    Star Wars: Shatterpoint Key Features
    ● Customize: Create a Star Wars squad that is truly unique with beautifully sculpted and dynamic miniatures of identifiable Star Wars characters that are ideal for dedicated hobbyists and new painters alike.
    ● Strategize: The Shatterpoint game’s fun and flexible squad-building experience invites players to create custom strike teams optimized to complete the various mission objectives. Players can choose thematic squads straight from the Star Wars galaxy, like Ahsoka TanoTM and Bo-Katan KryzeTM, Lord MaulTM and his loyalist super commandos, or mix and match their favorite characters to form the custom squads they want to play.
    ● Battle: In the Shatterpoint game, players use their characters' special abilities and diverse combat skills to control the flow of battle as they race against each other to complete dynamically evolving mission objectives.
    “The design and development of the Star Wars: Shatterpoint miniatures game is really our love letter to the excitement and energy of being a kid on Saturday mornings,” said Will Shick, director of product development at AMG. “We wanted to take all the great things about Star Wars-the action, the adventure, and the iconic characters-to create a Star Wars miniatures game experience that felt like it had come straight out of the animated lineups of the ’80s and ’90s. To say it was a dream come true to work with such a talented group of artists, sculptors, and our awesome team at Lucasfilm to create new versions of the iconic Star Wars cast in this style would be a complete understatement.”
    The Star Wars: Shatterpoint game is developed by Atomic Mass Games in collaboration with Lucasfilm and published by Asmodee.

    I really hope the AMG staff watch and pay attention to this video. Great overall commentary.

    My biggest worry is that AMG has trapped itself in the goal of 'more sales'. By allowing cross-faction (only limiting on era) selections as more models are released, the interactions multiply hugely, with minimal restraint. In the same vein, we clearly have a disparity in model power (Jango, Rex, Kalani, Obi2). The result is that to be competitive and thematic is increasingly problematic. I feel this may hurt the game long term as really a major draw of Star Wars is the 'factions fluff' and Shatterpoint simply does not reflect it.

    Happy to see more shatterpoint videos love hearing both of your reviews for squad packs and game health. Love to see some more breakdowns like taking characters and showing where they can fit in, or maybe going over strategies and characters that will perform better for each mission pack since we have 3 now

    Great recap!
    I agree the current design space of squad points and force points is too restrictive. As discussed there are a number of ways they could address this. If they don't I feel like the game will lose momentum as some of people's favorite characters or squad ideas won't be viable enough to play or too many units will feel too similar when they really should be quite distinct.

    As someone who got into Shatterpoint recently and I am loving it. The biggest issue is needing the core box. I have no interest in the models in the core box but I need to buy it to get the tokens and all the cards. Would be great if there was a way to buy these things separately.😊

      I really wish the Shatterpoint card came in the measurement tools/dice or maybe even one with each character pack.

      Plenty of 3rd party providers for tokens. They will never sell tokens separately as there is no financial reason to do so. You can also pick up dice and movement/range tools, but to be honest, once you’ve done buying it all separately, you realise that the core box is only £10 more and you get 8 minis and loads of terrain.

      Star Wars Legion eventually released an Essentials kit which had most of the auxiliary items needed to play a game with. Something similar could help new players to buy into the system and allow them to pick and choose which character packs to purchase. Sure the value of the core box is not to be understated, but "paying" for models that you aren't excited about using can discourage new players from entering the game.

    Starting to get more into the game. I wish marvel had this playstyle cuz the tech tree seems much more doable than the wild rolls i need in mcp and can never get

    It looks like LVO in this coming January will sell out at 64, and NOVA Open this September is at its 32 player cap

      We’ve had 32 player + events for Shatterpoint in the UK. I’m really taking about the 100 player plus weekend events as the ‘big events’

    Instead of releasing separate miniature packs, they could just release updated card packs like in MCP.
    Also, can anyone help me where to find the "and" and "and then" rulings being the same?

    • @RichMidGaming
      @RichMidGaming  2 місяці тому +1

      It was on the forums. All ‘abilities’ have to be completed in the order of writing. So when it says ‘dash and heal’ you have to dash first, then heal.
      There are some slight differences, ‘and then’ requires that the first part of the text is complete. So ‘dash and then make a 5 dice attack’, means if you can’t dash (say you’re pinned), then you can’t move to the second part.
      Generally they are just very bad English, but once you know the rules it’s fairly easy to work out!

      @@RichMidGaming Thanks man, so following that ruling for Obi Wan's Run, if there is nothing to heal then the Obi 1 or the chosen unit, cannot reposition right?

    • @Downvotingpeople
      @Downvotingpeople Місяць тому

      @@theeggdeliverysystem306 No, since a recover action without any damage or conditions to remove doesn't fail, it just has no effect. It also doesn't say recover and then reposition, it just requires the recover to be before the reposition.

    The 2 things I would like to see change in general in the game are : Terrain cover (make it more logical as to what terrain provides cover when regarding height/elevation) and Card Text (stop using “characters in this unit”, simplify the wording, so many abilities can be resumed to a simple small sentence but are 2-3 sentences now)

    • @RichMidGaming
      @RichMidGaming  2 місяці тому +2

      not sure 'characters in this unit' is a great example, especially when there are multi character units

    • @RemisRandR
      @RemisRandR 2 місяці тому +2

      @@RichMidGamingusing it when it’s appropriate is an option, but using it everywhere is the problem IMO. We don’t play the game nearly as much as you guys do, so I’m constantly having to rephrase abilities to my friends because they get lost in the text. Why say “a character in this unit” for a named character that is alone in his unit?

    Im looking forward to the story/asymmetrical scenarios Will mentioned recently at interview on Goonhammer.
    Some rules clarifications would be helpful:
    > for shoves (sliding bases is awkward to see if they get stop by things next to them (people trip over stuff so its weird they benefit from hitting stuff), same with followup, cant move over a friendly base to do so);
    > cover (completely hidden when someone is higher could be more wysiwyg than the current abstraction),
    > and think we can all agree we have some meta going on that makes many clones uncompetitive (Obi and hunkers helps a lot but agreed if your being defensive (taken a hunker) it shouldn't be lost so easily. What if you also got an automatic Special defence result as well as an extra dice? Spending to stop a shove is a good idea)
    I hope in the future we get new scenarios that come with a terrain pack that supports it like legion has done with hostages, bomb carriages etc.
    I wouldn't mind seeing a rule that you can only climb 1 level difference without a ladder - those rare level 2 platforms in games should feel more defensible than they are now and to help my suspense of disbelief. Or maybe if you climb up into a melee your opponent gets an extra defensive dice. Only climb not jump.

    Theydo seem to have mostly controlled power creep.
    They can make disney sequel trilogy stuff, but I would never buy or play it regardless if they make it overpowered. Great way to lose money.
