I just picked up a bottle of the 2022 Macallan Classic Cut. I like it a lot - definitely worth the $140. I only buy whisky that I open and start drinking. As soon as I get it home, so I’ll never have a collection like yours, but I do enjoy trying a pour of those rare bottles at a decent whisky bar, whenever I get the chance.
Nice collection 6. If you decide to pull the trigger on a Mac 25, then make sure its the old Remy import. Personally I think its 2 points better than the current release. The one we reviewed is the Remy import. Im constantly in the hunt for older Mac 18 bottles, those are guaranteed to be worth a lot.
Nice one Rob good advise as usual , Man I could kick myself for not picking up a bunch of the ed 1s when they were out, but the classic cut by me is still available. It's like speculating on stocks. It's the thrill of the game when you get stuff at a decent price and it sky rockets. Cheers my friend
Great video Rob, I've been thinking about collecting some Macallan but decided to tilt more towards Glenmorangies and Balvenies however I do have a Macallan Black Rare Cask, thanks for taking us through your Macallan collection!
I was lucky enough to scoop up a bottle of The Macallan 18 vintage 1990 a few years ago in Florida. I bought it for a special occasion but now that I know what it’s worth... I just might hold on a bit longer
Another nice video Rob. I live in PA and we have government run state liquor stores. I went to one and asked if they could get me the #1 edition. The guy took my name and #, about 2 weeks later called and said he had 5 bottles waiting for me at $99 each, wow. Now I have 7 total. I also love the Classic Cut btw.
Snupps is of general use I suppose. I use Whiskybase to keep track of my collection. There are more than 100000 bottlings listed and more than 1 mio. ratings and reviews of bottlings. It's a great tool to keep track of your own rates and to check out ratings of bottles before you buy them. It's made by geeks for geeks and it's free to use. I highly recommend it if you don't know it.
Current Mac bottles 1 each of Edition 1, 1 of 1997 18, 2 of Edition 2, 1 open Gold, 1 open 12, 1 open Classic Cut, 1 open 17 Fine Oak. Ghost bottles (empty) 2 Fine Oak 17 and 1 15, 3 18s. I'm curious of Director's Edition. Cheers brother
I was reading that Macallan is discontinuing the 1824 Series & 1824 collection. Bringing in a new line called "Quest" for travel retail. Also, redesigning their traditional bottle. Oh and the 12 DC is coming out with different age variation and ABV. Could be a rumour. Dont know how true it is.
Awesome. I'm thinking of getting the Classic Cut within the new few months. Picked up a bottle of the 12 Double Cask and although I'm enjoying it, I find it 'thin'/weak at the 40% and a little on the bitter side; not sure why. I was far more impressed with their sherry 12 single cask. However in fairness I think the single cask is easier to drink whereas the double cask is more complex and perhaps for a more saavy palate. Slightly more demanding but more rewarding as Ralfy often says. Great vid man.
Easy. For the (current, and probably only rising) low low price of ~340 GBP (610 CAD)+ shipping. ;) www.scotchwhiskyauctions.com/auctions/search/?q=macallan+edition+no+1&area=&sort=mostrecent&order=asc&perpage=500
Well, Rob Keep up the good work,,,,another fine video....Here in Georgia my whiskeys for collecting live in the dungeon armory along with the guns and ammo...
Buy Macallan as soon as it's released. It never gets cheaper and you can sell it later and buy some really good but undervalued stuff armed with your whisky knowledge.Slanjeevaurus🐢
Rob, great review of starting a whiskey collection of your own. I have a few bottles stored away. The biggest questions has too be... what to buy next and is it worth it :)
Hello Rob, I love Mac just like you do and for my birthday, since I'll be travelling, I want to get myself the Mac Terra (135 cad ) or the Enigma (210 cad). The price difference is not so important for this special occasion, but since I cannot taste them first I'd really like to know what you think of them both. The other Mac I like are the classic cut (the 2018 over the 2017), 12 sherry, number 2 but I did not like the double cask very much (very nice texture, but a bit flat for my taste). Any advice?
Very good video, I have a question, I have a bottle of The Macallan 25 Anniversary Malt Red Box NV, if I want to sell it or put it for auction, how much do you think I could get for it?
I'm thinking of buying my first Macallan, I'm hesitating between the classic cut which is available in Qc or the regular 12 that I'd import from the states. What would you do?
Honestly Macallan has dropped off a lot over the year. The price is also completely unreasonable. I suggest you try Glenallachie or Tamdhu for a similar flavour experience with likely a better quality output and much cheaper.
Rob...which macallan for newbie: classic cut? looking for drink now as well as cost affordable collectible perhaps. cdn150ish perhaps. classic cut? i'm in BC www.bcliquorstores.com/product-catalogue?&search=macallan&sort=consumerRating:desc&size=24&page=1
www.whiskybase.com/whiskies/whisky/78029/macallan-edition-no-1 There was a Wooden Box version for Taiwan as well, Whiskybase seems to think 1500 bottles is the number. The Wooden box version if part of it would be even more.
A good friend bought a bottle for me for Xmas. Wondering if I should even drink it if it’s a collectible bottle. Thanks for the response. Love your vids and am learning a lot.
So it wasn’t at all what I was hoping for. But it was what I was expecting from the reviews I saw. Tasted more like a Johnny Walker Black than a Macallan to me. Very smooth and light.
Two years on, plenty of stellar drams consumed, is there a part of you that thinks back and says to yourself why did I bother with these overpriced/overhyped bottles of Meh?!
Macallan is way overpriced. This includes its core range and all the fancy stuff. It is a marketing animal that basis everything on promoting, packaging and marketing. I think its bubble will burst soon. For an investment, look for the upcoming distills. And the ones that actually offer quality whisky. Not quality packaging.

Ya, would love to see your collection. It's probably insane.
Four years later… I would pay to see a React video of this by Rob and Jeremy for a Rant. Maybe a post rant hangout?
Lol

Totally agree brother. It’s a fun game to play when playing with affordable whisky.
Great video Rob, I've been thinking about collecting some Macallan but decided to tilt more towards Glenmorangies and Balvenies however I do have a Macallan Black Rare Cask, thanks for taking us through your Macallan collection!
That Mac Black Rare Cask is probably worth quite a bit of cash brother. Hang onto that one.

Dang bro:) Awesome collection...i'm jealous! My wife has shut down the malted man cave collection at the moment:(
Lol I know what that is like. Hang in there brother.
Nice collection you're building there Rob. Keep it up. Good luck in your future hunts.
Jerico Jumawan thanks buddy. Hoping to find a Exceptional Cask at retail.

Probably to a certain degree. WhiskyBase is just such a great tool for any whisky fan.

Another great one! I need to organize my Snupps a little better.

Time will tell but not a bad idea to stock up on some 1884 stuff.
Great collection Rob! I like the way you think.

Robert Horovitz the American version of the Double Cask is way way way better. Buy that south of the boarder if you can.
Crazy what the Edition No. 1 is going for. Wish I had picked up more than one bottle!
JA M wish I was able to find a couple more.

Good stuff, Rob! Even I have one or two of these, but this video certifies that you're in fanboy territory...
lol ya admittedly. Although I've been really liking peated whisky lately.
Welcome to The Dark Side [TM]
Well, Rob Keep up the good work,,,,another fine video....Here in Georgia my whiskeys for collecting live in the dungeon armory along with the guns and ammo...
Very good place for them. I’d do the same if I owned any. Keep telling my dad to do that but he wants the space for his guns.

Rob, great review of starting a whiskey collection of your own. I have a few bottles stored away. The biggest questions has too be... what to buy next and is it worth it :)
I’m just focusing on whiskies that are priced fair. Limited bottles for bigger companies. That’s the best formula for investing.
Where the hell do u store all your scotch l got no where to store my scotch!!??😜😜😜😂😂😂😂😂😂

@@WhiskyInThe6 Thanks the Enigma is 1% higher, so I am not shure I will detect that difference... sláinte :)
+jeansebastien hamel that’s true
Rob, I try to collect Macallan but I just end up opening most of the bottles because it's just too delicious lol
That’s why I try to buy two of each lol.
@@WhiskyInThe6 Buy three. 1 to drink, 1 to trade, 1 to keep. ;)

Sounds like it would be worth a lot. Probably 4k or more US.
@@WhiskyInThe6 thanks a lot for your answer
Macallan 12 Sherry Oak is available in Europe as well.
All parts?
Whisky In The 6 Can’t say. Denmark and Germany at least.
You get them in Norway as vell .

I'm thinking of buying my first Macallan, I'm hesitating between the classic cut which is available in Qc or the regular 12 that I'd import from the states. What would you do?
Classic Cut is a beauty. Macallan 12 is easy to start with though.
Yeah, I'm sucker for a good cask strenght dram but I've been eyeing that 12 since the Scotch Test Dummies did the top 5 12 year a while ago.
Two bottles of Glendronach 18 stashed away; me too.
Where did you find The Ruby? I've always wanted to try that one!
Know a guy actually selling one. Where you located?
300 euro in Germany right now.
Is macallan better than the master of blender?

@@WhiskyInThe6 thank you...keep well all the best for 2022
Where did the rare cask go, Rob?
Traded it.
nice collection Rob! what's better in your opinion, Macallan Ruby or Macallan Rare Cask? They both are around the same price where I live.
Ruby is discontinued, if you want for collection, Id go with Ruby.
Personally I like the Ruby better and it’s worth more than the Rare Cask.
edition 2 VS classic cut with one is better to collect because I only can afford on one bottle lol
Lol I hear you
Wow... beautiful...
