Or would they both offer different advantages?
I'm not a very big expert, but logically you're speaking about 2 different pedals. ADAM compression made by Nolly with his vision and algorithm and based on the idea to have distorted sound after, while Hyper Luminal is a standalone compressor. So (IMHO) they have different functions, but who can prohibit to try to use them both in a line?:)
Amazing,THAT Dingwall bass!!!!! Use it to play Rip and Tears from Doom Eternal, the videogame!!!!
I love this so much! I’ve always wanted some dark glass swag, but this one sold me.
In the Dingwall clip, where does the pick go when you're slapping? Great demo and as always, incredible playing!
He curls his middle finger around it.
@@carpediemarts705 I can't tell if you are serious or just trolling.
I desperately need to see a comparison between this and the B7K and Alpha Omega :D... I really like the gritty distortion of the first riff here, but I feel the pedal starts to sound very digital in all high-gain examples that followed the second riff. Not that I know if it is some form of digital hybrid or all analog, I just lack any better words to describe it.
I didn't know Tom Brady played bass. Apparently he's the GOAT at that too....
1:20 don't mind me, just making a repeat button for myself
Hé man great demo!
Question here
How does this perform through an actual amplifier and cabinet ? Thats the way i use all my darkglass pedals. The ADAM seems to be a pedal to go directly into the PA or PC
Personally I don't like the pedal, but come on - that's how you do a review! Keep it up, bro
I’m calling it the compressors modelled after the cali76 from the nolly rig rundown
Definitely got that 1176 feel
Everytime i hear and watch you play, i get the feeling you'd be able to crush granite with your bare hands.
Is this a pre amp as well?
This sounded so good! Both 6:55 and 7:58 were my Favorite! But the BASS on that White Bass cause of the dialed in EQ! Wow!
Great review, stepping through the different features and sounds efficiently but not glossing too quickly over any of them.
Wonderful demo, and oh my, your technique is sublime.
Ya this is the one ill be grabbing up soon
*throws money at screen* .... DARKGLASS: that's not enough money ... *throws credit cards at screen* .... DARKGLASS: do you really need two kidneys? *throws a kidney at the screen* DARKGLASS: okay, sonny, here you go. You still won't sound as good as Nate tho. No way.
as soon as i saw Darkglass released this pedal i told myself, "gee, cant wait to see Nathan's vid on this" ... called it lol
Nate's thumb strum drives me wild. Such a useful technique.
imagine periphery having 2 bassists dj00100110nting
Killing me man !! Hit'n them riffs dude 🤟🏼
Hey Nate! Those stems, are they raw DI through the ADAM or was post processing/eq done? Thank you!
Now that's some playing I can listen to all day
que voz tenes es bien grave, buenisimo el video
"This pedal has a lot of value packed into it." (yup. it's super expensive)
He should’ve played some periphery
i feel like the whole pedal selection before the adam was tailored for dingwall basses and the adam sounds like complete crap with dingwalls but really good with fenders, stingrays and spectors
Jeez Nathan, you could read the ingredients on a DR pepper bottle and it would sound like smooth butter.
Great demo Nathan excellent playing as always
That pedal is in good hands
You're good enough to make Victor Wooten cry
that 2nd preset demo tho
What model Bass was the headless one?
Is it an 1176 compressor we can’t name?
It is ok to use that pedal in guitar to make tone fat and round?
Where is the NEURAL DSP Quad Cortex??????!!!!!!! 😳😳😳😳
Not only can Tom Brady when Super Bowls but this man can play a mean mean bass.
Tripple slaps ?? What ??
This pedal sounds amazing but it's way too technical and confusing for me lol
Spector and Dingwall are DG's best friends. The Haz, Tonepump, and Tonecapsule all seem to really come to life with the DG OD's.
Spector and Dingwall are DG's best friends. The Haz, Tonepump, and Tonecapsule all seem to really come to life with the DG OD's.
I just got their Alpha-Omega 900 amp and it CRUSHES.
Excellent break down of compression functions!! No one ever does this. Dark glass for the win.
Great sounding pedal.I use the Hormonic Booster and Vintage Microtubes love em together.Adam is too rich for my budget.
Stellar playing Nathan! My question is how are you palming and re-equipping your pick in those transitions?! Your transition is seamless between finger-style, and picking...
So I am fairly new to this... But these things are only for recording right? I don't think anyone will turn und switch any of these knobs while playing live. For that I would only have 3 presets here?
you are one of the most skilled bassist I ever heard. You should play/battle with Charles Berthoud.
I know you've got immense skills but watching your aggressive slap here makes me think you can easily keep up with or even outdo Ryan Martinie...which is seriously high praise.
I'm a drummer &thats one of f the baddest pedals I've ever seen. but in another life I was a amazing bass player no really I still love watching stuff on bass guitars amps and pedals. But I have a real affinity for bass players, the bass sound an how it is reached. Very nice, certainly express my interest to fellow bass players who haven't heard of this revolutionart pedal...thanks N.N.
I love how everytime the camera cuts out to a new scene your holding a different bass.... cant help but find that humorous haha. Amazing playing that pedal is insane.
Thank you for making this demo using basses other than Dingwalls
What bass is that?
I just bought a micro tubes X7 because the Adam is a little expensive for me but man am I excited to get one of these one days, it seems absolutely mental! Thanks for the Demo Nathan!!!
prolly gonna return my adam soon for that, even a b7k maybe
@@bigfootbass funny enough, I own one of these now! I actually greatly enjoy it and all the great extras they have added make this thing a real treat to use.
@@TreWatsonMusic Oh thats really great to hear! Idk ive just been having second thoughts on the adam with the tone ive been getting but ill stick with it and keep experimenting
Cool to see the waveform change with different compressors applied!
I realize this isn’t really the point of this pedal, but how is it in lower gain settings? It looks like a really versatile high gain pedal, but can it pull comparable microtubes vintage category sounds?
Amazing pedal, only problem is it’s $500 lmao. I don’t got that rn
Nathan oi !!! De todos os darkglass que vc já usou ,qual vc gostou mais . In all darkglass pedals you like more ? Why?
Such a pedal! And super riff!!!
With the ng3 i do not understand where tu f**k you put the pick to alternate with the slap!
I like his videos because
In his review video, starting riffs are killing
