I like my Mora Trio, the Garberg, Kansbol, and Eldridge. The Eldris gets used more than the other two combined. It does everything well. Except baton….it is not good at batoning.
Another great video George! Happy New Year!

It's so handy. I just carry mine in a jacket/coat/parka pocket for colder weather. In warm weather I do a paracord loop through the bottom and let it dangle from a carabiner off a belt loop or pack strap.

Agreed. I love my eldris. I first found it when i had broken my leg. Made it fit on my boot while on crutches. After getting out of the boot, it became such a common part of my edc that i made an elastic band for retention and also to hold a large ferro rod for a nice all in one package. I put it in the @singingtoad open tag video on my page a couple weeks ago. I love it, and truly enjoy your page George.

A good tip for having a small strop all the time. If you use leather gloves, put some compound on the inside of the wrist of your gloves. I've noticed the back arch of the thumb works fairly well. In that area. Ive even used the back of the arch on my thumb without a glove. My skin with the natural oils did fairly well in a pinch.

I'm older now and can't hike much at all, but when I did, I did a lot of bushwhacking (going off trail in search of wild edible and medicinal plants and mushrooms), and I was often in thick brush and trees. For that reason, I never liked wearing anything around my neck when I was in the woods. I have several Moras, but my favorite is an old Mora No. 2 with a red wooden handle. It's small and light enough to carry it as a neck knife. Varusteleka is an outdoor retailer that handles a lot of European military surplus. They're in Finland, but shipping to the states is reasonable unless you buy something too small and inexpensive.

Heck yeah a ceramic rod in the pack is a great item to carry. It's easily carried and super convenient! It's super nice to be able to touch up an edge easily and with just a couple seconds any time and any where. You can lift up a burr and flip the burr very quickly with a light micro bevel break the burr loose and you have a fresh edge that's ready to work. It's really amazing what you can do with a little ceramic rod it really gives you a lot of options from realigning your apex if you get a minor roll and you can do some light stropping passes on it to bring an edge back and if you totally kill an edge then you can do a quick micro bevel and your back in business with a fresh edge. I keep one in both cars and one on the boat as well. My day packs all have one in them to. They don't cost much and they are hugely versatile!!!
