I have a Kansbul in my pack, always there as a backup blade, and a Mora 2000 on my sailboat as the go to boat knife. We seldom spark a fero rod on the boat, so the rounded spine is a plus for carving or cutting through larger lines. The great thing about Moras, you never have to choose which Mora to buy, when in doubt, buy them both!! 😊
The Kansbol is my favourite and most used Morakniv. As someone who has a bunch of chickens, except in the depths of winter or when they're all molting, there's always a push to find new ways to eat more eggs: pickling, egg potato salads, pancakes, and recipes like Shakshuka. Fresh eggs from free range chickens are just so much better than the pale yolk eggs you get at the grocery store.
I’m using this knife on my camping trips for food prep and fish prep. It’s good for woodwork too, but I’ll use other knives for that, like the Garberg.
When you are hatching eggs you don't want to wash them and you only want naturally clean eggs due to there being a protective dried snot like film on the egg. This will allow the egg to stay fresher for longer at room temp compared to a washed egg without that snot film coating.
❤ I loved your scrambled egg sandwich in the last video. I been subscribed for years. This is the best, genuine place to come for a great review 👍 and Cedric you can tell has a heart of gold.
There is another Swiss made knife that advertised the poly sheath as an improvised blow tube to help get fires going. Do you think the poly sheaths on the Garberg or Kansbol could be used in this way? Like getting a fire going from a coal.
Yeah it's a great meat processing knife since it's so easy to control, slices so well, and is easy to clean. I've used mine not to cut and process meat off deer several times. It's basically an ideal outdoor "kitchen" knife.
@whitemountainman3872 you won't be disappointed with it. The bright colors of the handles make it easy to low light conditions if you set it down while field dressing and the handle and sheath material make it an ease to clean.
Amen. I don't have either Garberg nor Eldris. Went straight for the Kansbol. Bought it unused second hand for 20€. I have a whole bunch of 'fancy expensive supersteel handmade knives', but Kansbol is so versatile, so comfortable in hand and no muss no fuss, that if I could keep just one fixblade, it would be this. When this trilogy came out, there even was a test (quiz?) about your knife use on the Mora website you could take and you got a suggestion which one of the three you should get. It was Kansbol for me.
The Kansbol would be my favorite Mora if the Mora 2000 did not exist. The latter is cheaper and its spine is not sharpened, making it more comfortable in use for push cuts. And I like the handle better, but I admit some might say that the Mora 2000 handle is a bit too thin for their taste.
Came here to give a 2000 comment, but it was already here. Agree the 2000 is the better bang for the buck f0r 99.99 percent of knife users. A Kansbol that’s even slicier and dare to say it, Moras best handle ever? If you need the beefy blade and sharpened spine of the Kansbol, take a look in the mirror just once and ask. Do i really NEED it, or is firesteel scraping not worth double the price? Btw, the Mora 2000 IS the original, the Kansbol is a beefier copy based on the best selling hunters knife “two thousand”
@@jez76 both blades are 2.5mm thick, and identical in shape. The 2000 has a mirrored finish & rounded spine, and the kansbol has a brushed finish & 90° spine. Kansbol isn't "beefier"
Kansbol is definitely my favourite Mora. It is a compromise among all those cases of use... I mean you can use it for anything and it will be good enough there. It is also inexpensive. Cool vid, thanks, Pete!
I kept one of these in my fishing tackle forever and it works awesome! Left it sitting on my number like a dumb dumb tho so now I need to get another..
They put this same, or a very similar blade, in the same, or a very similar, handle to that of the Bushcraft Black. Curious whether you prefer the kansbol handle as well as the blade?
My best scrambled eggs: Non-stick pan. Cold. Spray pan with non-stick vegetable oil (Pam). Crack three eggs into the pan. Turn heat on medium low. Wait until whites are 50-70% done. Use a silicone spatula to break the yolks and gently scramble until just before done. Remove from heat. Salt. Eat.
Been using mine as household knife for some years now but I didn’t like the micro edge it came with. Be nice to see your technique for making it true scandi. Great little vid, love the chooks.
The Kansbol edge has a factory micro bevel, had a noticeable difference compared with full scandis. Was wondering why it didn't bite as hard as the companion HD, then I found out about the micro bevels. It also needs more finesse to field sharpen if you want to maintain the micro bevels. If I'm using it around the house, this is excellent. But for field use, the simpler straight scandis works better.
BTW you can get just the blade with the stick tang for this knife, as well as a number of their other blade designs. Really nice if you want to carve up your own handle and epoxy resin it in there, as I've done with their excellent carving blade. The standard handles are usually too small for me.
As a non-youtuber i actually skipped the Eldris (still think it's silly) and the Garberg originally and got the Kansbol since, unlike the Garberg, it offered something I didnt already have a thousand of. It's so light, agile/sharp and stainless it makes a great knife to just include in a pack or trip especially if boating, fishing, hunting, or cooking will be included. Weighs next to nothing, doesnt rust, and is greatly superior to any strong outdoor knife for filleting fish, processing game or preparing food. And strong enough to he a proper backup for tough tasks if needed.
I am a person who got Eldris when I learned that they finally made them with all the way scandi. I can assure you you didn't miss much not getting it. Eldris is one of my biggest disappointments so far in this "hobby". My problem with it is that the blade effectively doesn't have any bit of the straight edge - it's all a gradual curve, which makes any job feel funky with that knife. On top of that big rounding swipe up to the tip makes it feel even shorter than it already is. What the hell do so many people find in it is still beyond my understanding.
The orange Bushcraft is probably my favorite Mora. Best handle. Actual finger guard. I had a Garberg but never liked the lack of a finger guard. Riding your hand down the blade hours away from anything would not make for a fun experience. Never understood the lack of finger guards on knives. Not a big glove guy.
@@RJT80 Thats just scandinavian knives in general. They dont have finger guards traditionally. Since i have used them so much i personally prefer them that way. I see how that one is versatile. And I might have gone that path too, if I had not discovered my love for carbon steel moras. At the moment I use a combination of a mora 511 for almost everything and a opinel 10 with stainless steel for food stuff. Together they weigh less than my garberg.
The Kansbol is plenty of knife. The Garberg is handy if you need to pry your way into a car but overkill most times. I’ve been using a Companion for years now.
Just surprised that Mora have never brought out a carbon steel version of the Kansbol. If they can do it for the Garberg they can surely do it for the Kansbol.
Kansbol is definitely underrated for what it is (especially when compared to the Graberg), In terms of versitility and utility use it is definitely much greater when compares to the Garberg. It's for sure that the Garberg is the strongest of them all with the thickest blade and full tang, but how often would you encounter situations like suddenly getting teleported to extreme environments with apocalyptic events?
I have to say, you're spot on about the Parmesan. I put some in my eggs(I just eat them as a scramble) one time and now it's pretty much the only way I want to eat eggs.
Definitely, the fresher the eggs the better the omelette. I use the microwave to make a fluffy, souffle-like omelette with all the fixings in about 2 1/2 minutes. Works like a charm.
I find myself putting Parmesan cheese on just about anything that wouldn’t make the galaxy spit in two if added. Pizza, eggs, pasta, salad, steak, popcorn, chili , chicken ect… I don’t have the good stuff, but Parmesan is a beautiful thing.
Pete if you like the Kansbol you should checkout the Cold Steel Piece Maker blade they make a 4" and I think a 6" , they have the Same Grind as the Kansbol , but CS makets them as Boot Knives because of the Sheath that is technically made for your Boot ..... 👍🖖

So gentle heat will keep them creamy and moist. Get a bowl add 2 eggs, 2 tbl spoons of cream, S&P, and grate some parmesan cheese into mix. Add some butter to a warm but not hot pan, add egg mix and cook on low heat. It'll take a bit longer but will taste amazing. Im getting a custom chicken coupe/house in 4 days.
I like the blade finish and the handle on the Mora 2000 better than the Kansbol. The 2000 does not have a sharpened spine. Good or bad depending on your purpose for the knife.

I get fresh eggs from my neighbor's chickens in exchange for my walking their dog when I walk my border collies. Fresh eggs every day for breakfast is wonderful! I make a 2 egg + 4 egg whites (from a carton) omelette with parmigiano reggiano or provolone. Low cal and LOTS of protein. I live in the city but several of my neighbors keep chickens in their yards. These chickens are rescues like yours. After one year of laying, the businesses turn the chickens over to individuals for rescue OR they throw them into a wood chipper ALIVE for fertilizer. Bastards. Oh yeah...nice knife Pete.
I live few miles from Cheddar Gorge so I tend to have a good SHARP Cheddar on my scrambled eggs. Talking of SHARP I love my Kansbol (see what i did there?)
If you can get it....try Romano cheese (pecorino romano). Similar to Parmigiano though can be slightly softer (but still hard and dry) and often made with sheeps milk.
