iconic 80s fill bro - they mixed it so good
Another cracking fill, great work Mike
Brilliant, as always.
Listening to Tony Thompson play with Chic in the 70s you can hear that this was a high caliber drummer. Of course, his playing on the Power Station just solidified his status as one of the premier drummers of his time. Unfortunately, he died in 2003, but his drumming lives on!!! Excellent video Mike always a pleasure watching you work!!! Cheers mate!!! 😄
Thank you so much for all of your help and effort, guys like you are a god send! Please never stop helping us👌
OMG! A song from back in my days. I can't wait to get back into drumming after a year of an elbow issue. I imagine the rust will be heavy
Tony is a HUGE influence on me, I love the Chic stuff as well as his studio drumming. Speaking of Power Staton, a good one to look at is "Murderess" from the same album. Plenty of Tony's flourishes throughout.
Hi there! I'm just getting started with lessons and learning and your videos are super helpful with breaking things down. One question I have is if you can share some content on what materials you'd recommend for new drummers? I want to learn theory and there are so many options out there so wondering if you have any recommendations for workbooks for beginners and such. Thank you!
Thanks for watching. Beginners' playlist of videos here: ua-cam.com/play/PLcfoni8UPb9pMuQTX9H1rbKnFCW7x7xXD.html&feature=shared
Really recommend these books: ua-cam.com/video/FfsO8qlHW0M/v-deo.html&pp=ygUkbWlrZSBiYXJuZXMgZHJ1bSBiZXN0IGJlZ2lubmVyIGJvb2tz
And hugely recommend following a graded course from the beginning: ua-cam.com/video/1AX1BeFjKrU/v-deo.html&pp=ygUcbWlrZSBiYXJuZXMgZHJ1bSBkcnVtIGdyYWRlcw%3D%3D
I'd also recommend following the advice of an experienced teacher and/or becoming a channel member at www.buymeacoffee.com/mikebarnesdrums - for a personalised practice plan, access to Zoom/face-to-face sessions, ongoing drum support etc.
