These bins should be free to all nyc home/property owners. If they pledged to rid rat problems, they should give these out for free of charge instead of costing us at $50 each. Meanwhile, The city hand out free debit cards, free hotel stays & food to the illegal migrants at our cost! Take care of your own infrastructure & citizens first hand ! WTF !!!🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
This is a very dumb idea. These trash bins will stink like crazy. No one will wash them. I bet the company making these bins kicks back to city officials. One hand washes the other situation.
These morons are making the city worse and worse every day to live in between the bike Lanes the vision zero nonsense now forcing you to buy garbage cans I'll just take my bag of garbage and throw it in front of the apartment building right next door problem solved I don't have to buy a can
The Bike lanes and bus and car zone restrictions are utterly draconian living here! Bicycles pay no form of tax like vehicle operators and owners. You wont find product of anykind moved by bikes in rain or snow, only cars.
We have no problem buying the garbage bins but when the sanitation truck empty the garbage in my neighborhood they leave the bin on the road the homeowner all work during the day can they please put the trash bins on the side walk
I don't get it, this should be implemented to specific zones. There are plenty of areas that don't have large pileups, kept in orderly. And collectors will have a harder time sorting through every bin. Please rethink.
CAAAAAASSSSSSHHHH GRRAAABBBBB lol imagine living in areas like fordham area where its ALL buildings and only like 20 legitimate parking spaces with these giant bins taking up parking spaces?.......btw those fancy bins designed specifically for rats all over the city are failing terribly and getting chewed through so idk what exactly a cheap plastic one is gonna do except for be stolen or used as a weapon during a street scuffle?
@ I raccoons thank God I don’t see rats where I’m at I’m not paying that and I’ll tell the judge that! They do everything to take away every dime all that taxes they take out my pay ever month? They need to give home owners them for free
A regular toter bins how much they cost? Yo come on yo all garbage cans cost money. Man stop it. They said 55 gallons bins or under. You can have a bin under 45 gallons.
Larger buildings will join the container trend in Spring 2025. It's NY so delays is expected. I am the only person on my block with these bins and so far no one has been issued a ticket in my area.
They need bigger containers on the side walk on commercial streets where buildings can share. Put 2, 3, or 4 on each block of these big containers that hold garbage cans inside of it. Where it has a lid on top and door on the inside to slide out garbage cans. They need to put those in the commercial streets while regular cans go in residential areas.
Of course. In my street, each of us puts out a small bag of garbage. And why should we buy 35 or 50 gal of garbage and a sanitation worker has to open it, bend down and look for the bag to take it out and throw it into the trunk by his hand. What will buying these buckets change? Nothing... Except that the corrupt will get rich off this and they will have the opportunity to give us fines for nothing. By the way, a sanitation worker, tugging on the bag, knocks over the bucket on the road and the bucket gets destroyed. I haven't bought any bucket yet. I've already seen at other houses and many of them complain that they are heavy and small at the bottom. These wheels simply take up too much space. Old one also have wheels and are lighter and more spacious. I got a small one for compost and I must say that these buckets are not as good as they are advertised. And they shouldn't brag about what they do, but listen to what people say about it. First of all, they are too narrow at the bottom and fall over. The cover is permanently attached and under its weight the bucket falls over because it is too heavy at the top and too narrow at the bottom. Especially when there is a strong wind.. Moreover, when putting a empty bag into it, you cannot put it on completely like in a normal uncovered bucket, because it has a hinge that makes it impossible to put the bag on. During the rain, I had a lot of water in the compost and I had to take the bag out and pour it out water from it. If they want to close the buckets carefully, they should produce buckets from which the lid is removed and it should have two closures. The old type of buckets that I have also have wheels, they are lighter, much wider at the bottom and I can put the bag completely on it. Then I close the lid and what else do we need?? Today I was driving along the road next to a condominium and there were over 100 bags lying on the sidewalk. So how many containers do they need to accommodate them? And where will they keep them when there is no space under the building for additional parking for residents? Those from the city must have gone crazy. Instead of fighting rats, they torment house owners with senseless ideas because they know that they cannot issue fines for rats.
@@carolinehuang1we know that. It's just that very soon, homeowners have to purchase these, and they're expensive, especially if a homeowner recently bought some that work very well, & it's too late to exchange or get a refund. Even $10 is too much!!
@@lisayoung4810 nope , is $45( small ) and ( $53 ) large way cheaper than regular price in home Depot for the same quality. The city announced this like 16 months ago so if u bought it then keep it in the basement or garage for later use when the bin for recycle break down
@@carolinehuang1 respectfully, you missed the point. I am aware of when the announcement was made. The trash bins were bought from Home Depot about 5 years ago. The ones recently bought were replacing the ones that had been stolen by a tenant & were also purchased from Home Depot, The trash bins are of good quality, still are in good condition, and far less expensive than the trash bins that the city is now stipulating that you must purchase. Now at least 6 new trash bins have to be purchased, & instead of 1 or 2 old trash bins in the basement, it will be 6 practically new trash bins. Please donate your money to help those homeowners in a similar situation since you feel the price is cheap & this new law is not tedious. Why do you think people are commenting about this??? There are plenty of people commenting similar sentiment & they may have to only buy 1 or 2 trash bins. If the compost bin is free, then these should be, too or the homeowners should make sure they get some kind of tax write-off or something.
@@lisayoung4810 is cheaper because the price in home depot now is higher than the official NYC bin website. Assuming ur previous trash bin is 96 gallon. 96 gallon is the biggest I can see in home depot and now x 2 is 192 gallon. Now convert it to NYC bin is 4 trash cans of 45 gallon approximately. U definitely don't need 6 bins

Its money grabbing, what's wrong with other company's bin, why do we have to waste money to buy city bin. I have a bigger and stronger bin then city bin and it looks new.

Dear Lisov 4575, This is a good point: Many households may not have a garden hose or an outdoor water spigot.
How much did the company that sells these cans get paid off
Excellent question.
We pay all this tax it should be free to residents
