  • Join Chris Morocco in the Bon Appétit Test Kitchen as he makes BA's best lasagna. Why in the world would we tell you to make meatballs, brown them, and then break them into pieces-for a ragù? Sounds crazy, but it’s the best way we found to sear a big batch of meat without overcooking it. This MeatballMethod™ yields deep color (a.k.a. flavor) along with tender meat. If you want to use fresh pasta, go for it, you overachiever you. We also tested the recipe with no-boil noodles, but found they soak up a lot more sauce and the lasagna loses its wonderful ooziness; instead, we recommend the regular dried stuff.heck out the recipe here: www.bonappetit.com/recipe/ba-...

With Chris they would always just cut for recipe and instruction. It's clear in certain parts of this that they've started keeping longer segments of him. If you watch the april fools video with Chris and Brad you can see he's just as much of an awesome funny person as the rest of them. Big fan of Morocco and all the BA test kitchen "cast".

    • @fordhouse8b
      @fordhouse8b 4 роки тому +43

      The secret is to lick your finger, so that the saliva forms a protective layer. Then you quickly lick your finger again to taste it. It isn’t really about how hot something is, it is about how muchness is transferred onto your skin. Think about holing a sparkler in your hand. You can usually do this with sparks hitting your skin, without burning yourself, even though the sparks can be as hot as 3000°F. This is because the individual sparks are so small that they are already extinguished before enough of that heat is transferred to your skin. Also, as a chef, it isn’t so much that we don’t burn ourselves, often it is more a matter of just accepting that a certain amount of pain will happen during your working week.

      It doesn't have to be that complex I would still recommend the veggies and tomato paste but you can use your favorite spaghetti sauce and a mix of bechamel and ricotta

      I make a lazy method using ravioli instead of lasagna noods and it's way the heck easier

    • @flavioisawa5485
      @flavioisawa5485 4 роки тому +9

      It's long but really easy to make. I actually use lasagna noodles that don't need to be pre-cooked and makes the whole much less complicated than this, where he was juggling the bechamel and the noodles. It's a lot of ingredients but it's mostly "mix and let it cook for a long time".
      If you think it's too complicated because of the bolognese, you can always do a spinach lasagna, just substitute all the meat steps with loooooots of spinach, saute with some garlic, reserve some of the cooked spinach and put it in the blender with the bechamel to give it some green color, and when building the lasagna put some ricota or cottage plus parmesan with the layers of spinach and bechamel!

      Please try! Just make both sauces before-hand and then start boiling the noodles (having the bechamel going while trying to get those noodles was v stressful to watch lol). Lasagna is one of the best dishes ever and it's so impressive to serve for friends! Try, you can do it!

    Deeeeelicious cooking show indeed, but Chris is HILARIOUS! Setting the college dorm scene... the pause and smile before "ball to not at all"... and the crown lasagna instruction of them all - "the order is, engage the caterpillar drive." BA-HA-HA :) A mouth watering lasagna instructional video, AND Sean Connery in The Hunt for Red October! Bon Appetit at its finest!!!
    Now, may I please have the lasagna...
