    Just sharing some info, Manuka honey predominantly comes from the Manuka plants which grows in New Zealand.. the plant itself does have great properties but the bees pollinating this plant and producing honey from it makes it that much better. There’s an active ratio of how much Manuka is present in the honey and the more the ratio the more expensive the honey becomes.. you can substitute Manuka honey with organic honey which will have similar properties. I also would prefer to buy Manuka Honey imported from NZL because their industry is very strict and you’re likely to get a very good product.

    I just tried this recipe. I used Distilled water at 70% and Aloe Vera Juice at 30%. I didn't have the surfactant paste so I used Coco Betaine and AOS 40. Those were my only deviations. This is my very first time trying to make shampoo. This recipe was easy to do and the lather was very soft and fluffy. Thanks for your inspiration Sis! 💋

    Hair products can be anywhere from 3 to 7 ph. That's what I read. We are very acidic and I thought it's best if the products are closer to 4.

    • @YayaDIYCreations
      @YayaDIYCreations  10 місяців тому +1

      Hi. Most mild shampoos range from 6 to 7. Especially baby shampoos or “tear free” shampoos. If you wish for the pH to be at a 4, you can definitely lower it to a 4. However, make sure that falls within the range of whatever preservative you are using. Some ingredients can also be ph sensitive, so make sure you check the entire formula. In most cases, I believe formulators try to fall within the range of 4.5 to 5.5 for skin care and hair care products, but some ingredients calls for the range to be even lower or higher. For instance, some polymers or gelling agents need to be around 6 in order to stay viscous and not thin out. Most shampoos contain these types of polymers or gelling agents. I hope this helps. 💜

    how do I determine which the percentage of each ingredient for a formula? like how did you know to use 4% glycerin etc

    • @YayaDIYCreations
      @YayaDIYCreations  11 місяців тому +2

      This requires a very long and complicated answer. 😅
      To simplify, be sure to read the supplier’s/manufacturer’s description of each ingredient/raw material before using. The description will usually tell you the ideal/safe usage rate and more about how to use the ingredient. From there, you have to experiment with it. Use it in a formula and adjust according to trial and error. I have been formulating for awhile, so I have an idea of how much I need before I write down the formula. However, the only way to truly know is to test it. It’s much more to it than this, but I hope it helps some. I’ll try to do a more in-depth video. 💜💜
