Ahh! I love this video. I usually listen to you guys while I do my accountant work (you gotta spice that up🤣), but this was too good. Imma going to have to come back to this with my full attention. Love it. 😁
I feel like there was at least one game on each shelf that I need to add to my board game research list! So many great opportunities! I loved this video
We approached this as a mix of favorite games mixed with a rounded collection. So going in the same order you guys went my gf and I would've kept Suburbia, Honey Buzz, Spirit Island, Empires of the North, Wingspan (big choice there lol), Isle of Cats, Horrified, Welcome To, Rococo (assuming we're not counting D&D otherwise that wins), Night Cage (perfect for a more rounded collection), Boon Lake, Space Base, Hallertau, Castles of Tuscany (foreshadowing), Flamecraft, Ark Nova, Tidal Blades, Abyss, Rajas of the Ganges, Furnace, Clank (because this is what you have now and the assumption is no more games showing up before you're on that deserted Island so no Catacombs), Scythe, Pandemic, Thunder Road, Viscounts, Cobble and Fog (even by itself), Le Havre, Cascadia, Skull King, Arnak (even if you tried to hide it lol), Journeys in Middle Earth (gotta get a LOTR fix), Hanamikoji (we haven't played high society), Get On Board, Orleans, Endeavor, Stop Thief, Glenmore 2, Red Cathedral, Tekhenu, Parks (we got our Shem already thankfully), Destinies (hence why we didn't take it earlier but did take OG Horrified), Duelosaur Island, Funfair (we love this so much), Chronicles of Crime 2400 from that group of 3 (already got a T game thankfully), Quacks (narrowly), wine...I mean Viticulture, Castles of Burgundy (there's that foreshadowing), Yokohama, Bloody Inn (so gooood), Grand Austria Hotel, Kanagawa, Aliens (sorry but anything Aliens wins), The Others (hence why we took Chronicles 2400 earlier), Project L, Crew Deep Sea, and Marvel Legendary at the end for a deck builder. From our own shelves (much fewer lol) we wound up with Funfair, Architects of the West Kingdom, Get On Board, Welcome To, Riverside, Floriferous, Gloom, Village Green, Skull King, Meadow, Cascadia, Tokeido, Lanterns (you can play with us Nick), Istanbul Big Box (barely beat Five Tribes), Vengeance Roll & Fight, Rajas of the Ganges, Hallertau, Viticulture (this beat out Burgundy by a bloody inch), Praga, Pipeline (took this over Brass and GWT), Bloody Inn (sorry Arkham LCG), Santa Monica (sorry Quacks), TM Ares Expedition, Project L, Carcassonne (new anniversary box), Flamecraft, Red Cathedral (barely beat Azul Stained Glass), COC 2400 (knocked out Destinies for the app winner), Abyss, Ticket to Ride Europe, Pandemic Iberia, Summoner Wars 2nd edition, Mansions of Madess (this killed me as it took out Star Wars Rebellion and I breath Star Wars), Ark Nova (beat out Arnak), Glenmore 2, Nemesis, and Suburbia as it's on top of a shelf alone (big anniversary box). I died a little with some of the choices made.
First of all, y’all are legends for going through the video and making your own choices for the shelves. Epic. And we agree with your choices well done! Love your shelves as well! Definitely had to make some tough tough choices but great collection you have and we do seem to have similar tastes aka the best tastes so yay!
That was an emotional Rollercoaster! The hardest part for me was both GWTs still sitting there after picking. So jealous of all these new games on your shelves!
No GWT!?!?!😱 I couldn’t believe it. Some of the pics I guessed right away. I was surprised that you didn’t choose Feast for Odin too. I also love how Nick says he’s choosing in Mikes favor to make Mike feel bad😂 classic brother banter. Great challenge! Oh and who loss the coin toss to put all those games back?
Part of me really wants to do that. Like really get for reals about the games you want to keep and play and keep things lean and mean. I mean we do this for a job so I think there's more of an argument we can make (or convince ourselves of) for keeping a wide variety of games like that but if it was just me and I was just doing this as a hobby, I'd love to keep that collection size way down.
Hey guys I loved this video and really loved Jenna's too! Would still like to see your favourites from A-Z revisited, or maybe something like 1 roll and write, or 1 game of a particular theme or mechanism? You guys always bring the joy :)
No love for Praise Be, Phil Walker Harding!? I thought for sure that Cacao would get the nod over Pagoda, but excellent choices all over the shelves! Love the content - keep ‘em coming.
That’s a great collection!! The great thing with so many great games being out there is that I could be happy with so many subsets of collections for forever.z
I really enjoyed the video - along with my own little mini game of trying to use my BM knowledge skills to guess which game you’d pick for each selection 😅
I'm so happy to see that **It's a Wonderful World** is hitting for you both! I've been recommending it ever since Nick first mentioned wanting that small satisfying engine builder a few years back.
On the second shelf, Rajas would have edged out Honey Buzz for me. I love Rajas. Of the ones I haven't played on that shelf, Honey Buzz looks the most interesting. This isn't the only time something that I haven't played would edge out some solid games. A lot of these shelves are just games I've never played. I thought about watching again and playing along with you, but that would have been one long frelling post.
Oh, this is why everyone uses Kallax shelves. Only have to eliminate 2 or 3 games per shelve. My shelf of Hanabi sized games would be a real challenge though, probably 30+ games on that one.
@@TheBrothersMurph Just counted and there were 60 games. There is no way I would give up Comic Hunters though. Not sure why I have it on that shelf, I need to reorganize.
I call fries that are stuck together a "king fry". I just realized I have my Quacks and Kanban EV on the same shelf. Looks like I need to move one of those to a different shelf.
You passing on power grid genuinely hurt my soul... 💔 Thoroughly enjoyed this video... Woke the kids up screaming at the screen though.. thanks a lot 😑😂
Loved that. I hope you do it again in a year or 2 to see what might change. Only thing I would have picked instead was GWT. Otherwise I largely agree. Great stuff.
@@TheBrothersMurph lol, to be fair, it is a prototype and the board is in Chinese. It's still totally playable though and it's a weird economic game, so y'all should try it at some point.
I think you need a follow up episode where you talk about what might be missing from your collection with those choices? Mechanic? Theme? Player count? Complexity level?... Then talk about a game that could fill that need. Also, I want to point out that if I did this challenge it would hurt more because my shelves are larger, and almost all my small box games are on one shelf, which would stink!
Haha that's the problem with those small games you stuff so many on one shelf! And love the idea of really trying to round out a collection with filling in "missing" elements. Logging that away for a future video for sure!
Love this approach over top 10's. Would be interesting to see the next level of this. Out of the pile you have there, What would you trim down for the short shelf, which one would be a display and which one would you play next?
@@TheBrothersMurph Displays to me are always the - "I wish I had more time games." ie War of the ring. Super awesome and wont remove but I'm not playing it every-week.

But wait, they DO look like shorts! Or is that a big hole in the knee, but only on one leg? It's not much of a tasteful rip in the jeans, it more looks like you took a box cutter to it and made a big slice. It's probably that...... Fun challenge! Though I have my 200+ games on only 12 shelves, so... it would at least be a short list. But just got Castell (mostly due to your guys' glowing praise), so it would get to stay by default for not yet being on a shelf? Right?

That’s a great question! I don’t see that happening anytime soon at least on the art front as the game has done quite well for itself but I can absolutely see a day in the future where they do a big box anniversary release where they include all expansions and stuff. Maybe at the 10 year mark?
Draftasours I love. Honey buzz does look fun. Forgotten waters want so bad. Do like ticket ride games. Empires north interested in. Love Wingspan. Just got isle of cats. Rhino Hero is great. Want horrified and calico. Marvel United rocks.
With a collection that's being culled hardcore to keep it's size - it hurts when you skip over one I own :) But also surprisingly many of mine are being chosen. Gotta drop by for a game sometime :D PS: Not picking Forgotten Waters is a crime and you're both going to bg jail!
King Dimono origins want to play and terracotta Army. Wreak Raiders want get soon. Interested in underwater cities. Space base want to play. Codenames duet love.
@@TheBrothersMurph it’s probably my favorite deduction game. And it has staying power. We pull it out every couple months and everyone mentions how great it is. That’s a great question! I don’t see that happening anytime soon at least on the art front as the game has done quite well for itself but I can absolutely see a day in the future where they do a big box anniversary release where they include all expansions and stuff. Maybe at the 10 year mark?
How dare you not choose [insert favorite game name here]!!! Worst video ever. 0/10.
Jkjk great video. This was such a fun concept I loved it.
Haha if I did this I would have less than 10 games total. Out of about 80.
That'd be brutal
This would be so hard to do
it's rough
Where did you find that Meepleton shirt? I need it!
A buddy of ours made it :) hoping he sells them one day!
How many games do you even own? The games you would keep are still way more than my entire collection... (to be fair I'm just getting started)
We have around 300 I think in total? IDK too many probably haha
Draftasours I love. Honey buzz does look fun.
Forgotten waters want so bad. Do like ticket ride games.
Empires north interested in. Love Wingspan. Just got isle of cats.
Rhino Hero is great. Want horrified and calico.
Marvel United rocks.
I had a hard time watching you pass on circadians first light
We had to make so many tough decisions
With a collection that's being culled hardcore to keep it's size - it hurts when you skip over one I own :) But also surprisingly many of mine are being chosen. Gotta drop by for a game sometime :D
PS: Not picking Forgotten Waters is a crime and you're both going to bg jail!
Does bg jail at least have board games to play? Even just a deck of cards. YA GOTTA GIVE US SOMETHING IN THERE!
@@TheBrothersMurph They have Monopoly McDonald's edition with half the houses missing and too little money.
GET MORE SHELVES!!!! 😂 😂 😂
This right here!
King Dimono origins want to play and terracotta Army.
Wreak Raiders want get soon. Interested in underwater cities.
Space base want to play.
Codenames duet love.
No D&D?!?! Clearly I failed you, lol.
That was a rough one! like dang there that went I guess
@@TheBrothersMurph 🤣
Fun video. Wait till you play The Search for Planet X. 😂
We finally did! literally later the same day we made this video. It's AWESOME!
@@TheBrothersMurph it’s probably my favorite deduction game. And it has staying power. We pull it out every couple months and everyone mentions how great it is. We like that you can adjust the difficulty rating which makes it nice to introduce beginners. I do not think it got the buzz it deserves. Looking forward to your review/play through.
Here’s the thing. Haha.
As someone who lives local to Stratford ON, I am all for you keeping Justin Bieber! LOL
yaaaassssss
What was the game that won over the 7 Wonders Duel?
It's a game called Project L
@@TheBrothersMurph Oh thanks so much! Just looked it up and found it in my local board game shop (only 3 left) looks very interesting (and 7 wonders duel is our favorite game...we'lll see). Thanks again and this was such a good video, you two vere torn apart like choosing favorite kid.
Where did you guys get these selves from? Are they the IKEA Billy shelves?
Yes they indeed are
How do you rank the West Kingdom series?
ua-cam.com/video/DktiQlAGEis/v-deo.html blam there ya go
Y'all try War Chest yet?!
Yes indeed Mike actually just tried it this past week! Really interesting game
What about the games you didnt pick? What is gonna happen to them?
Incineration
Phew good thing the Biebs got picked or I would've had to unsubscribe
Favorite part was the shining endorsement by Mike "Man, that's a playable game"
I hope I can design a game one day that has that review on it's cover
The best endorsement of them all!
Anyone else yelling at their screens? THE MIND??????
Best pick I’m convinced!
@@TheBrothersMurph BIEBS! It was a MUST.
@@TheBrothersMurph I was yelling "The Mind!" and they heard me - yay!
Decorum>Paint the Roses fight me 😂
