Right? I mean, this is exactly what we all want when we look up these kinds of videos. So many of them are too fancy and detailed with the tech or total trash and just show side by side gameplay with graphs that aren’t useful. This format is absolutely perfect.
You legend, I literally was searching to help my friend and boom you release this. Now to send him this vid and hope he can optimise his settings for a better gameplay experience.
I was literally asking this guy on discord how to best optimise and then he sent me this video and then I watched this video and now i'm playing teh game greatly.

In case you want the PC to become quieter you'll have to limit the frame rate after the optimization. Otherwise it will just churn out more images and the noise will be the same. A better way is undervolting and limiting your GPU and CPU.
FUN FACT! The game Engine was the same they used for Helldivers 1 and is currently a discontinued Old Engine. I can understand why they laid off so many people across ALL their studios no matter the success of their games. They are simply OVER expending at this point. Arrowhead Studios is definitely a role model for how they should approach game development.
Man, I always look for the best way to optimize a game and not lose graphic quality. And a huge majority of channels just tells you what to use and don't really show a reason for it other than the FPS. But you actually show EACH and every setting and even explains what they do and show in game examples. Like holy shit!!! @@maldosogamer yeah because the TAA in this game sucks really bad, TAA is not consistent at all because it varies from game to game since it's a *type* of anti-aliasing and not a very specific thing like SMAA is. It's just a ReShade preset, so it's not particularly good AA, the options that work don't use the depth buffer so menus will get AA'd too and it just looks like someone wiped butter over your screen.
9:41 I'd suggest turning volumetric fog on HIGH, even if you have a Nvidia 1000 series, the fog makes huge differences on visibility. Visibility on LOW is just terrible. Especially places with mushroom clouds, you NEED that vision.
You can actually see that in the wind turbine comparison if you pause it, high and ultra are a much smoother fog allowing mire detail to show through it. Low is more of the classic white blanket fog. Ty for the comment!

I tried to land on a random planet and do some screens to compare, but as the weather and daytime change realtime it's hard to have two identicals screens with just the setting moving As high eat up a little amount of FPS, I'd like to be sure it's worth it :)
This is nice but for the end benchmarks I think you should also include a comparison to low preset to see how many frames would/wouldn't be lost going from low to optimized settings. As much as I hate AA, turning it on was the only way to get particle effects to not look pixelated even if I cranked it up to ultra. Thanks for the video, great stuff
One Major thing I'd like to point out. If you look at the CPU usage during Native,SuperSampling, and Ultra SS. CPU usage decreases by a substantial amount using SS and USS, but will increase when using Native, Ultra Quality, and Quality upscaler. People experiencing CPU Bottlenecks should drop from 1440p to 1080p and use SuperSampling. Avoid the in-game FPS limiter and use a 3rd party until fixed. (Riva, NCP, AMD, etc)
But what If I'm already at 1080p and want to use SS to avoid cpu bottleneck? Yeah it's lowered my cpu usage, but performance reduction is really noticeable (from 60-70 fps to around 40)
Great video, definitely helped me decide to turn down Shadows, Particles, clouds, and Space Quality to gain some frames. I figured out pretty early that Render Quality really needs to be set to Native to make the game look much better.
The super sampling in this game is fantastic. I've got an old plasma tv setup next to the computer monitor. It's native resolution is 768p with 75hz refresh rate. Using Ultra super sampling looks magnificent with the highest graphics settings. It nets me around 45fps-60fps but you can feel the game have hitching and latency issues with this setting. Using the regular super sampling setting looks slightly worse then ultra, but gets me a consistent 75fps and no hitching or latency issues. I've shown this game on this screen to a few friends and everyone is assuming at minimum I'm running at 1080p or higher. You honestly can't tell it's 768p. I had no intentions of using this screen for games, when I put it in my computer room. But Hell divers has gotten me experimenting with AMD's VSR in other games and so far I'm super impressed with what's capable with the super sampling features. Really improves the image quality. My pc specs: Ryzen 5 7600, 32gb ddr5 600mhz, rx6750xt, NVME ssd
Thanks for the optimized settings! Bumped my average FPS from around 54 to 85 on the ship. System has a 1080ti in it, so I'm really fighting for every frame at this point in history.
Ok, so just tried this on a RX 6600 + R5 5500 build, getting around 55-63 FPS average depending on Planet. I was playing on Medium Settings at 53 FPS avg before so this is quite an improvement, looks better too. Uploaded a full gameplay with these settings, THANK YOU!! :)
