    Man, this series could not have come at a better time. I'm just now starting to experiment with my own builds, and there is SO much to consider when trying to make a well rounded build. 24 karat video and series sir, tytytytytytytytyttytytytytytyt!

    This helped a LOT!! ESPECIALLY on the spell suppression side of things. Things have changed so much from when I started playing that I didn't even think about spell suppress and I didn't realize how important it was until this league. Now, this explanation really clears things up and how it works. Thanks a million!

    I dont know man. Evasion is pretty dodgey as a defensive layer.

    I would love an episode about projectile mechanics (chain, pierce, etc).
    Personally, I'm really confused about what the difference is supposed to be between chain and split

    • @boeserKadser
      @boeserKadser 2 роки тому

      chain does connect to an additional target after hit while split creates additional projectile(s) on cast

    Hey Subtractem! Awesome videos, they have been helping me as a beginner a lot.
    I followed the Ziz Gauntlet for Sentinel league and I was looking at the lategame items and I could not figure them out (reverse engineer them) to understand how people are crafting those late game items.
    If you could make a video about that, how to reverse engineer items to understand the process of how's the best way to achieve a similar item - that would be suuuper helpful.

    I know you are not on block yet....... But I have a question!?!
    Versatile combatant. If it is selcted do I increase my block chance with any node or does it have to be "+% increased max block chance".
    Thank you!

    i hope they buff/add new skills for evasion based characters, like what tenkiei has proposed in his recent video, and just nerf molten Shell/buff other guard skills, characters without the holy Trinity + VMS are simply way less competitive

    Nice video, thx bro :) I always wanted make evasion build, some experimental, interesting mechanics. I sure prefer Acrobatics and much evasion as possible to get more than 85% evade chance. I also thinking about this build work as well to add there curses and upgrade them to make enemy blind and also reduce their accuracy :) which make profit for your chance to evade.
    EDIT: Version 3.23 with my comment just with tree, no pick assassin and without items you can get +130% Increased blind effect which means not basic 20% less accuracy from enemies but 46% and also players can pick +140% Increased blind duration which means from basic 4 seconds of blind almost 10s.
    + Enfeeble Cursed enemies have (10-19)% reduced Accuracy Rating and i didnt calculate items or boost passive tree for curses. Chances to avoid ailments. I think there should players make good evade build but i am a bit worry about DPS...but i will try :) its sounds to me like fun if i see these details which i point.
    So if enemy should have on 84 lvl 538 accuracy or even more...you can down their chance to hit you with all of these things several levels down. Sure vs bosses will be curse less powerful but its still something. Sry for my bad english :P i hope that everyone understand atleast point :)

    So ... this is my only issue with Evasion and Spell Suppression at present... If you want to boss you will eventually get hit and getting good Phys Max hit is really tough without going into Armour on the right hand side of the tree....

    • @subtractem
      @subtractem  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah I'm thinking I'm going to lean hard into phys as element this coming league. If I can get at least 50% across my gear that should go a long way.

      @guitaraholic 2 роки тому

      @@subtractem that’s my thought as well. Waiting to see where patchnotes suggest it will be on gear and hopefully on the tree? Maybe dex shields is an ideal place? Means getting +max res on right on the tree might also be more of a thing or I’ll just have to fit in a Purity.

    How is "more chance to evade attacks" such as Raider ascendancy calculated? Is it a multiplier on the final "chance to evade" ( e.g. T16 mob, 20k evasion is 70.5% evade base, it becomes 77.55%) or is it an independent 10% more multiplier on your evasion rating (22k evasion = substantially less than 77.55% evade)?

    • @CowPimp
      @CowPimp 2 роки тому +2

      Yes, it directly modifies the chance to evade. It is dramatically easier to reach the evasion cap with this stat.

    If I running unjuiced maps, will spell supression come into play much?
    I imagine skeleton mages fireballs count but what else? Is it generic mobs that are casting spells or is it more unique mobs?
    I run 100% supress because I notice I die less, but not really sure where it is helping because everything is such a mess onscreen in this game.

    If u have a big rare or boss with a ton of little monsters are the calculations based if any and all hits or is each monster their own calculation? Moreover if so I would want to get hit off a small monster and then I get the miss from the big rare or boss. That’s what I’m wondering.

    The problem with evasion is that if there's a hit that can 1shot you then it WILL 1shot you as long as you tank it 20 times.
    Tanking 1/20 of your hp once per second for 20 seconds is way easier to deal with than all your hp once every 20s.
    Evasion is a nice bonus, but it can't replace actual damage reduction.
    Edit: Also, suppression coming before or after reduction doesn't matter, it's just another multiplier. The order of multipliers doesn't matter because of the commutative property of multiplication.

    • @subtractem
      @subtractem  Рік тому

      Be very careful about over simplifying the game like this, everything matters.
      Order of suppression very much does matter, not because of the multiplier, but due to how things are processed and triggered. While Suppression is only a multiplier, other calculations that may rely on that process (like armour) may scale non-linearly and the amount of incoming damage there very much does matter.
      Also regarding pure evasion vs pure armour, that's just not how the game works. While in a vacuum your point is partially correct, the game is much more complex than that and the default currently is layering multiple mechanics on top of each other. Also, the right side of the tree typically doesn't have the same amount of recovery that the left side of the tree does, it's balanced based on other mechanics.

    • @jogadorjnc
      @jogadorjnc Рік тому

      @@subtractem Yea, I just meant that you always have to consider what happens when you do get hit, because you will get hit.
      If getting hit means you die then getting more evasion isn't useful because you're always gonna get hit, evasion just increases the time between hits (and therefore decreases the dps you take).

    ola amigo. me tire uma duvida por favor. I have 98% suppression. is it an effect too? will I be able to reduce the magic damage I receive by 49% if I have 98% suppression against magic damage? or will suppression only work if i have 100% suppression against magic damage?

  • @ElicatrothTV
    @ElicatrothTV 2 роки тому +1

    I will never use Evasion... if you have a 40% evasion or 40% phys reduction, I would take the 40% phys reduction anyday.
    with 40% evasion against a hit that deals 60% of your life means 6/10 you will take 60% of your hp as a hit... if multiple are there dealing the same damage now you can easily take 2 hits of 60% hp back to back, making you very dead.
    or with 40% phys reduction you now take 36% hp damage, you will die in 3 hits now which admittedly isnt much of an improvement and im regretting my choice of 40% but oh well, at least you now have the chance to heal or get away. I would rather manually evade than rely on evasion. Everytime I do evasion at start of leagues I die a lot but armour I become a gigachad tank... not sure why theres a thing against early game armour tbh :o

    • @subtractem
      @subtractem  Рік тому +1

      It's only reliable at 100%. Sometimes taking double damage can feel bad, since you can hit 100% you always want to aim for it.

    • @tonivoid14
      @tonivoid14 Рік тому

      @@subtractem so.. its not worth leveling up a bit of the percentage of suppress spell damage 30% by spending points from my talent tree??

    • @greglyhoblit
      @greglyhoblit 11 місяців тому

      @tonivoid14 it's worth it, if you had 50% suppression then 50% of spell hits would only deal 50% of there damage which would then get reduced by 75% if your resistance was capped, pairing it with high evasion let's say 75% would mean only 1 in4 attacks hit you, only half of those hits do full damage, you'd also want to pair this with some sustain such as leech or hp on kill

    • @greglyhoblit
      @greglyhoblit 11 місяців тому

      @@tonivoid14so you'd take 2 hits out of 8, 1 of those is half damage 1 of those is full, with capped res full damage is only 25% and half is only 12.5

    • @greglyhoblit
      @greglyhoblit 11 місяців тому

    It's kinda silly, that GGG replaced dodge in such a way that it is still pretty much taken by everyone on that side of the tree. Anyways, spell suppression is really neat, and i hope GGG doesn't nerf it. Makes playing the Raider so much more attractive.

  • @Lardbutt200
    @Lardbutt200 2 роки тому +1

    Great video, one thing no evasion guide ive seen cover yet is the keystone wind dancer. So you take an attack hit, you gain 40% more evasion for 4 seconds. What happens when wind dancer's effect wears off and your evasion drops back to normal? It seems pretty complicated when you sit down and think about it.

    • @subtractem
      @subtractem  2 роки тому +1

      It's pretty simple:
      If you haven't been hit in the past 4 seconds (recently):
      1. If you take an attack hit, you take 20% less damage from that hit and your evasion rating goes up by 40% for the next 4 seconds.
      2. If you get hit during those 4 seconds, the hit will actually do 20% MORE damage to you and the timer will reset since you got hit.
      After 4 seconds of not getting hit, go back to (1)
      This is post-nerf Wind Dancer which, in my opinion, is incredibly bad and no one should ever take it. 20% more damage after the first hit means that you are much more likely to get one shot and, if you're really building into evasion, you're probably near the cap of 90% anyway in which case there is really no upside to the keystone.
